As it is now, the amarr Assualt Frigates are useless. The vengeance cant tank cant gank not really good at anything, the retribution would be fine with 2 midslots, but as it is now with only 1 u cant do anything in it, its 99% of the time used for afterburner or mwd if u like that. A frig needs speed without it ur not gonna do much, but when i have that ab fitted means no chance of being able to scramble your enemy they can just fly of whenever they want, so give us 1 more midslot remove one of the highslots then we would have atleast one useful AF.

Weirda can generally kill anything before it can 'fly off' with retribution, and if it's too large to kill that quick, just have a buddy in vigil, and no Cruiser/BC is safe. -- Thread Killer

oh boy, yet another post on how amarr suck.....SHEESH!
Amarr af's are just as deadly as any other af. Its just how you set it up and how you fly it. MWD's don't really go on af's anyway, they are designed to tackle the tacklers. They are NOT designed as super tough tacklers, they just lack the speed. Ya sure, interceptors will fly away out of your range and warp off if you try to engage them in small fleet/1v1 stuff but thats what they are supposed to be able to do. Even if you put an mwd on an af of any race it would still have the same problem. Just put a webber on and hope for the best. Amarr af's CAN tank and DO tank very nicely. Although I must agree with you that the one mid slot on the retribution kinda blows.

I hope your both joking. The Wolf is a wonderful ship, up there with the Enyo and Harpy as the best AFs. I fly a Wolf 90% of the time I want to fly an AF (and I can fly them all bar Caldari). The Jag is perhaps less useful, but it does have the distinction of being capable of arguably the best shield tank possible on a frig.
The Amarr AFs are on totally different level. The Retribution can tank nicely, and can deal ok damage(as opposed to excellent damage before the pulse nerf). However, one mid slot is far too restrictive for normal PvP use. I need to be able to move quickly *and* scramble. The Vengeance is the most useless AF of them all. It excels at nothing. Crappy damage and a moderate tank reduce it to the role of an overweight tackler.
There is a reason that you see virtually no Amarr AFs used in PvP compared to the other races. It's because they suck. ----------------------------------------

I guess the fact that a Retribution basically has zero solo potential doesn't feed in to any balance issues?
All other AF's do.
All i see in pvp in terms of AF's are wolf's, enyo's and harpies.

The vengeance is 1 of THE best AF tankers out there, i have a VERY respectable and sturdy armour tank backed up by a gistii shield booster, the ship is very dependable.
Tanked AF's do NOT require mwd/ab's its a waste of a slot, if you cant take some damage then your ships setup wrong. __________________________________________

armor & shield tank is just bad. And i wonder what can vengeance do vs. retribution? Run probably... Retribution is uber, just too bad you cannot ransom thing with it... But frigs have bad habit of dying b4 warp. Vengeance is just in class of Hawk - useless. Ishkur & Jaguar are little brothers, but are good.

Yes, the Amarr AFs do suck.. solo. Amarr are like the most social society of EVE anyhow, especially in the upper tiers of the republic. Form precedes function. Obey.
And the guy who said something about gistii boosters.. you're entitled to smack yourself in the head whenever you get around to feeling like doing so.
My work is done here.

i trained lvl 5 amarr frig for the vengence and well i wish i hadnt now...
its really bad for dmg dealing - its crap for a tank really.
Retribution is ok but you cant really use it solo in pvp, and tbh that essential for me. just use it for agent missions really.
vengence needs summin.... -------------------------------------------------------- Im Your Huckleberry ;-)

AFs don't need speed. End of story. Vengeance tanks like a mofo. And the retribution is a sweet ship. Once i can fit 4 Medium Beam Laser IIs, and having 3-5 grid spare, Amarr AFs might be worthwhile. Untill then, ill just keep soloing lvl4 complexes in them.

mate to be effective in a any AF u need a webber or u use dual lights, 125mm for tracking etc
so using ur sole mid slot for a 20km disruptor is pointless unless u fighting t1 cruisers. ceptors can just get outa range litterally within seconds.
ok so u got a webber in ur mid slot ok thats great, now uve webbed ur target which would prolly mostly be a ceptor as there very common in 0.0, it can still warp off, but ur thinking it wont matter cus il kill it b4 it will. Mebbie so but ur restricted to 10km opt range and ur now screwed by a orbiting crow till his mates arrive.
med pulse II with radios get what 15km? 2km falloff? still not enuf to get insta gank is it.
depending of circumstances yes you could solo in it, but why would u want to? its not very effective, take the time and train gallente and get the enyo - i wasted 9days training time on these AF's - they need summin more b4 i feel ive got my training times worth.

comment this: 4x medium beam II 1x named web(20cpu) t2 aru, n-type th hardener, cap relay, tracking enhancerII, mapc
vs this: 4x medium pulseII 1x disruptor t2 aru, ntype th., cap relay x2, hsII
vs this: 4x dual light beamII 1x disruptor i don't know what will fit never bothered with these
just remember... enyos use 125mm railguns and wolfs use 250mm guns mostly(except 280mm insta gankers)
After pulse nerf i really don't like setup number 2. But tell me of non minmater af that can mess with first one.

Let me rephrase since peeps seem to have missed my point:
Try fitting the wolf and jaguar decently without gimping yourself unless your going for pure gank and then tell me if this thread was worth it.
Everyone knows the minmatar AF's are the worst ones to fit with the PG and CPU issues. I still fly them and love them both but it gets to be an issue sometimes trying to fit them.

Most general purpose Wolfs and Enyos and Harpys fit the second-best guns yes. Does not take away the option of using the best though, and that's exactly what i want. Insta damage is underestimated.

I guess it's a shame people still fly them so much.
They all must be idiots flying around doing 700damage a salvo, what purpose could that possibly serve?
You should talk to Uuve about how he one salvo'd a Taranis in his Claw. The Taranis pilot said something along the lines of "wtf".

Edited by: Bruchpilot on 02/05/2005 21:31:00 Why is everyone trying to fit web and scramblers on their AFs? Wolf has just 2 slots to shield tank and not enough CPU to fit it, should we start to complain about that? it still rocks if you know how to fit it.
I agree that med beam lasers need a small pg fix but every AF has its limitations. Harpy lacks on CPU. The Wolf lacks both. I dont know about the other AFs cuz I never used them.

That's odd. I see them way more than anything else. Maybe it's a regional thing? I saw 2-3 Wolfs for every Harpy in EC last week.
Either way, the Enyo and Wolf are still the two top selling ships on NAGA -> clicky
Edit: Bah, I forgot NAGA doesn't sell Harpys. Still, the point stands. ----------------------------------------

You should talk to Uuve about how he one salvo'd a Taranis in his Claw. The Taranis pilot said something along the lines of "wtf".
And I've one salvo'd a Crow in my Wolf its not that hard to do. It is also called officer modules and a dmg mod that was god-like. I am not stating that its not possible what I am stating is that they are hard to fit in the overall scheme. Normally on most ships you can fit a tank with a decent damage mod or at least have room for a decent tank. The Jag and Wolf suck at both unless you gimp your weapon load out to autocannons for the most part. Not exactly something that is a good thing on a ship such as the wolf.
I'm not complaining here for the damage mods, I like my insta gank set-up that half of EVE uses on their wolves but I'd also like to be able to make it survive a bit longer if I need to which isn't really possible as it can be with certain other AF's.
To sum it up: Gank = awesome in some circumstances but it is always nice to have another alternative when you need it by being able to tank. Damage is great when your running around solo or in a small pack but sometimes you actually DO need to be able to set up differently depending on what the group needs. That is what the Minmatar AF's lack in all honesty.

yeah tbh i see very few gallente AF's about where i am - come across mebbie two in the past month tho caldari's are everywhere and wolfs being a close 2nd.
good for me i guess, as the enyo is the best gallente can offer cept for the deimos ofc. -------------------------------------------------------- Im Your Huckleberry ;-)
