Hi, I was wondering if people mine in Brutixes. I have my Electronics up to lvl 4, and I've done the math and it seems theoretically possible to squeez on 7 miner IIs using Co-Processor IIs. However, is this just a waste of time? I'm worried about my cap just dieing after a couple cycles. And I'll have no room for cap rechargers/relays because of all the CPU gear. Please tell me if this is worth it, or if I should just forget it and train up a barge, thanks!

You can fit a brutix with 7 x Miner II's. I use it all the time. From memory i have: 7 x Miner II 1 x Scanner 2 x CPU II, the rest CPU I's

My setup for Brutix mining...
7 Miner II's 3 Cap recharge I's 1 Small shield booster 5 Co-Processor II's (Electronics at lvl 4 atm)
With the 3 Cap rechargers I never run out of cap while running all 7 miner II's so you should have no problems.

You must have excess CPU to fit caprech'es, why not fit an afterburner to get to those roids faster? _______________________________________________

Is that actually any better than mining with an osprey?

All skills at lvl 5 No drones in calculation.
Brutix ~ 651 m3/min Osprey ~ 561 m3/min
Estimated values with drones : Brutix (with 10 Harvesters) ~ 1021 m3/min Osprey (with 4 Harvesters) ~ 709 m3/min

hell yeah it is, only two ships in the game beat the brutix mining platform Apoc and Covetor, both cost more money and more skills. my brutix is my main miner right now but since I haven't mined in several months its starting to get dusty

mining in a brutix can be boring and stressfull though, u have to jugle your cargo every 10-20 seconds
stick a few good expanders in if u can + a web or jammer or some other toy to play with the haulers >:-E3 !!!rrraY I'm an anti pirate,...life's the wrong way round. |

7xMinerII's
1 scanner, 3 cap rechargers
5 CPU II's
Electronics at lvl5
I use this a lot for mining in systems with a 0.5 and upwards sec. status although 0.5 can sometimes get a bit uncomfortable when a larger spawn comes along and all i have is drones. Can also swap a cap recharger for a shield booster if needed, should still be enough CPU left.

Ok cool, thanks everyone. I was forgetting that cap rechargers take a med slot. I was thinking of cap relays which take up the lows. Ok i should be fine then with some cap rechargers on. Thanks everyone for the help!

7 XeCLs
1 AB II, 3 cap rechargers
1 Med II armor reppy, 2 hardners, 1 relay, 1 expander
10 Drones

With lvl 5 skills:
Brutix: 656.25 m3/minute (Miners II) Real yield: 651 m3/minute Apoc: 750 m3 / minute (Miners II) Real Yield: 744 m3/minute Large Barge: 970.3125 m3/minute Real Yield: 970 m3/minute
It isnt more faster/efficient than mining with a large barge, only the bs can be more efficient thanks to the fact that are thougher and have more room to fit defensive modules..
EDIT: What is the real mining? The miners mine the truncated amount of m3 described in the attributes, this also applys in the mining drones -----------------------------

Most definately not. Its not even up to an Apoc's mining capabilities.

You can run your 7xMiner II's with just 4 CPU II's I save the last slot for teh cargo expander, helps a bit >:-E3 !!!rrraY I'm an anti pirate,...life's the wrong way round. |

actually, the Dominix can also trump the Brutix, with its potential 15 harvesters and 6 miner 2's which can be made to parallel an Apocalypse with 8 miner 2's and 10 harvesters.
of course it's much harder (skill wise) to get a dominix with 15 drones going, that either the Brutix or Apoc with just 10 drones, so indeed the Brutix is the "easier megathron" for many gallente miners

brutix can be a pain when u got 7 M II's going with only 400/m3 cargo, but once u time things it becomes less a problem :)
and brutix is good because unless u got an apoc or barge 3 then brutix does justice for price/skill :) like thorax or osphrey

I've used this rare setup:
Hi: 7 miner II's Mid: Whatever is left to fit Low: 4 CPU II's + 1 Sensor booster II
The sensor booster gives you 1 extra target to lock. With targetting at lvl5 you can lock 8 targets. That's 7 targets for your mining lasers and the last one for your drones. If rats show up, scoop the mining drones and launch the combat drones. You can then use the last one to target the npc's and take them out one by one. Let them come real close. if you're lucky, you can scoop the loot right into your can without moving.
Above is the most efficient mining setup with a Brutix. Some notes: * You keep on dragging all the time. * /me likes the 8 targets :) * Cap is no problem * I like rats that come close the most. Within 1500m, you can scoop things right into your can

you have problems with 0.5 npcs in a brutix? i can take pretty much any 0.4 npc easily, with a MINING BARGE.. ok, granted, i have maxed drone skills.. but still. with a ship that has at least 5 times the hp, you should not be having problems with frigate spawns(i have never seen anything bigger then frigate npcs spawn in 0.5 sec belts) :)

(with skills maxed)
5x Mining laser 2, 2x Cu-Vapor 4x cap recharge ( or 3x and 1 survey scan if u prefer) 1x Med ar rep T2, 4x coproc T2
I use not 7 laser 2 because i will be able to save a low slot for a med repairer to tank other miners. With this setting i can tank & mine most of low sec respawns forever so i simply dont care for npc and allow others to mine without npc troubles.

put 5 cargo expanders on a brutix in low slots so you can mind twice as long as with it normal cargo capacity

Hi: 5 Miner2's 2 Light Neutron 2's W/Iridium Charges
Med: 1 10mn AB 2 1 Small Cap Recharger
Low: 3 CPU 2's 1 Med Armor Repair 1 Cap Relay
I also Carry 4 Ogre's with me. This allows me to take out any Rat's in .5 or Higher and will sometimes work in .4.

forget the blasters. 7 miner II's as many co processor II's as needed and then a small or medium shield booster (and 10 medium drones), the brutix has enough shield and armor to not worry about 0.5 rats.

7 Civilian Pulse lasers...oh wait, Miner IIs. 4 Named Cap charge 1 Small T2 Repairer, 4 CoPro IIs.
My alt sits in belts and tanks all 0.5 and above rats with ease, and she only has Energy sys op & Energy Management 3.

Edited by: Perlustro on 06/07/2005 13:54:13 I regularily mine in 0.2 with my Brutix, my setup is much the same as those mentioned here but I fit an webber for the rats. I only use combat drones to fly defence and can cope with a 5 rat spawn with an Arch Reaver. I do align for warp first and have a Blasterax on standby in system for any pirates that may happen by.
I now use it exclusively to mine, my Retriever was a waste of time in comparison / reward (although has less drag and drop going for it) and keep my Thron combat equiped. So, a good investment and you can obviously use it for Level 3 missions if you're fairly new.
