Josh's point about CONCORD taking measures (such as giving Arenis and Istvaan -5 sec rating) is a valid RP point.
Why this hasn't been done sooner I have no idea... I was in a corp which was killed by a corp theft a long time ago.
Play by in-game rules, abide by in-game rules. Criminals are persecuted by CONCORD.

Edited by: Riddari on 20/04/2005 11:10:32 We all know that this UQS corp theft is not the first nor the last to happen in EVE. It's one of the biggest ones to date though and the months of work that went into it make it such a high profile case.
It was achieved using in-game and out-game (Teamspeak) methods. The in-game methods and RP-post about it and the recent news item make it obvious that most of the pod pilot community, and therefore CONCORD, should be aware of it.
NPCs are neutered in EVE.
Why hasn't CONCORD in the past marked corp thiefs as wanted men? These people reap rewards but without disadvantage. Usually low-skilled alts are used for this which makes the branding of (permanent?) -10 rating for the pilot a moot point.
In this case however we have pilots who are well known and are not hiding. A marking of -10 security status will brand them as what they wish to be known as, criminals.
At worst it means they'll go off for 0.0 space to chain NPC's for a couple of weeks but it will be something they didn't perhaps intend to do and so must adapt their gameplay because of in-game events.
It's known as actions lead to consequences.
Quote: DED The police enforcement arm of CONCORD. DED has the responsibility of tracking down known criminals and attacking criminal facilities. They frequently operate outside empire space, wanting criminals to understand that they are nowhere safe from the long arm of the law.
Quote: Directive Enforcement Department The main responsibility of the DED is to track high-profile criminals. For this they often hire independent contractors (better known as bounty hunters). The DED handles the licenses and legal issues of all bounty hunters for the empires, although some of the empires have been known to bypass the DED in special circumstances. Also, the most notorious criminals are marked as free-for-all targets by the DED.
Make a name for yourself in-game as a criminal, CONCORD will be on your ass.
Sounds very storyline friendly.

It's simply not their business

Originally by: Istvaan Shogaatsu you trip over yourselves to come up with increasingly ludicrous out-of-game punishments. Ohhhhh, let's reduce their sec rating so they have to farm some rats, that'll fix them good!
You aspire for in-game fame as a criminal mastermind, CONCORD declares criminals to be wanted men.
Don't tell me you honestly don't see what I'm driving at there
If Istvaan Shogaatsu is to be a known criminal, he should be treated as such by governments!
This is not out of game but purely in-game, I'm just wondering about this point, not only pertaining to this corp theft but many more.
