Good way
Originally by: Chribba Is there any use for ppl to be able to bid 25M if the seller sets start at 50M?
Not really. If we want to get lower bids than what we want for an item, we have the possibility to have a reserve.
Originally by: me - Give the seller the choice between having a hidden and a seen reserve
Originally by: Chribba What do you others think about hidden/seen reserve [...] ?
We can put the reserve in the "description" if we want to have it out in the open, so this ain't that important after all.
Some more suggestions :)
- Make it possible to edit auctions, so if you loose the item or whatever, you can tell bidders about it etc.
- Show the sellers name on both the "Home" page and the "Auctions" page.
- Make a place to put sell orders as well maybe?

Wondering if the ratings system may be buggy?
I've sold one item on your site. Everything has gone flawlessly so far. But I've managed to get a negative seller rating?!?
75% / 25% <--- according to this I've sold 4 items... 3 with good feedback and 1 with negative?
Kinda confused with the rating system is all.

someone must have tested the negative button r sum, but i dont think we need a rank system in this, since ppl that just got ganked from the person and lost 500 mill in equip. will defenetly put a - standing when the killer is selling his stuff :p

The rating system: Currently you are only allowed to give one "vote" to a user, either + or - As you say this may not be much of use. Perhaps removing it total an add the + - to the comments instead, that way you can comment a user and give rating, weather it is when buying or not. Thoughts?
Will try make a smart way of adding categories and thus make them browseable. Same for adding sellername in all pages.

And I thought you actually had the items being sold? ;)) What types should be editabel? Currently editing is not allowed since I felt that it might allow users to modify their auctions a negative way, eg increasing buyout prices or reserve as the items get popular, but I may have to rethink?
What do you mean by your last suggestion?

Sounds good to me. Perhaps limit this to the winner of the auction?

I was only thinking about the text, but you could let people edit the other stuff as well. Maybe let the text be editable at all times, and only let the other stuff be editable for an hour/¢ an hour? This could be nice in case you make a typo or smthn like that (or forget to set a proper end time, oops )

A place to sell stuff, let's say I have 15 tempests I want to sell, but I don't want to pay sales tax or want to let my product be more "seen". "Sell orders" wasn't the right way to put, I think I was tired when I wrote that :p
edit - As an example for why editing could be nice - Click meh!. Seller has not stated the location of the nocx, which imo is very important.

Ranking removed, added Positive/Negative/Neutral to comments instead. Currently everyone is able to give comments but this can be changed if abused.
You can edit Title and description of your auctions via my auctions page (not on finished auctions though).

Edited by: Chribba on 03/05/2005 07:39:56 My fault, I did some changes yesterday and for some reason missed one line of code. It is fixed now.
Thank you for noticing.
Edit: Also fixed what seemed to be a bug in the mailing system for auction winners.

Question is if we want location? Perhaps the seller puts it in the description instead.
Why you ask, well for example someone auctions a Jove BS ;) Do he/she really want to reveal the location other than to the winner?
Sure a user may just simple leave the location field empty if so, but that field would be just like putting the location in the description I think.
But of course I will implement it if you all think there is a need for that field.

Thanks! Error fixed now.
The part about driving up the prices is good, should such a list of bidders be viewable to all or just the sellers?
As to flame one to death, well maybe just allow a winner to post their comment?
And you are right about it needs some work, hopefully I will get there sometime :)

Feature added: Real-time info of your auction.
I added a feature so that you can easily link your EVE-Bay auction on other forums/services in the form of an image.
Example here
How to do this? Simply post an image here (image button) and use the following link: http://www.myevebay.com/item_image.dxd?id=ID
Remember to _change_ the ID to the id of your auction. And also remember to use the link above, DO NOT copy the full URL you get when surfing to the link as it is different from the one typed above!!
Also perhaps for nicer post I would recommend that you center the image and perhaps link the image to your auction.
A post may look like this: [ center ][ url="http://www.myevebay.com/item.dxd?id=20" ][ IMG ]http://www.myevebay.com/item_image.dxd?id=20[ /IMG ][ /url ][ /center ]

Edited by: Takagamu on 09/05/2005 10:52:00 Um yeah, check my eve-bay topic ... description is cut off right and at the bottom.
I'd check the length, add a CRLF there and make the height of the image dynamic in order to get the image right.
Other suggestions: - Get a better provider, quite a few downtimes :/ - Allow us to edit all fields of an auction, when nobody stated a bid yet. If there is a bid, block them like it is now. - Add a field "Location", so we can tell the bidder where the item is. This field must be editable everytime, even when there are bids. - Don't show this "No image available"-Image when there is no image. Simply let the space free (if possible). - Implement a history so I can see who bidded (how much) on my item (for security purposes and in order to get in contact with other bidders). - Send a mail when a bid was placed (or an overview once a day, because of traffic issues). - Add a "multiple" input field to the form, so I can create e.g. 5 BPC packages at a time (5 different auctions). Lock it down to 5 inserts at a time, so people can't spam.
Keep up the work :)
---- - Change the default sort order under "My auctions" to TIME LEFT descending, so the closed auctions get to the bottom of the list.

Great job. I like the look of it, it's clean and easy to use. I setup an account and already posted an auction. I will continue to post on here and on your site.
Keep it up and everyone, let's make eve-bay as popular as Ebay.
This sell forum is WAY too active for the tools that are provided us (i.e. no search function) so it's nice to have a good alternative.

Noted down your suggestions and will start with some of them asap. The Location request was prompted before as well and I decided not to implement it at this time as it would be easier to use the descriptioin. As for editing fields, a good way may be to allow edit of everything if there is no bid yet yes.
A private history to the seller could be implemented. Image removal on "no image" is easy too. Will look over the "real-time image" text.
Email on bid, yes and no, I have thoughts of it but it is currently not on top of the list.
Multiple auctions should be doable fairly easy as well. And the sort order for auctions should be set now.
Not sure about the "better provider" suggestion though ;)) It is currently a dedicated 100mbit link, however I have experienced some packet loss on the TS-server for the .US users, so I know there are routing issues currently, but that is nothing I can do anything about. Plus I must mention that last week Wed-Fri there was major issues as I lost my DNS-servers which also points EVE-Bay.
That might have been some of the downtimes you talk about, and that was unlucky as the DNS and EVE-Bay are not on the same links, but I have added more DNS-servers to prevent this from happening again (More info here).
Thank you for your suggestions.

Yeah I noticed that too, I thought I fixed that before as well but apparently it didn't. But I am aware of it so I will be taking care of it.
As for the "multiple items" it has now been fixed. You can chose amount of items on the sell page.
