I repropose this topic again, just for discuss about that tempest:
What about a fitting that allow you to face every enemy? Most Tempest pilot fit the ship for get mega damage, but a closing interceptor or assault ship become a serious treat.
High Slots 5x 1400mm II 1x Heavy Energy Neutralizer 2x Missile Launchers (or 1x 1400mm again)
Med Slots 1x AfterBurner II 1x ECM Projector (or another target painter / tracking computer) 1x Target Painter 1x Sensor Booster 1x Shield Hit points module
Low Slot 2x RCU II 1x PDS 2x Gyro II 1x Medium Armor Repairer
Now think this: you are the fastest BS... so no BS can get close on you. All ship more small than a Battlecruiser will be neutralized by the heavy neutralizer...
Now check this: http://www.ittensohn.ch/eve/eve-tracking.html
1400 do not need truly a tracking computer agains big targets or approaching target... a interceptor that try to close you must approach... this cause his transversal speed go at about 30... so 1400 can hit (and need only 1 shot to******him).
If it come at 25 km, you neutralize him in 1 sec, forcing him to go at normal speed.
Heavy ships like BS are forced to engage you at far distance... where 1400 rule.
You move in the space by warping at 60 km from the point, so you always have the distance from the target.
Now consider a HAS that come close... heavy neutralizer is terrible for her. Except in the case he have cap booster, he die immediately...
Pls comments on this...

Ugh the tempest is not the fastest BS in the game. The both the typhoon and the machariel have a faster base speed and anything with an MWD will be able to close on you.

Just cause a Inty is going normal speed doesnt mean youll hit it.
and Intys dont need to "Approach" you... Thats like the worst thing they can do
A hac that gets into close range would be able to take this down
Dont expect that you will be fighting at long range cause it WONT always happen

Tempest is very fast... even if a bs can get close, it take time without a MWD... and if he fit a MWD he can reach about 1200 m/s... it mean that he take about 20 / 25 seconds to get close with a +550 signature.. if you look in the tracking uide, it mean that all my 6 1400 hit him well for at least two times... another thing MWD take much capaitor... so rpatically he get close with great damage, low capacitor, and I have also a neutralizer...
And in final... meanhwile he is getting close I can try to outrun him so it take even much time

Are you talking about PVE? Because in PVP, you rarely get the range you want if they warp in to you. Your setup is defensively very weak. Plus what if you are facing a ship with a sensor damper on it? or multispec scorp? or blasterthron that lands close? or deimos? or ..... so on and so forth
Why dont you just DIE DIE DIE !!!!

in 80% of fights, your foe will know where you are. Actually, I just made up the 80%, I'm willing to bet it's far higher than that. Your setup has -some- value if used in a large group for fleet pvp, but not much, you're wasting too many slots on shield HP modules ect.

Problem is that you are assuming the other guy doesnt have any EW at all. What if its a dominix with sensor damps using an mwd to close into you? Or a megathron with an inty partner. A scorp with EW would totally demolish the setup this guy suggested.
People have got to realise that it is practically impossible to fit any ship in this game to counter all other ships.

If you activate a MWD at 60 km from 6 1400mm, probabilty the tempest pilot*****in your face...
WEll... I was talking about the range problem:
1. Warp in at 60 km 2. Keep in range at 80 km
All big ship are outrunned except they use MWD but if they use MWD you can hit them very hard 3 or 4 times before they get close... and 6 1400 that place well aimed hits are to be considered dangerous...
Small ship that get close are drained by neutralizer... A ship that try to jam you: well with an ecm profector... must a skorpin can jam you and it is much probability that you get some shots at it before you are jammed (and you cannot be always jammed)... skorpin have a 115 speed... tempest have 140 speed and a less mass so AB give to you more trust. This actually cause that Skorpion is forced to stay at a not optimal jammer range... meanwhile your 1400 are optimal with +60% projectile.
Now, the 80% enemy know where you are:
How can you know in what system a possible treath is? Perphas you can know this if you are going for a official 1vs1... but in a wild contest it is just a random thing... and tendentialy if someone want to start at distance he can start...
Finally: I am not saying that this is the best fitting of the world, capable of do anything and go out from anything, I am saying that probabilty it give you 70% changes agains all odds (consider yet escaping) than 100% agains 1 type of odds and 10% agains others...

1. ECCM projector gives others a boost to their ECCM strength, not yourself. 2. You will die so fast to anything with more firepower then a noob frigate that you'll be going "hi... OMG... WTF... boom" 3. Has to approach, yeah they do. A good interceptor pilot will completely ignore your shots, unless you get really really lucky. 4. Heavy BS are forced to engage you at long range? Are we playing the same game? 5. Hac can deal with a single large neutralizer in a LOT of cases. Only ship that might have a serious problem is a deimos due it's extreme cap usage while shooting you. But HACs got battleship cap recharge. Not cruiser cap. And they can deal with some serious cap usage. 6. You warp in at 60km so you always have range. What you're the only that ever uses the 60km warp in? A short ranger that lands 30km from you, with 5x 1400 and only 2 gyros, will completely shred you. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Ok, lets assume for the arguments sake that you will keep your distance. And then what, he will just warp away?
Ah, you know that he will not warp away and that he wont come close to you? Why not fit a full rack of 1400mm IIs and gyros

I agree Vashna some people aren't happy with any setup unless they've assembled a big giant "win" button they can press when ever they face the dreaded hauler approaching a gate... Your post is a nice example of how Matari can be ready for "almost" every ship that comes against it.

I was simply trying to find a fitting that allow me NOT TO FACE WELL ANYTHING, but that give me several options agains several treats.
Instead of say: "HAC can deal with one single neutralizer" try to find some changes in the fitting that allow better distribution of strategies (like: 2 neutralizer and 4 1400...)... I ALREADY KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT THE BEST FITTING FOR ANYTHING BUT I AM NOT TRYING TO FIT TEMPEST TO FACE ALL THING WELL, I AM TRYING A FITTING THAT GIVE ME SOME CHANGES AGAINS ALL...
so if you CAN read the topic and talk about it post replies.. if you here for write some faboulous personal opinions find another topic.

Horrible setup. These "I'm prepared for every situation," people always go down fast because they do nothing well. Find a way to dominate in one or two situations and then just pick your battles very carefully. Trying to be a jack-of-all-trades doesn't work in Eve. You just end up being a jack-of-nothing and you die.
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, in practice there is.

You have two options with the Tempest and it depends on who else you're flying with to what set-up you use.
Solo or small ganking squad
Then go close range, armour tanked with a full rack of 800's or Duel 650's
Medium ganking squad or full out fleet
Then go maximum damage as fast as possible
Just remember the tempest is a gun ship, all it's natural bonuses are for large projectiles.

with 800 II you can******an enemy BS pretty fast, about 800 DPS, not as good as geddon with its 1000+ DPS but still better then a tempest with 1400 II, which has under 800 DPS
and 1400 work best from 40-120 km or so, thats at least where I use them, but you have problems to fit decently with them
best would be 1200 II for a more solo oriantated 20-60km range fitting, with decent skill you get hits for about 800 against unhardened targets, with exellents going close to the 1000 Wanna fly with me?
