Back in the day, the Macheriel had a tracking bonus. The Mega also has a tracking bonus AND has the same "engine" on it. I always supposed that that "thing" was some sort of "housing" for a "tracking device."
Alternatively, it could also be a giant escape pod.

Obviously that's the turbo - when you go through space it collects hydrogen atoms and compresses them into the actual engines. I used to have a Mitsubishi turbo - it was so powerful it actually blew up the engine - be careful how you use your machariel turbo :) |
