So I was getting real nostalgic reading the old game music thread and thought I might make this thread to see what people thought were the most memorable scenes in their gaming careers.
1.) The Areis Death Scene in FINAL FANTASY 7- To this day I laugh uncontrolably at that point in the game. Sephiroth 4TW!!!!!!
2.) The Vulcan Raven fight in Metal Gear Solid 1- Possibly the best boss fight I have ever had you put that game to extrem and Vulcan will literally push you to the limits of your tactics plus the music is just so freaky and sets the mood cuz you know you have a 400 pound mammoth of muscle chasing u with a fully loaded Vulcan gatling gun.
3.) The Burning of Nifleheim in FF7- This is the first time you get to see Sephiroth in action and see how truely whacked this guy is and why he is the hannibal lecter of video games.
4.)The Escape From Alaska in Freelancer- Made me cry,was so nice to have fire support from the destroyers in previous missions and all of a sudden they blew all three up. But then again having the Osiris uncloak and solo a fleet was pretty damn sweet.

The opening cutscene from Halo.
"All you greenhorns that wanted to see Covenant up close, today's yo' lucky day! Once again, it is our job to finish what the flyboys have started! We are leaving the ship, platoon, and we are engaging the enemy in solid ground! And we will rip their skulls from their spines, and toss 'em away laughin'! Am I right, marines?"
"Sir! Yes, sir!"
Tell me that didn't psyche you up. -----------

Battle of titans part2 from freespace 2. Collosus vs sathanas.
The "could you make any more noise", pull up the rocket launcher, "i guess so" arrival on halo2.
And a total ton of others. From the Sin cgi of ffx and on.

The cut scenes from Warcraft 3 are pretty good. I especially like the one where Thrall is fighting Archimonde or whoever the heck it is. ----------------------------------------------- CANADIAN |

Hmm. Well, my favorites "scenes" from games aren't FMVs, as the technology hadn't been invented yet. 3 Favorites:
1) Chrono Trigger: Scene with Frog breaking open the area leading to Magus' island with the Masamune
2) Chrono Trigger: Frog's monologue at Cyrus' grave.
3) Super Metroid: Final battle against Mother Brain where she wtfpwnz Samus, then in turn gets wtfpwnd by the Metroid that comes to Samus' aid, which then gets wtfpwnd by Mother Brain when she revives, who then gets wtfpwnd by Samus after receiving the hyper beam. Lots of wtfpwning.
Favorite FMVs?
1) Xenosaga: KOS-MOS's "introduction" fight scene. Poor gnosis didn't stand a chance.
2) Grandia II: Mareg's final battle.
3) Ninja Gaiden (X-Box): Just about any scene. Those were amazingly done.
4) Final Fantasy IX: The summoning of Odin.
5) Final Fantasy XIII: Not really an FMV, but who didn't have a heart attack when they saw Odin get defeated?
Now I'm going to have to go play those again.

Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II - Any of the FMV scenes, but especially those when you fell to the darkside.

That was great, hell metal gear solid pwnd, greatest storyline in a game imo.!
Also the dit with the ninja, when there is like a full squad of guards and he just dodges between them and slices them up, was minted

The best cutscene ever is the intro to Freespace 1. Anyone who disagrees has not seen it.
Close second is the intro to Dawn of War.
Worthy of special mention is the comic-strip thing intro to MDK 2. ------------

I don't know if they are the best but worth mention
Tie Fighter - The cut-scene when they present the Tie-Advance to Darth Vader
Starcraft Brood Wars - intro (the idea of being left alone in a Zerg infested Battlefield gives me the creeps)
Call of Duty - The intro, even thought is not very elaborated, is perfect to set the mood for the game
Best intro - Freespace there's no question about it

People are responding with two things, here, FMV sequences in games (video), and cut-scenes (in-game engine). I will also add a third category, which are semi-scripted moments which appear in a game.
There are a whole bunch of games out there which have excellent cinematic moments, some of which with real emotional attachment.
In no particular order: Train ride in original Half-Life (cut-scene) I think this is really worthy of any modern film, a sublime gentle intro giving you the facts. Credits melding onto the screen, a simple man's story to begin with.. class.
Doom III (in-game) When you enter the medical bay for the third or fourth time and read the doctors log about patients becoming psychotic. It's a dimly lit room with a body laying on a slab. You KNOW what is about to happen, but it's still a shock as the lights drop off, and when they come on again the body is no longer there. Doom III does moments like this very well, but unfortunately it also goes overkill on the 'monster jumping out of cupboard' thing too.
Halo 2 (cut-scene) At the end of the first chapter, when Master Chief gives a speech about not missing. Anyone else notice the subliminal reference to a halo jump?
Dune (video) Some of the earliest FMV in a game (short of 3DO titles and things like Phantasmorgia?). Which in itself is pretty mindblowing.
Wing Commader III (video) Luke Skywalker! c'mon, that's worthy of a mention!
I could go on for ages really.

The intro for Fallout 2, wear protective eye-wear at all times! Makes me laugh every time.
And I saw someone mention the intro for Syndicate, that was a real good one too at it's time!

Full Motion Video cutscenes is something I really miss in games nowadays. Westwood's Command & Conquer FMV cutscenes were always awesome. I think my favorite is Nod on in Tiberian Sun when Kane reveals himself to the Brotherhood.
General: "In the name of Kane!"
Crowd: "Kane lives in death!"
General: "In the name of Kane!"
Crowd: "Kane lives in death!"
General: "In the name of KANE!"
*Huge screen behind general comes on with Kane*
Kane: "KANE LIVES!"

First forum post! Yay!
Anyway, anything from Final Fantasy really, i love those games. There are so many scenes from so many games that i love though, i dont know if i could list them all or even remember them off the top of my head, people mentioning MGS made me remember some things i'd forgotten. I wish i could play Xenosaga.
