Is it just me or does Production Efficienct skill just NOT work. Well, it doesn't for me anyways, Ive checked when building things for the corp. Kinda sucks since I specifically got this char only made skill in creation....

It seems the prod eff. skill is not working for BP copys. At least it isn't with thr production char of our corp. He get's his bonus with originals, but not with copys.

I have found Production Efficiency does function. My use has only been with BP originals though so I cannot speak towards the copies.
Also, for tests, don't forget to add a 25% markup on the material requirements listed on the blueprint to obtain accurate numbers.

and why is it that we need to make a new character to use prod eff ?? i have 1,6 million skill points on my main and wonder why i sould waste a char slot only to gain prod eff ... if its working why not put it on market ?

This question has been asked before, several times, and I haven't seen an answer from CCP yet. I guess they deliberatly want to annoy their players, since they don't say why it isn't on the market, they don't put it on the market, or even tell us if they ever will put it on the market. But, hey, it's their game. We can either make a new character or quit and go play some other game... If they were to provide information, a good place might be a sticky in this topic with answers to frequently asked questions.

the answer Pann gave me on eve-online 10 days ago that was posted on about every fansite still seems unknown to most -------- <Pann> Let me explain this: There are some skills available in character creation that we decided during Beta would be dropped from the game. Those need to be removed. There are some skills available in character creation that cannot be purchased on the market. Those need to be available for purchase. There are skills you can get in character creation that cannot be trained until you have the prerequisite skill and we need some sort of notice about that to pop up during character creation. All of these things are in development. --------we can only do one thing... wait... tho i cant believe its that hard to put some skills on the market and remove them from character creation *sigh*

This is a blueprint calculator I have whipped up. You can set your skill levels and research levels and it shows the minerals you will need to build a given item. Try it out and see how it compares to the numbers you experience. It should be the same (unless they changed the formulas again in this patch (They better not have!))
I'll double check it when I get to my factory slot next time I'm on.

Og,
Your calculator isn't handling mineral research correctly.
I tested it against a BP that I ran last night and noted it's costs. In this case, it is a Blackbird with Mineral Level 2. I have Prod Eff 4.
I only looked at the Tritanium numbers, and for me, I consume 266,690 trit, the calculator shows 274884. That's about a 3% difference.
I'm not 100% sure where the different factors are calculated (ie;, add 10% to base need for waste, then factor Prod Eff, etc).

Whoa! They are thinking of dropping Production Efficiency from the game? So it just disappears from characters that spent weeks training it, and players who dedicated a whole character slot to a designated factory manager? That would be crap. Maybe not allowing new characters to have it might be fair, but I for one will be super****ed if my factory boy gets patched into a pointless goof with some industry skills but nothing that I can't buy for my main charater. They screwed us enough with Prod Eff by increasing the BP reqs. Can CCP please focus on ADDING promised skills/activities like mnemonics, reverse engineering, implants, etc? My level 4 science on my main character (ready for level 5 anytime) is being frigging wasted right now being usefull only for copying BPs and for that matter only being able to use one lab at a time/do one bit of research at a time. If I'd known I never would have trained as my corp science officer. I'd have Gunnery 5 and Trajectory Analysis right now if I hadn't wasted the time on Science.

Doesn't seem to work for me, original or copied BP. The originally fabled reason to have PE -- to round down the occasional need for 1 high-end mineral -- certainly doesn't work. Nor do I see any decrease in total mineral requirements even for large batches.

Destman - The other science skills and production efficiency are found during character creation.
Alvin - It does function, but remember it only functions on a per item basis. Large production runs do not have any benefits over a single run. Also, the benefit has to be able to offer a complete integer change as the calculation discards the remainder.
