So I read the large dialog from Hellmar on Eve Radio and therein was a link to "the future vision" of Eve.
In the end, the main character whome the video is centered around gets a pistol pointed at his head.
Now if I would never ever leave my pod, spin the ol' ships, and let the noobs and other players walk in stations and show off their clothes to their hearts content, it would not make a difference to me. I would even hope that the old school FiS crowd always has the option to stay in capsule forever and let F2P (which the old-school crowd will probably refer to as "freetards") players prance about in skirts.
One thing is certain: I would never do any MT. Period. Never have done MT in any game so far, and never bought a plex, and never planned on it.
But if there is going to be melee with weapons and such, I wll be first in line to buy a blaster or whatever they call it.
Right now, another multiplayer FPS game I liked to play since 2006 is going to the wayside. The servers are empty, but DUST is not going to be ported to PC no matter how many CCP devs I threaten to molest.
Guns would mean fighitng in stations, right?
So let's have at it and make my very first MT in my life be for a hand-held weapon to use on my beloved fellow players. GÖÑ

I for one would be happy to prance through station wearing said skirt and toting a blaster rifle.
Now, after watching the video, it rises a question. If we could shoot fellow pod pilots, how would death be handled? Surrender is still your slightly less painful option. |

If the pod connects you to your clones and transmits your data just before you die to activate those clones- every sensible capsuleer would store some kind of backup before leaving his pod. So if someone kills you outside your pod, your clone would activate as if you were killed the moment you left your pod.

Yeah the "death in station" thing is something I wonder about too.

The lore may have been updated with DUST514. I think there are explanations in the DUST514 chronicles, which you can find on the website. |

I think Minmatar pilots should eb able to browse through a wide selection of pistols to purchase... like a 44 magnum, Colt 45, Desert eagle etc...
Amarr pilots get an assortment of beam or pulse laser pistols...
Caldari can have a mini missile launcher pistol
Gallente can have a 'Blaster on a stick' |

I don't know about Amarr - squirt guns with holy water? Or am I thinking about WoD?
(Sorry, couldn't help it)
"Racial" small arms would be a great idea though. Projectile weapons for Minmatar along the lines of what we have on present day Earth, and I was also thinking of those light-speed rail guns.
Hopefully the Minmatar have figured out caseless ammo by now - because I would hate to see brass cases still in use 23000 years from now - brass cases are so 19th century.

The grip angle is in line with the latest concepts in pistol design to get the webbing of the hand as high up in the line of recoil as possible. Very nice.

we can all agree here that guns are awesome. We can all agree that getting spawnraped by 15 guns when you leave your room isn't so even if they put guns in one day it will be far in the future with very high saveguards.

I for one would have sentry guns at the entrance to my quarters to help discourage that behavior.
If they make guns MT based, then there goes all my hard earned ISK.
If guns were to be added, then I would also like to see "non-lethal" weapons as will. Something like tasers, flashbangs, etc. I can just see it now, walk up to a group of newbies and drop a few flashbangs into the middle of them..... Surrender is still your slightly less painful option. |

I expect that WiS Eve will be MT based because that's the future we can't avoid but FiS Eve will stay the same lest we bitter vets start sending our soiled Depends to CCP headquarters in protest.

Maybe certain stations might have sec status. Update your clone before you leave your CQ. So it goes. |

In view of the pod lore, I'd say that death in station would amount to a loss of SP.

Not true. According to the backstory, this was a problem in the early days of pod pilots, but not anymore. There's a side-story where a Jovian dies outside of a pod, but is resurrected as a clone which had been backed up earlier. AFAIK, the Empress was also cloned so that she could evade death (which, strangely enough, is considered heresy by the Amarrians since the Emperor/Empress's body is considered holy and cloning it would be a desecration). |

IMO the lore should be that we never leave our pods. To access WiS and fighting in stations we would contol avatars that function like the medical hologram from ST Voyager. There should be some consequence for losing a hologram/avatar. ISK or SP or both at risk. |

As I think of the possibilities I can help but almost half a stock. I'd feel discussed leaving my pod and entering the CQ. More so for walking out the door to join the sorry collection of fashion show reject fktard candy a_ _ es in the common area. My rage has the better of me however. The sting of local smack still has my face hot & burning..as if being smacked with a wet open hand. I hadem...bleading structure like a stuck pig. Just as I was in preparation to loot that shiny wreck remote reps lit up like a fking Christmas tree from a neutral domi 10 clicks off to port... Typical BS.. but this time the games changed. I have a choice. The question is do I have the balls to take what's mine...vengeance. From across the dimly lit concourse I see him. Talking to his buddy while handing home something I can quite make out. Fkit he's mine. Reaching down to unstrap my weapon, he catches sight of me. Nothing is offered but a smile and a blown kiss through a snide smirk. Cold as ice I rise to my feet. I hear nothing in the bustling room but my breathing..silence & cold calculated murder dominant my thoughts. Not a glint of consequence.... I reach my target who stands hands out and turned up..." what! you don't have the ba... Before he's finished the word I've leveled off on his face. I offer half a smile as the terror fills his eyes.... As if in ultra slow motion the round leaves my prototype 50mm railgun at mach 7. The carnage in instantaneous & glorious ... my foes head is hollowed out like a canoe. Before the carcass hits the deck Concord is on me. A sharp jolt of 50 thousand volts...and down I go, looking over I see the crouwd stripping is boots, clothes and so on. Have fun replacing your clone, implants & affects dichead...lol. As for me. I've got 15 days to think about the choice. No training, no contact with anyone or anything. Just me in a 10x10 cell....one smilin mtherfker
You have the balls to pull that trigger? Eve... It's just a better class of Idiot. |

While I like the idea of having an avatar we can mindlink to from the comfort of our pod, why make it a hologram? I would much rather have the robotic body that the head of Richard Nixon had when he became president in Futurama.
The consequence should be the same as when you lose a T3 ship.
But TBH, if we have the ability to prance around the station with a weapon in hand, then I would rather do it in person. Let's see how many noobs I can take out before security can stop my murderest rampage. Surrender is still your slightly less painful option. |
