You don't suppose there's any chance CCP would fix that?

None whatsoever. CCP can't even fix bugs.
Well with comments like that why should they?

I don't see what's wrong with it, they could be thrusters to turn the ship or something. _________________

Yeah, firing in the opposite directions to squash it like the bug it is.

Actually it would be cool if ships had small thrusters in each direction, like the Viper MkVII from BSG.

Lol that`s nothing. The Raven and the Thorax and many many other ships would fly in circles if we had physics thanks to randomly placed assymetric engines. It`s just a game though so let them place engine where they want. My vengeance has engines on antennas even. It`s more like a moving sun than a ship.

Not if different parts of the ship had different mass.
Centralised thrusters only work if the ship has a centralised mass. If the ship has a greater mass on its left side, its left side will need more thrust to prevent the ship going round in circles.
With the gallente ships large drone bays is it that hard to believe that certain parts of the ship will be hollow, thus changing the ships center mass location and requiring un-equally spaced thrusters to maintain stability? Since when do engine placement, turret placement or general ship design make any sense if it would have been a real ship?

Edited by: Clementina on 16/05/2005 22:48:00 Yes the Griffin Engine Placement makes no sense, I should know, I fly one. I'm just glad it dosn't take fuel to power the ships, else OPEC would be getting rich off of me.

tbh guys, the Griffin is the most plausable ship ingame. And its because of those thrusters. Had this been real space, the other ships would just float off in weird directors because there is nothing to stop them from going sideways. With all those thrusters on the Griffin firing at a small but equal force, the Griffin stays straight Vin Diesel claims he has never hailed a taxi. He just runs up to them at stop lights, opens the door, shoves the current passenger over, and tells the cab driver what his new destination is. |

NO! They'd have to be firing at a slightly UNequal force, to compensate for any sideways forces or movement. Any force in perfectly opposite directs perfectly cancels out, so, as they said before, both ones firing at once is stupid. Furthermore, even if you ignore everything else, having the fire-ish stuff (I haven't had enough sleep to remember what it's called) going out perfectly sideways no matter how fast the ship moves is just plain stupid.
The ugliness of Caldari ships (except for the Merlin/Hawk/Harpy!!!) has always bothered me, but the Griffin looks like it was designed by someone who thinks "physics" means "the magical art of predicting the future with a crystal ball". ___________________________________________ ^^^***---All things serve the Beam---***^^^ |

Who says thrust is even directional in this age? All those are doing is supplying the gravitonoplasmicwhatsosphere which governs mass relocation.

I'd say they swap all stats between the griffin and the heron.
That way the griffin goes to Doomheim, where the heron currently resides, even though it's way better looking.
