Well, I must say it's been going very well.
Last night alone we destroyed eight mining barges in empire and gained a nice assortment of loot.
Also, as we went along we picked up volunteers to add to our gang. Two people paid us isk to help our cause and one person gave us ships and missles.
A good time was had by all. |

Yeah I bet that! Those barge players must had you convoed and told you how much fun they had when you spoiled their game while they were doing their own stuff.
I hope someone finds out your main and gives you same "fun".
.. oh and on the other hand you pie-rats whine how prices are going up because noone is mining low end minerals anymore. Your just helping to cause inflation and shortage on mineral supply. Be proud for affecting WHOLE EVE! _______________________________________________ My opinions aren't my corporations opinions.

Take an eco class. Level 4 missions are causing "inflation" by printing billions of ISK, every day. Mineral prices have already hit their NPC-imposed celing, so quit threatening pirates with economic retribution when CCP has already declared that Soviet Eve will not have trit above 3.15 a unit. ---- Why is it so easy to steal ore ? |

And there we go again. You pirates take always this lvl4 dilemma. You cried and they were just nerffed. Now all carebears are in low sec space.. go and kill 'em. CCP have provided you tools to kill people! And what comes to economy being ****** up, well yes but back in lvl3 mission days, same could have been done. And not all is able to solo lvl4 missions easily so .. _______________________________________________ My opinions aren't my corporations opinions.

Actually that is a bannable offence stated by CCP... So if any you can create an alt but you can't delete it if it can't fly into high sec....
But I still doubt BD's statement, he have only killed one Kestrel as far as I know.... (checking eve-kill) and his corp is not even listed there...
Still thinks this is just Ashley's and Dog's way of trying to get some fame..... what a shame!

It's not about hiding in empire. It's that sitting in empire and mining scord and other low-ends is more profitable than trying to get the mid-range ores (jasp, hemo and hedb).
Just take a look at the markets, especially in and around the hub systems, and look at the levels of demand for trit and pyer. Then tell me how you expect this level of demand to be met by anything but strip-mining barge teams. This demand is being generated by the producers, who need it to produce all the stuff you find on the market.
Stop carebears mining in empire, and the mineral supply for the empire producers dries up. Shortly after that, the supply of ships and modules on the market will dry up. Then you'll see inflation at levels that will make you beg for the current situation to return. People will not relocate these operations to low-sec space as there simply isn't enough infrastructure out there to support it.
Shooting up miners in empire space might be amusing, and popular in certain circles, but it won't be doing the community as a whole any favours in the long run.

I see no problem with increasing prices. and in fact its not like people will see a difference. They all pwn level 4's in empire for no risk anyway

So basically, it's ok to strip-mine in empire as long as it's in a ship that can't be suicide-attacked by a 10-day-old alt in a frigate?

Well, then maybe you should address your grievance at the insurance system for that one It would also be nice if fighting with battleships felt like you were pounding on big-ass targets that could take serious punishment, rather than the current system where ganka setups rule and most fights are over in less than a minute.
Besides, this wouldn't just be an issue of battleships costing a fortune - it would be nigh-on impossible to actually find one. You'd likely be forced to mine for your battleships, as that's the only way sufficient minerals would be avaliable. BYOM deals and BPC's would take over from the market.

Again, it's not so much the increased prices, they're more a symptom than the real problem, which would be lack of supply. Imagine a situation where a thorax is as hard to find as a deimos. Finding even tech 1 mods would become a mission all in itself. In this sort of situation, you'd see most people being forced to become part-time miner/producers just to keep themselves supplied.
I admit that this is the extreme of what could happen, and hopefully the community as a whole can show enough fortitude and ingenuity to avoid such a downward slide, however much certain elements try to push towards it.

Then you are selling to very dumb people since it is possible to produce virtually infinite amounts of Trit without any work at that price.

Yes, the beauty of Eve is that you can be anything. Including someone who complains about what you do at every oppourtunity. By being a terrorist, you do something you know will annoy people. Either live with the resulting complaints, or don't slow down to give me your stuff on the way out
Originally by: Shirei Then you are selling to very dumb people since it is possible to produce virtually infinite amounts of Trit without any work at that price.
I assume you are referring to the method of buying items off NPC's and refining them? If so, I'm curious how you can make "virtually infinite" amounts without buying up enough to trigger the NPC price increases.

Interesting topic, not so much the pirating barges but more the economics. If you look at the game as a whole, wotever happens there is always econimical balance. As an example, lvl4 mission runners make copious amounts of isk and reduce the amount of miners... but there will come a point where there will be so much more profit in mining even low end minerals (as there is starting to at the moment) that the lvl4 mission runners will start to mine to make even more profit...
People that need Isk will always take the shortest safest and quickest route to making it(mining)... just human nature!
I say let people play the game as they wish, thats the beauty of this game, what will happen will happen!
