Guided tour of EVE
Quote:Finally, some of the games we have acquired (for instance Dwarf Fortress and EVE Online) take years and millions of people to manifest fully. To convey their experience, we will work with players and designers to create guided tours of these alternate worlds, so the visitor can begin to appreciate the extent and possibilities of the complex gameplay.
"And here to our left we have Jita 4-4, home to scammers everywhere. Don't bother reading local chatter, it's a cacophony of chatter that makes your spam email box look like a disinfected baby bottom."
"To our right we have the Amamake gate. The Trolololo's of EVE douchery are strong in this place."
"And welcome to the Goonswarm Capital city, the epic highlight of EVE civilization. Full of the same quirky cultural elements of any successful society - bigotry, isolationism, prejudice and blind faith to the national dogma"

Will you have a Disney World ride soon?

I can just imagine what the guided tour of Eve Online will be like...
Participants are led to a small room, where the lights suddenly go out and some big dudes start kicking them in the kidneys. Someone gives them night vision goggles, and an economics book, and tells them the kicking stops when they memorize the book. |

Wow. As a student of Art History, I am impressed !
5 games on that list were played endlessly by me. Always thought I had good taste in graphics
EDIT: The first film selected by MoMA for their Film Archive was Tobe Hooper's "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". RIP Vile Rat-á "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about." - Oscar Wilde |

I like modern art, but a lot of this stuff is just gimmicky, IMO. For example, the guy with the clothes iron art. Cloth scorched with the imprint of a hot iron. OK, one's kind of interesting, but a whole room of them? Iron scorches making a rectangular grid. Iron scorches in concentric circles. Iron scorches making a triangle. The guy got a whole gallery devoted to his 30 or so hot iron works.
Another one: Black and white photography of things framed by lumber. Old Volkswagen van with a frame of two by four inch boards build around it. Same for a trash can. Same for a desk. A whole gallery of photos of things this guy could come up with to frame.

Those guys are both playing with the tropes of Minimalism....exploration through repetition of a simple form.
The MoMA articles states quite clearly that these games adhere more towards the tenents of Graphical Arts and Design, not necessarily fine art. RIP Vile Rat-á "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about." - Oscar Wilde |

The 3rd one wouldnt happen...the tourist ship would be OMGWTFPWNT on the Ammamake gate with all souls lost, except the capsuleer captain who awoke in his homestation, assembled a new ship and announced the new tour would start in 10 mins. Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

Just to be on the list with some of those games is an honor in itself. I must agree, Eve does have some amazing art. The Gallente nebula still WOW me, even for how long they have been in game. Very artfully done. I bet the devs @ CCP are really feeling honored by this, for all their hard work over the years to be appreciated in this manner. Kudos! So, that's all of 2 examples.
I guess it's not worth mentioning their great art like Rosenquist's F-111: https://wiki.brown.edu/confluence/download/attachments/81858986/f111.jpg?version=1&modificationDate=1319534346000
