Got pod killed on thevery first time I jumped into 0.0.
Well at least I dont have to worry about implants anymore.
Sensor boosted raven piloted by "Kickass" ( dweeb of a name anyway) Locks my thorax in less than a second and then blows the ship up in another 2 seconds. Gotta love gate campers ... lol ... the same people that post on the forum that they should push more people into 0.0. Of course, gives them more targets. At any rate, he blows my rax ... fair enough ... but im ready for it and my pod warped away.
So Kickass says that I can come back through and jump back into empire giving his word he and his cronies wont kill. My fault, I was stupid enough to believe him. Gone are the days of trusting a person to their word I guess.
LOL ... well ... now I can have fun in corp wars without worrying about ruining implants so all is well that ends well. Kickass and his crew got a pod kill on a newbie frig and will probably be celebrating their famous fleet action victory all night so dont make any loud noises around them.
I, on the other hand have gotten over the dreaded first pod kill hump!!! Coolness ... fitting out a frig to tackle now. With any luck some of Milennium will run across him.
Post Scripts:
1) Stacking of sensor modules really has to go. Somehow I dont think the devs intended a battleship to be able to lock frigs in 2 seconds and a cruiser in less.
2) I was bummed .... no cut scene when killed? Anticlimatic. I need a T-Shirt that says "I got pod killed and they only gave me this lousy email."
3) Instas have to stay or gate campers rule the galaxy.
4) If "Kickass" tells you water is wet, check for yourself. Pirates I dont mind. Bloody liars are worthless pieces of trash.
5) I didnt log ... like some other cwards.
6) I checked the map for pod kills and ship kills before jumping in so dont lay that tired old line on me. Im not *****ing ... just laughing mostly. The only thing that ****es me off is liars and broken game mechanics that are basically the equivalent of sanctioned exploits.
Let the flames roll in !!!!!

So you see I am far from a carebear.  Im more interested in forming gate camp breaking squads now than doing missions and that is likely a positive move for my gameplay time.

Problem 1) you HAVE to have instas for 0.0
Problem 2) you went alone...and in a thorax?
Problem 3) dont go into 0.0 unless your corp has access :D
and yeah...NEVER trust ANYONE when your in a pod with implants - especially after they just killed your ship - you gotta think...what do THEY gain by letting you pass, nothing, so they probably wont do it
good job for not complaining and stuff about it though =)

Perhaps .. but it is rather a shame that pvp in Eve is just gank or be ganked. I wante to see fleet battles, groups of ships slogging it out. Yet every fight I hear about is someone killing someone else like 70 to 1 odds. Not really appealing to a PvPer. You kill some dude in a Rax with a raven and what have you affirmed as your skill as a player? Nothing. You kill a battleship with 10 battleships, same deal.
Perhaps fleet actions are a thing of the past. Sad though ... Eve-Gankdom. Certainly why most players stay in empire though. Sure, 0.0 should be dangerous, but not certain death from some idiot gate camper. Id be suprised if players minded fleet battles but just pure gankage is definitely not adding content to the game and certainly wont keep any customers other than the pirates.

Ah, I remember my first death! I went to TPAR in a Caracal to help DSMA fight FA. I managed to make it up there without instas, MWD or a clue! AND I survived for a good half a week before I got podded by FA.
Although I think my surviving so long had more to do with FA sucking than my being awesome.
Not that I'm not awesome, mind. >_>

Born on 21.10.04 and first time into 0.0
Theres a nice diary of a new player here who made it in. Read it and pick up a few tips. He's living proof that savvy> skill points.
Finally, was it a rax or a newb frig that was killed? Your story contradicts this.
"insta lock" ravens take ages to lock a pod.
But congrats on expanding your EVE horizons, I hope the next trip out there is more productive.
Finally, there are a lot of honorable people out there who will keep their word. Don't go generalising, its childish.

Its all about learning from experience. A raven is not going to take out a thorax before he can hit warp, so fit some warp cores for travelling.
thorax can fit 5, or even better - 2 warp cores + 3 nanofibers for very fast warp entry.
That was not a pvp fight, it was a gank. EVE supports both fully, but don't confuse the two by saying PVP is only ganking, because its not.
And yes, instas are needed.

*sigh* Y'know, you're very annoying? You were sitting there wondering what to do for 30 seconds, and your cloak ran out and you got ganked? Here's an idea next time - WARP BEFORE YOUR CLOAK RUNS OUT! WARP STRAIGHT AWAY SO THEY DON'T NOTICE YOU IN LOCAL!!!
Gank squads are often waiting around for HOURS without people coming through. They're not exactly on the ball. If you'd just warped straight away, by the time they'd noticed you you'd be gone.
Next time, do that instead of hanging around next to a gank-squad like a divvy.

I go to 0.0 without instas sometimes, if you are scared to do it, shouldnt be there.
I fly a rax alone thru 0.0 also, so dont say that he was stupid.
who cares if your corp has access, thats what makes it fun. Plus kickass is Burn Eden so not like he has access either nub.
Also if i kill you and you pay me i will always let your pod go. but most of the time people dont pay so they get pod killed.

Fleet battles are not a thing of the past, we've had about 10 from small to large over the last 3-4 days, including full on mixed fleets with battleship slugfests to large frig vs frig gangs, you just have to be with the right people in the right place at the right time.
There is no escaping from the fact that during a war small hunting parties do a lot of collateral damage roaming around ganking solo or two or three pilots as they find them and such attrition based ganking is a fact of war.
Remember that if that Kickass guy kills ten thoraxes over an evening with similar loot, he won't be overjoyed with the results but he may earn himself 10 mill depending on what you're all carrying. It might not be as profitable as mining or lvl 4 missions but every now and again you catch some nub carrying a bpo or a load of zydrine and then it's a month's income in one kill.

Actually, I keep thinking that without instas, campers might have a chance to stop people at gates and ransom them instead of just blowing them up with ships fit for fast locking and maximum damage.

I manage to survive surprisingly well without WCS... I don't use them.
Instas... I use them when I have them. Should be nerfed though, still easy to survive without them if you know what you are doing.

I think I've fitted WCS maybe 3 or 4 times in my 2 years of Eve and that was only to transport exceptionally valuable loot and I've lived in 0.0 for 18 months+ as well.
There's far too much whining on these forums based on a lack of ability to understand the game and work it to your advantage.
I despair of the general forums these days, veteran players do their best to pass on their views and hints/tips on how to get on but they are ignored in a deluge of whining drivel. That's not a dig at Derisor either, I don't see too much in this post of his that deserves extreme flamage.
The problem at the moment is that even the most patient of the vet's who bother reading and posting in this folder are losing the will to bother because of all the assanine posts whining about one thing or another. As a newbie I was too interested in learning how the game worked and getting on with it. Where on earth did we pick up all these members who just whine so much about everything they can't deal with? Hell I'd have been ashamed to admit the level of incompetence people bring to these boards these days.
For goodness sake just apply your efforts to getting capable in game instead of whining on the forums, if some of the people posting in here put half the effort into excelling in game as they put into the forums then they would be on the top of the ingame people pile!
I am not having a go at Derisor here and perhaps I should rant in a different post but this is getting exceedingly tiresome.

Glad to hear you didnt log, makes for much more exciting gameplay that way.
Shame you got ganked on your first trip out there. Im no experienced 0.0 pilot myself but have managed to make a couple of trips out there without any problems. Sure usually someone tries locking you or even gets one volley in, but a couple of nanofibs and booster/repper should do the trick.

You had no WCS fitted... BAD .. yes, someone say it is not l33t to fit WCS, but if you are not in a combat ready ship, WCS is a must have... and personaly I prefere to be alive than be l33t .. ;)
CCP gived you the tools, learn to use them....
Read the threads about 0.0 living....
My post was a slap for you, to stop crying, get up, and give it a nother try. Every tactic in this game have a "countertactic" or more :) find them... Set up gate camp with your corp... and try to pass your corp m8s.. try different tactics..., make 2 teams , and fight each other.. practice... its realy help a lot...
