Untrue from where I stand. I see very few Minmatar or Gallente AF's.
Yes step outside querious, i know FIX uses Amarr AF's quite a bit.
I know in catch/curse you'll see harpies, enyos and wolf's. ________________________________________________________

Yeah around catch curse its IMO: lots ofHarpy almost as many Enyos, Wolfs some Ishkurs, jags, vengeances and basically no hawks, retributions

i have a vengance i fly around in from time to time, and to be perfectly honest. im not impressed with it, im happy i only put 10 mil on the table to get it.
maybe its fitted wrong, maybe i should use beams instead of pulses, but to be honest. ive engaged about 8 other AF's with it, and i had to warp out in structure each time.
now in some cases, like when i was unlucky enough to land in the optimal range of a Gankawolf with 4x280 T2's its NOT a surprise (ouch!), nor was my failed attempt to close on a harpy so i could acturally shoot it...
but let me be honest, the Vengance does not have the durability of typical amarr ships, it does have the weakness that they all posess (slow as hell) that, paired with its resistances means that it comes out on the bottom of the foodchain AF wise. (resistances are good, but not "super")
maybe i should pick up some beam lasers and see how it goes, but fitting it as it stands takes a shoehorn (im at 0.5 PG left right now) and some serious sacrifices, like that AB that has saved my arse more than once. _____________________________ Ex-Coretech, We still shoot people. |

I like my Vengeace, and I trust it more than the Enyo I sometimes fly around in. Vengeance even made plug in a small laser damage implant. --

Question: Does the Retribution have the cap to run a decent tank and a 20km Disruptor? For how long? Beyond that, does it even have the CPU for it???
I'd suspect that you have just about zero firsthand experience with the Retribution. I'd suggest keeping your comments limited to that which you have actual experience with and not what you think "might be true".

i bought a hawk cos it looked cool, harpy is like a billion times better love the t2 150's. Wolfs pwn imo, and enyos look kool. But the vengance should be able to pwn caldari, dealing em and thermal damage which is the harpy's lowest stats, and you can;t keep an active shield tank going for ever from what i have seen on it.

Could somebody PLEASE explain to me how the vengeance could possibly match the retribution tanking?
Retribution = armour tanker, with VERY high explosive and kinetic resistances, not to mention the 60% base em res. With a thermal hardener (if needed) this ship has some bloody enormous resistances as well as a HUGE amount of armour w/extra from the FIVE low slots you can use for tanking.
Meanwhile...
Vengeance = ???
Shield tanking is inefficient because explosive + kinetic res bonus is fair useless considering they are 90% and 70% respectively, while em and thermal remain at 0% and 20%. You either have a choice between tanking or making use of those extra med slots for ab/mwd and ew. As a side note with a mwd the shields take a 25% hit putting a dent in the high shielding.
Armour tanking is also inefficient because it has a buttload less armour AND low slots than the retribution.
Hence my confuzzle duzzle.

vengeance is a armour tanker and the best of the af to do that. you can keep 2xsmall repairers on auto and have a thermal hardener.
and you dont use ab\mwd's on assault frigates Fluffy carebear (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way to world domination. |

Try fitting the wolf and jaguar decently without gimping yourself unless your going for pure gank and then tell me if this thread was worth it.
Everyone knows the minmatar AF's are the worst ones to fit with the PG and CPU issues. I still fly them and love them both but it gets to be an issue sometimes trying to fit them.
I guess it's a shame people still fly them so much.
They all must be idiots flying around doing 700damage a salvo, what purpose could that possibly serve?
You should talk to Uuve about how he one salvo'd a Taranis in his Claw. The Taranis pilot said something along the lines of "wtf".
The 700 volley wolf, is a pilot that has completely maxed out every and any damage increasing skill there is for small arties and all all turret skills. Has 4x 280 and 2x gyro. And nothing else worth mentioning fitted. And if all shots hit, you will one shot a unplated interceptor. But that's the full setup of the thing, it can't tank, can't do anything at all. Beyond those volleys. Total sacrifice for something that has a very specific usage. I use one btw, setup just like that. Like it. But a wolf is indeed a very difficult ship to setup, with a serious cpu shortage and grid is pretty tight as well. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Firstly, I don't think the "mainline" AF's were made to solo, they work great with a ceptor partner though. The "second line" AF's CAN solo if needed and really don't have much to fear from a ceptor. Heavy scout comes to mind with these.
As for the Wolf, you can set up a reasonable tank AND gank setup, just takes a little imagination. One of my corpmates flies a retribution and it never fails to succeed at its purpose, kill frigates and tank.

Dude, the Retribution has an amazing tank and it doesn't need extra slots for capac rechargers.
Just ask the gods guys that killed mine the other day. My tank lasted 7 - 10 minutes while getting heavy nos'd and attacked by a tempest and ceptor. I didn't die till an apoc came in after a few minutes and open'd up on the poor thing.
The real problem with retributions is that... they have a stong tank, hi firepwr, but no speed. When you are screw'd... it doesn't happen fast. It tends to be many minutes before you die and multiple hostiles on you.
The retributions can tank any other assult frigate, any tech I crusier and BC. v It capac never runs out. You can run 2 small rep II, hardner, and full rack of guns. Put a small named/II nos in you extra high slot.
The full tank will even with while getting nos'd by a BS i just learn'd. Since the rof of nos is around 10 sec. You recharge is enough to give you 30% capac between each nos cycle.
THE VENGANCE IS JUST CRAP, cept for tackling, but a ceptor does that beter.

Vengeance is best used as a fat, slow, weak malediction. It's got great shields and resistances but it's slow, has no damage bonus and only a fair tackler. Best use I've found for it is to scare off enemy scouts.

I'm curious, has anyone used / come up against the two used together? Vengeance for tackling, Retribution for damage dealing? Obviously the former is a poor tank and the latter incapable of EW. Maybe they're intended to compliment each other rather than be used solo.

I havent used my Retribution for pvp but I sure love the dmg. 4 med pulses tech 2 with 3 heatsink 2s makes alot of dmg. And its fast enough with a gistii ab. I also finished the pirat extravaganza lvl 3 mission :D _____________________________________________

Never used my Vengeance, and use my Retribution for PvE mostly, b/c there really isn't much of a point to bring it out for PvP when I can hop in a Crusader and be as effective (or more so) when it comes to tackling and damage dealing.
Not only does the Retri need a second Mid slot so its not almost completely useless COMPARED to other AFs, it should be given a 5th turret spot now that pulse laser optimals have been reduced and aren't the so-called 'unbalanced uber weapons' peeps claim.

I flew my vengeance for a couple of weeks before getting a retribution. The damage difference is insane. I'd hate to go up against a mixed group of amarr af's. Vengeance has really good shields and armor and can tackle. Retribution insane armor and ungodly damage. Vengeance holds 'em Retribution hits em in the face with a sledgehammer. I think a mixed pack of 4 or 5 af's would do serious damage all together cost less thana tier 2 BS.

well vengeance should get some love, as it has same dmg output as punisher... ok it is tougher, but costs more & is slow heavy ******...
retribution is perfect in its role... microgeddon. You can get 8 dmg mod & rof like 2s... all you need is webby. Or even nastier setup with medium beams II... can take out any other af except minmater... those are pain for any amarr ship anyway.
