Hello all, I'm an extreme nOOb in this game. I'm playing a trial version of Eve and think it is one of the most intriguing games I've ever played. I am definitely thinking of paying for an account once my trial ends, but I was wondering how long do you think Eve will be up and running in the future? I ask because I know the game is already two years old; I'm way late to the party. Anyways, I don't want to spend tons of time learning the game and developing a character if Eve will disappear in six months.

Id be amazed if it isnt at least as popular as currently in 1yrs time.
Assuming the CCP guy for publicity isnt a tard of course :)

At this time, Eve is very healthy and growing as a game. Development seems to get better not worse and there's no indication of decline being even on the horizon.
Only thing that could screw it up is a better game, and they havent made one in 20 years, so what's the chance of that ?

Haven't heard of any in development Rod :D
I've been playing for over 2 years - and I love EVE as much as ever. I will be subscribing and playing daily until the servers go down, or I die. Whichever happens first.

I've been playing for almost a year, and I feel fairly noobish I don't want anyone to turn off the servers before I get some PvP action... which will be a long long time since I'm an extreme carebear

I've seen a few space MMOGs being developed, none of them is even close to EVE as far as I can tell. 
I think EVE will be here for at least 5-6 more years, maybe even longer.

Best online game I have EVER played!
In fact I was wondering if it was possible to sue CCP for EVE's effects on my grades  This game is just... Lush.

I consider Eve to be comming out of beta around now.. Alot of bugs have been cleared up.. changes made that wern't thought out when game started, and the ship balancing isn't looking "too bad".
With all the NWO COSMOS and stuff starting I can see myself subbing at least another 2 years.

UO is still active, though I don't understand why they don't get a newer game, it does look too old now.
It's siminn, and I doubt they would pull the plug. EVE has more than 2 years left though. And once EVE goes, I'm hoping there will be an EVE2 to replace if.

1st of all yes, all the original servers still exist and they're cranking out expansions at a healthy rate.
About UO looking too old, with a 3D client in highest settings its not too bad actually. About the same level as Shadowbane/Everquest 1. Besides the games unique skill system, great community and PvP is (or was) what UO is all about.

Tbh, this game will have a *very* long lifespan... Even if it becomes unprofitable, you'll see the vets and people otherwise addicted buying up extra accounts etc... Will take a lot for this game to fail within the next 10 years.

i think for many of us this game was waited on for over 15 years.......
us crumblys who played elite so much it interfered with our exams and schooling lol....eve is the evolution of elite in my mind in that it can be played solo and you can be a pirate, trader, industriialist etc but not with the advent of multiplayer it gives a whole new playing experience.....
eve is many things to many people and ccp broke even cash wise a long time ago so its not like it is in trouble and with it just now hitting main stream markets i can see eve goin g for a good 3-6 years yet hopefully.....
i just hope with t3 4 and 5 the nerf bat of doom doest make current techs poor relatives to make them look better
