Is it an exploit to place a warp bubble 15km past the gate so its on the insta?
Simply yes or no will be fine.

Your best bet would be to either send an email to [email protected] or file a petition ingame/out-of-game with your question. This will give you a answer from one of the GM team.

how's that going to help? surely you'll still end up at the gate, near enough to jump...?

Nope. If you insta into a warp bubble'd gate, you end up at the edge of the warp bubble, no matter how many WCS you might or might not be packing.

If that'd be an exploit then there wouldn't really be any point in actually having the warp bubbles.

Why would this not be fair game play. Warp Bubbles are designed to stop people from warping and from using insta's. Right now Warp Bubbles are very uncertain right now, there are a lot of bugs with them. But they are in game, so you can use them how you w |

devs have admitted that bubbles do not work correctly in the last chat on omgrawr as I remember. I don't expect any one of em to even boter with that.
The damn bubbles should catch anyone going to the gate, not just "a few" after you dance around the bubble for an hour, do some voodoo magic and sacrifice a virgin exotic dancer (as if there were any after I defiled them all).

Well even tho its a bug it shudnt be an exploit since all it does is having bubbles do what they r meant to...
and yeh, bubbles r redicoulusly buggy, like when u warp at a 100km snipe spot not aligned with the bubble and misteriously end up at the bubble core, or when u jump thru dual med bubble yet end 1k from gate as if the bubbles werne there... not to mention jumping in a system and "spawning" right inside a med bubble yet being perfectly able to cloak AND warp out...
lol the only good use about bubbles imo is they cause huge graphical lag if u jump in them without zooming out the view, and those few seconds of stuttering are often enough to pwn the ship...

I got the impression that the devices are used to stop warping or bring ships out of warp (duh I know clarfiying for myself) Thus someone using one would place it in the "ideal" location to stop enemy vessels, if this is the insta point rather than the gate itself, then that is simply the user being adaptive. Else it would be an exploit to put them anywher else. including a distance from the gate, to catch ships early. _______

Edited by: Trina Tron on 08/06/2005 01:40:49 It is clearly an exploit. Any strategy use in eve at all is an exploit. If someone uses strategy then you should post on eve-o about how something is over powered or itĘs about how its clearly an exploit instead of using counter strategy.

You cannot directly quote GM's or mods on these forums, so I would remove those comments before you get a warning from the mod team.

Kessah, do not quote DEVs...they dont like beeing quoted since they change opinions a lot . But this DEV answer now makes it clear: bubbles behind gate are allowed. Still a little bit low to use this "feature"...it¦s not a bug

You bunch of arrogant trolls ever considered READING THE POST before flaming away?
The issue here is NOT about placing a bubble between 2 gates to stop insta jumpers.
The issue is placing the bubble BEHIND the gate, wer the insta BOOKMARK is - that is 15km FURTHER AWAY from where the dude using instas wud land so if bubbles wernt bugged it wudnt stop anyone but at the actual state they do, misteriously dragging the insta using guy 15km BEHIND the gate.
So yes, it is a bug, but probably not an exploit since it seems to be the best way to have bubble actually do what they are supposed to...

Thankyou kessah. Still altho the devs may not like being quoted its nessary in this case as theres is obvious confusion, and unless the devs want alot of emails about the same thing. kessah has done the the leg work, and we can now leave this topic

BUT Warp bubbles are ****** up, bugged like ****, basically they don't work how they should and you abuse a bug to override another bug in a way that you actually use them with the same effect as they were meant to have exploit-free.
That means something like exploiting bugs to insure a bugged item to work like it should have to is no exploit anymore. Hope it clears things up.
Lay off the *****pipe.
Even with the pipe I seem to have a clearer view on some issues than others

as for not quoting...
iirc , its not allowed to quote a gm, however, devs arent gms, so quoting them should be all ok
after all you would suspect the guys at ccp know what they are talking about as oposed to some gms
