hiya all, i wanted to post something, but i couldnt think of any good ideas, so i just thought i'd start a thread asking, what things have you done lately that have made you glad you play eve?
i've just mostly been doing missions while i build up my skills, i've found that i really need to make my ship tougher, it gets killed way too easily, so i'm working on engineering skills, but that's not all that fun :P
the most fun thing i've done for a while was heading down to thelan to grab my torpedos, lately, a bunch of pirates have been hanging around criliere, i thought they wouldnt attack me anymore, because i had a nice chat with them the first time, and they let me through, but once on a torpedo run, rastalin highcort, one of the pirates, locks onto me, just before i can warp, i jump to the next system, my heart is racing, i'm all nervous, it felt so good, i love facing other players.
so, in this new system there's just one guy, someone called lynal bother i thought of warning him about the pirate chasing me, but decided against it, because i was probably just being paranoid, so i warp to the next gate, and while i'm headed for it, lynal warps in right behind me, webifies me, and starts firing, and sends drones after me.
but, unfortunately for him, this was all in range of the sentry guns, so they lay into his tempest, and i lock on and start all 6 siege launchers firing torps at him, and in a few seconds, he begins to warp, then BOOM, we sunk his battleship, rastalin, who had just warped in, sits there, watching me fly towards the gate, not wanting to share the fate that befell lynal.
so i made it back to suroken with a full hold of torpedos, and feeling so proud of myself to survive a pvp encounter for the first time :D
so, tell us your stories of the stuff you've done lately that's made you glad to be playing eve :)
I like drawing

I recently... spent an hour charging a station.
Eh. Well, it's not really one specific thing, it's just working with my corp, going out in gangs, having fun PvPing. Sometimes we do boring things like charging stations, sometimes we throw a few cruisers together and go on raids, sometimes we have to put a fleet together. I quite like it.

I spent about six hours ina starter system workign intensely one on one with a variety of players who were so frustratd with the game they were ready to quit, showing them how to play and have fun in eve(as well as make money), and at the end they decided to sign up for a subscription.
I felt fulfilled, after helping these folk, and get to relive through their eyes the part of the game where it is so big and forbidding and wonderful and full of possibilities.
That was a good day.

Everything I do in Eve makes me glad I play. Yesterday, I wasted three hours tracking down some debris and a rock formation in our home system with nothing but the scanner and a shuttle. I enjoy doing that. There was nothing there, but it was fun nonetheless. Your PVP story is cool. Let's lynch some pirates.

Not quiet the answer your looking for....but.
Last December I was a passenger in a car crash, and suffered several broken bones.
Now 4 months later I'm very much recovered and just waiting for the last bone to heal, and in all that time off work....EVE has kept me entertained. Never would I thought I'd be so happy to have a game to play for hours a day. Theres always something to do stop getting bored.

I'm in a somewhat similar situation. What actually happened is my girlfriend left me (nothing to do with Eve) and I've been so bored recently that Eve has been an enjoyable distraction. I'm still bored, but at least now I'm bored in space :D.

I were doing a complex in my Deimos. Then 2 feroxes jumps in and started to fire at me. I pressed autopilot and jumped out. While I were junmping I thought to myself, Hey Im in a Deimos, I could take them out. So when Im out of warp I warp back to the gate and then in to the complex. They lock me again and I warp out by again (what now I think to myself) Then I see a big yellow A icon. duhhhh I forgot to shut off the autopilot :) So I warp back again and now the guys probably have noticed what ship im in. So they want to be friends and want us to do the next stage. As the friendly guy I am I accept :) They were actually nice and we had a nice fight in teh next complex stage.

Thing that has made me most glad lately was getting the stabber fleet issue recently. Not just for getting a faction ship, but because i had to work out where could the commander tag be hidden, which i finally found out.
Basically got all the items needed by myself, only having to buy the ammatar navy raid leader insignia, mostly cos i was about to leave on a trip and offer would otherwise expire ________________________________________

I took most of all the "Minmatar Tech I Frigates" and a set amount of isk to start with (100,000). I also have some BPC's of diffrent cruisers, moduals, and goodies. I bought some supplies for my first odd frigate (Guns, ammo, WS) and fitted it up. I proceded to my homebase in 0.3 system. I then set out to smack down some NPC Frigates for isk and mods to keep or refine. Once that was complete for about a day. I had enough minerals and nice named items to build me a "Blackbird" cruiser. My set 100,000 isk bankroll was up to 1.4million isk. Just to follow in with my theme, I bought a BPC of a Blackbird. I then contunied to build a "Blackbird" in the factory. Luckly enough I had heavy missile launcher BPC and missile BPC's. I then fitted up my "Blackbird" that was built from the "System". I continued out to find some "Players" to put down, take there mods and refine. So far, I'm doing pretty good with my EW Blackbird. I've destroyed a few Frigates and Cruisers for refining.
The goal = Starting from nothing and ending with a good bankroll as well produced a "Tempest Battleship" from minerals refined from "Player" mod's.
Just because I can set cool events like that for myself when I'm bored. It makes me happy I play eve. BTW, if anyone is out there solo in the world like I am. Should try it =)

Hm, my corp is based in the outskirts of 0.0, deep in teneriffis, an drecently our most important base came under attack from RA forces. They took it, and most of our ships/assets where trapped inside.
After several encounters and battles over the station we were forced to withdraw, but a few brave souls stayed with me and so we managed to start a counter attack the night b4 the patch hit the server.
We started with only five battleships, and ended up with a whole fleet of 25+ ships that came to our aid ;)
In the end we managed to retake the station and hold it till the patch was applied, and now we have a homebase again ;)
Patience wins. |

Edited by: XKittyX on 18/04/2005 15:51:26 Over the weekend I had the worst and best days in Eve in my year and half of playing.
On Saturday I got ganked by Imperial Dreams (nice NAP guys)and PIE, losing my sexy BS and a lot of dusty old implants I'd collected throughout my career. I was a little disheartened. This, however, proved to be the catalyst to a day of destruction and riches.
On Sunday I went on a solo rampage in 0.0. I sat down at 9am and didnt move until 7pm. I went to the bottom of Xetic space. They were very, very hospitable. Apart from the many kills along the way I bagged a couple of VERY lucrative ones...
First up was a hauler from the Danish Trade and Mining Inc. This guy was travelling deep in 0.0 with a shuttle for an escort!!! After a couple of jumps I got him, after he'd tried to shake me off. He was carrying Cap Recharger II's, mega pulse lasers and the best remote armor repairers in the game. My poor inty's cargo hold was overflowing so I left most behind sadly.
Second came the real trophy. A Iteron V from Foundation corporation. This guy didnt even bother with an escort. I popped the ship and sent the owner back to Empire. Surveying the wreckage I spot that several large secure cans were left intact. I opened them and nearly had a heart attack. Approx 40 BluePrints including destroyers, assorted cruisers, weapons etc etc. The loot included Tech 2 guns, the best named XL and L shield boosters available, loads of other top named modules, lots of isogen, nocxium, mexallon etc, moon minerals, ammo, and a nice collection of Sansha's tags. A small fortune.
I can't believe my luck and my heart is racing. However, I'm all alone in Xetic territory, my cargo hold is already full, I have 15k m3 of cargo sitting at a gate worth several hundred million ISK and I expect a lot of hostiles to arrive.
So... I get on comms and get the Freeks boys racing down to me. We engage and force out everything coming into the system whilst moving cargo to a SS ready for extraction. Somehow we get most of the valuables out from the gate.
We load up on the best of the loot and plot a route back home. Busting through numerous gate camps on the way back, we arrive safely in Empire. We ***** the beers open. EDIT: I can't say c r a c k?!?
That night the party continued, a newly reinvigorated Freeks Corp went out and got some sweet PVP action taking on HED system in frigates. Downing BSs like that with your friends is just poetry in motion.

Slightly off-topic...
XKittyX - I came back from a week away to find our NAP with Fr33ks over.
Why? Because some of your members took it upon themselves to shoot at Sidyous and other members of Auctorian Syndicate (which are now part of the CVA).
That is why the NAP was ended. We also have logs of fr33ks players admitting that they wanted to do it because they were 'bored' with the NAP.
Now I was dissappointed by this as fr33ks and CVA had actually got along pretty well up until that point. If you wish to contact me about this ingame please feel free.
Getting back on topic one of the funnest things had to be this Sunday when 24 CVA got in basic Inquisitor frigates and tore up Minnie space. Five of us made it home but we bagged a lot of expensive shippies

Im a month into the game so far, and doing pretty good for myself. I dont know how long this will last, however.
See, the most recent thing I have done is talk this game up to one of my friends, and got him into the trial. I gave him a chunk of isk, had him follow me on some trading runs, showed him the ropes. By the end of the trial, he has 6mil and likes the game so he signs up.
He is kind of new to mmrpg, so he is going through the "I gotta pay how much a month?!" shock that we all did when we first were introduced to these games. He ends up getting a pre-paid card dealy with 2 months on it.
All is good up to this point.
Well, he was lured by the courrier mission type agents and how the missions seem like a good way to get some starting capital. I tried to warn him about low security space, but he is given missions to go through these areas and he survives the first couple times, so he doesnt get what the problem is..
Now he is down to like 2 mil, he has lost numerous ships etc, he is making backwards progress.
Why? Gate campers have nailed him numerous times while he is trying to do these missions.
Anyways, I go and look at the map see how small empire space is and realize it wont be too long before I and the one getting blown up etc..
To sum it up, I feel bad for getting him into this game and for him prepaying, when in the end we are probably playing the wrong game and it is just a matter of time until that becomes obvious..
Oh well, gotta have that PvP aspect..

Well I had my best ever night in Eve yesterday in a fleet engagment.
The best bit for me was targetting a m0o tempest and exchanging shots with him for at least ooo.... 60 seconds. Sadly the range was 80k and I still had pulses fitted to my Apoc so I scored exactly zero hits on him and then the rest of the nme fleet targetted me so I ran away screaming like a girl

Probably the best thing I've managed is to finally get myself geared up for production. Producing and selling something as limited as an assault cruiser really gives me a feeling of bieng "involved" in EVE.
On the downside, the breakup of the old CA, issues with the GW alliances and RL based CEO resignations has really put a dent in corp operations.
@Zoner Diode Point out to your mate that paying 1 monthly subscription is far cheaper than buying one or two new games a month And if you have a problem with campers in low sec go look for an alliance to join and try 0.0 missions, or mix it all up a bit. Either way, being part of a group is always more fun I find, even if I'm just soloing missions at the time. ----------------------------------------------- IÆm not schizophrenic... ThatÆs my alt
