...by which you mean of course, that it is not good for agent-running or NPC hunting now that it has been turned into a real EW platform. Not that it was a comparably crappy ship for hunting before... ______________________________________________________ Deep Space Services : Risk is our business, security our service. |

with the ew nerf that's already making the scorp the worst teir 1 battleship. the missle nerf will guarantee that the scorp can be killed by a group of 5 interceptors

Eh? Why would implants make it better? They don't. Also, 'level 4' skills? The hell? I'm assuming you mean skills at level 4, which is wrong. You often need skills at level 5 in order to pilot BS. Gunnery level 5 for BS sized guns, for example.
The Scorp is alot more balanced now, since before the patch the only skill you needed was Electronic Warfare at level 1 and BS at level 1. That's it. You could then stop any other BS piloted by any pilot of any skill level from firing all their weapons, all the time.
Reeeal balanced. ---------------- Haha, stupid monkey! Now I'VE got the Oscar! Enjoy your worthless gun! |

Stop whining.
If you don't like the Scorp anymore, go fly something else.

These people dont seem to think the scorp is ruined.. All it means is that you know need more than 2million skillpoints to pilot one, which indeed you may call "balanced".

There are plenty of ships that would be killed by 5 interceptors.

BTW, the Scorp has always taking alot of skills to fly competently. 5 Inties should've been able to get the job done prior to the patch too.

You sir are a complete idiot.
The scorp can jam up to 6 battleships (which is ALOT more than previous.) at a time now you just need more than.. lvl 1 jamming to be able to do so. It also does this quite often if you have the proper skills. ~~ Hyey

Edited by: Hollborn on 25/04/2005 14:08:18 Scorps have been useless for NPCing for ages now. Ever since the patch that no longer allowed you to jam NPCs.
Scorps are no longer the noobs PvP BS. You can still fight the scorp with low skills. But now people with higher skills can fly it more effectivly. Which I think is better. Because noobs don't jump into Tempests and wreck for massive damage without training lots and lots of skills why should noobs jumps into Scorps and jam other battleships 100% every time.
I am really happy with the EW changes. Pat on the back to CCP on a job well done.

Edited by: Gift on 25/04/2005 15:19:17 I am the only one who thinks the scorp was never much of a bs anyway?
It's very slow, agility is terrible for being the smallest bs, it's damage was a joke but EW made it scarey. So whats the problem?

Should have had a Tech II backup array. Works wonders to prevent jams. I've beaten scorps with that setup and they die really quick because they don't carry a tank at all.

Urg you can still use the Scorp for lvl4 missions unless I have been imagining the ones I have been doing over the past coule of days...and a under 2mil SO character aswell...so pretty much you are wrong about that,,,and so is everybody else that says you cant

Rubbish! I'm putting a scorp through it's paces, and IMO it _rocks_. A decent shield tank _and_ room to jam things is lovely. Or less tank, and room to jam _lots_ of things if you're flying with a group.
OK, so it doesn't spoon out damage like a raven (which is, after all, a tier 2 battleship) but with EW being viable vs npcs, it's now excellent fun to do missions in.
This is with EW skills trained for the last couple of days, so I'm going to assume that it's only going to get better.

Oh ok, they sure are. Try running some numbers. A Racial jammer that matches your sensor type will jam you 50% of the time in a BS, but if you add in Backup Array II, it puts the odds in your favor enough that any scorpian foolish enough to load up his mids with jammers instead of some shield tank is going to get WTFPWN and if they are stupid enough to still fill mid-slots with multis you can really giggle at the jam rate they have.

I noticed that the Scorp has 9000 cap whereas the Raven has 9500 cap. Keeping in mind that passive cap recharge is based on total cap is this a big drawback?

A ship with 9000 capacitor would be uber. That's powergrid you're looking at, and the Scorpion has no problems with fitting unless you want four Tachyons or something. |

I suggest you actually run some numbers yourself. Take a look here.
All one backup array is going to do on a bs is reduce your chance of being jammed by about 5%. Is that really worth sacrificing one of your low slots?
