Anyways, I think it is best to lock this now and have those people listed interviewed.
I think that will be a nice work of historical journalism on what was one of the most intense episodes in the history of the starcluster.

I remember this claim. You wanna know the funny thing? Either he was misinformed, or speaking out of his ass, cause it certainly wasn't true. As for the blue on blue thing, I wasn't around for that particular incident, but it had got way out of proportion way before all of that.
That Nafri incident caused such a snowball effect it wasn't funny. I also remember Halseths famous post that he posted on drugs one day without consulting anyone.
It was hilarious how many fan boys jumped on the band wagon swallowing all the propaganda though. It made my day when they ended up fighting BoB. :) ---

Well, one thing that made a large part of the fun for me in the whole GNW thing that I only cought the end of really (from august '04 on untill we left out of boredom/shifting goals around january '05), was the most beautiful use of propaganda I have ever seen in an online game. Most ppl that know me know I'm a sucker for things that involve innuendo and creative wording , so I'm sure you can appreciate some of the gems that sprung from both sides during the conflict.
I thoroughly enjoyed that, even if sometimes things even got the better of my powers of relativation.
I hold no grudge against any PA members for the heat during that period, and respect was gained more then it was lost during that time.
I'd actually say that if anyone, cochise would be a good person to have write the whole thing down as he seems about as neutral to the whole issue as one could possibly get. _______________________________________________

well its hard for anyone who was there to have an unbiased veiw of things. As you can tell to this day each side believes the other is at fault. IMO both sides were at fault PA has a history of political back room deals and its neighbors and its enemies are unwilling to accept the responsibility for their part in it the true instigators are no longer playing or playing under the same names. Which is justly so if they were and everyone pulled out their chat logs it wouldn't take long for people to realise that both sides were played for fools and as far as Jade goes JC was the fall guy. Rarely do things of such magnitude happen because of one person no matter how charismatic they maybe, there is always someone behind the scenes I have devoted alot of time to figuring it out and my views toward the northern alliances has changed drastically.
We could play the could of would of should of game or point figners at eachother when in reality we should put alot of the blame on ourselves. In the end does it really matter? These events happened going on 18 months ago. Whats left is reciting what happened not WHY!!!!
Thats subjective and should be left up to personal interpretation.Objectively contreversial things did happen the wars did happen corps betrayed eachother, themselves and their allies. There is no one reason to why anyone on either side of GNW fought eachother, but the undeniable truth is in the end we did and many a brave pilot died to fight for whatever drove them weather it be morals, beliefs or just plain fun. If I had do it all over again I would have never bought those skills in H-PA.

I was with TTI during the early EVE game. Here's an insiders account.
With Cult of Ctulhu, there were bugs in war declaration such that it was impossible to undeclare the two wars, or so was the internal TTI story and convos online. Petitions to GMs were made and not much happened other than people be ****ed off that a couple of wars with a tiny corp couldn't be undone. I do remember TTI catching a CoC mining op in northern Lonetrek (Tank CEO and Vegeta names come to mind, Acuna too maybe) and wiping out their small income at the time.
Semiki was the ark mining area of choice for TTI. Then one day CCP said, no more ark exept in 0.0. That very day Ragnar said we go to 0.0, no exceptions. Y-C4K was home. Looked at research and factories in Venal - it was all Xanadu and TTI for the little space available so I am fairly sure these two sizable corps were trail blazers to 0.0 albeit not alone by any means within a day or two.
2-3 months went on. Ragnor, being somewhat enterprising and let's face it rich at the time, employed mercs to deal with some stuff plaguing TTI. Probably one of the first ever to do so on any real scale. Shortly thereafter he was what I'd call EVEs first political casualty and it brought TTI down. TTI public relations hit an all-time low.
And then I quit for 6 months because there was no content. Gave my 40m ISK, 2 Moas, mods and minerals to TTI corp. Came back and made it all again in a month.

Edited by: DB Preacher on 09/06/2005 01:52:41 Heh,
It's quite amusing to be sat here and reading this thread and seeing what is correct and what is wrong.
Basically, dear reader... look at any question in this thread and ignore it as crap.
For reality, look at Kronarty's (ignoring the question about us dealing with evol during the 1st pa war as he called it... we were a 10 man corp at that point and in no position to take either side and till he starts to see the red rage after that), Sun Ra's, Blacklight, Galavet's, Part of lucian's, some of Razor's (he missed the start), all of inkz's, Merdekka for pre-PA/NVA dealings.
Everyone else in this thread is pretty much talking propaganda or poo-poo. Apologies if that offends anyone but hey, I don't give a **** since I am not talking as an RKK member but just a drunken bum.
One thing that gal missed out that really ****ed me off no end was one of the PA dudes (mixmaster or something... same guy that shot the evol scouts) killed one of our indy's. No recompensation was given even though it was promised and the whole thing was swept under the carpet. That was the first time PA crossed us and as gal mentioned, it just got worse from there.
Anyway, my history is already written as Nifel posted but if anyone gives two ****s anymore, you can always ask me on the rkk forums, otherwise go do something interesting with your eve career other than bringing up crappy age-old arguments, thx.

Ok heres the real truth about the GNW.
alt A shot at alt B in this location: Linkage alt B got mad and then alt P got involved. After that alts D,E,F went to alts H & C and the whole nast got blown up. Then alts B, C, D, H, L, U, T went to war with alt A and his alliance. After some good smacking about alts K and Z joined in and declared alt A dead.
Now that this is all settled can everyone please get back in the game and lets have some fun.

I rarely speak on political matters, I did so on a rare occasion during the GNW when it was necessary to present some information from a source that wasn't widely recognised as being attached to one side or the other of the conflict. This included the Oberon sucession from the PA, which swiftly lead to the finalisation of the war. (be that an accord, a passivation, a capilution, boredom or a whole host of other ways of looking at it, all I know is we were not involved at that stage, and I for one was glad) When the history of Oberon is finalised, the GNW will obviously feature, but I have a question that I've wanted to know the answer to for a considerable period of time. Blacklight may be able to answer me.
Originally by: Blacklight I can still quite honestly state that the only two reasons BNC got involved was because of our friendship with RKK first and foremost and secondly because we honestly (not a flame coming, just a perception) felt that the PA of the time looked down their noses at everyone else in the north which rubbed us up the wrong way completely.
I have actually evemailed you teh question after writing it here, as I realised that it could almost harp back to the smack/propaganda of the time. That certainly never would be my intention.

Indeed, there's that name again. I was honestly totally unaware of this incident involving an RKK hauler being destroyed, I was a council member at the time, and rather vocal internally (as many might remember from my rants), as you state it must have been swept under the carpet very swiftly indeed. What few people have been informed is that Mixmaster was ultimately responsible for the original EVOL versus PA war. The one preceding the GNW. There was an event within eve, the one which lead eventually to the cloaking devices being released. Durning this an evolution fleet was cahinign guriestas in the system for quite some time. Mixmaster entered the system and started looting their cans. hey didn't like it much and blew him to pieces. Later that week, an evol expiditionary force was dispatched towards venal, hmm to renew old agreements i believe was how molle termed it at the time. They flew past several pa pilots, who frankly didn't know what they should be doing. Met mixmaster who promptly fired upon HOMO ERECTUS. This was what I would regard as the start of hostilities between the PA and evolution which lead to the first war, and indirectly to the second war, where evolution demonstrated a powerful tour-de-force dominating the PAs military for a sustained period of time (months) after the PA sucessfully fought many of the constituent components of the NCA. During this time as the NCA drifted apart, BOB formed as a completely separate entity, not directly affiliated.
I miss those times also. As Oberon we tended to present ourselves well during the war, losing many ships, but inflicting losses at the same time. There is one specific engagement I will always look back upon with pride. I remember chatting to molle during our departure, and he certainly remembered mixmasters original influence.
and to quote blacklight '...To be honest, as it's so long ago and we all learned so much from it...'

I missed part of the story of the early Cult/Venal which was the joining of Falhofnir to the Cult. He is amazing and saved the corp at least a squillion times, while killing a million billion guys. He is also not Samuel L. Jackson, but is at least 2 times as cool.

Destable and I talk a lot anyway and have discussed the whole BoB and CoD/NSA interaction up north to the nth degree, I always find his perspective on things very perceptive and interesting.
He makes some very good points about how BoB handled CoD/NSA/FU up north, although I'm not sure we'd have changed anything with hindsight and I think in us killing off NSA we did you a favour

man i had a decent post and my comp ate it.
i rember when rkk nightly camped ec and got raped by epa si fe when we bust our ass to have enough rares to build balckbirds for ourselves
to be in a great corp i feel you need a great ceo one who can fine the best choice when it looks like a lose lose situation
yes mistakes were made by both sides but I bet more often it was more a matter of picking the lesser of 2 evils
I feel rkk had little choice in starting the gnw if we wished to continue as a corp. and i advocated for war even if it ment our destruction(I also advocated join curse once and hooking up with evol months before not always would i have chosen the path rkk made...the joys of not having all the wieght on your shoulders) as opposed to feeling like some one else's kicking dog I did get the fun job of negoitating with the pa when many others in charge could no long stomach dealing with it(rarely becouse it didnt take me long to hate doing it also)
Our ceo got us support wich we need to live though it. some choice's made cost us friends(we did gain new ones) some times there were tough calls to be made and I feel our CEO got us though it the best possible way not always to our likeing or even his
to say that jf/jade caused the war or was a major influance id say is not true...first of jf supported rkk's chocie but i am pretty sure it was a conflict of there intrest to do so and i was irc/ts when other friendly to rkk corps would express unhappyness at jf's latest posts/drama
To win at even or even come out on top is not easy in the dog eat dog world of 0.0 only the best can hang few rise up It take good leadership just to surive let alone grow. I was one of the blue vs blue loses at the begining and I was in total shock that the pa had the nerve to do it(iwas reninburse for the deal but it didnt really make me much happier)
Some times things just dont go as planned some time they go better some times not

Well Mojo, Its a shame that you ended up disliking dealing with the PA. I certainly hope that was after I went on the break. Our brief talks were fun, without any BS and I truthfully believe they postponed the GNW by at least a month.
As for the "Blue on Blue" incident we always hear about, heres what the deal was; I was logging off when I hear that (via automated evemail notification) the conquerable station that Oberon was controling in D7 Tribute was under attack. Oberon had taken it the day before from some CA corp who had taken it from RKK the day before that one. The same CA (maybe rougue) corp had attacked it twice earlier in the day and I assumed it was them again. So, I said "saddle-up" to the Oberon guys online and gave them the "OK" to go protect that station. I then continued to log off.
[insert wavy flashback sequence] The day before, Galavet and I had a convo and agreed that RKK should be controlling the station in D7 as Oberon didnt want anything to do with these disputed stations. However, we did not discuss any set time for them to take the station.
Long story short, Oberon fleet heads into D7 and destroys the battleships of Mojo and another RKK pilot who were acting under Galavets OK to re-take the station.
Whos F-up was that? It was mine. And I took full responsibility. Mojos and this other guys (sorry forgot his name) BS were insured but I wanted to pay for the mods and asked them to both name their price. In the end I ended up dishing 90mil out of my own pocket between the two.
You seemed happy with the re-embursement at the time, Mojo. I'm Sorry if my sincere appology and the price you named wasnt enough.
So anywho, that is the story behind the HORRIFIC AND DASTARDLY PA destroying RKK battleships incident of D7-Tribute.
Interesting how propaganda can change this kind of sleep inducing incident into a "cry for freedom and unrelenting war against the greedy oppressors and evil plutocrats of the PA mineral cartel!"

Halseth, not wanting to dredge up the past anymore than you I will only say this and let this topic die. The loss of those two Battleships was only one of many many things that lead to the GNW. No one issue is really the focal point, but many issues combined.
Let us all forget about the GNW until round 2 fires up.

I'll just have one thing to add and that's that NAST was broken by FU/Phonix in EC-P8R. And don't even try to argue that.
Up to that point both CoD and FU had promised support to PA vs. the invaders but during a PA/CEI camp of the Torrinos gate in EC we suddenly had a FU fleet led by ph0nix come in and open fire upon all of us. Right out of the blue. The scorpion the PA lost there was another blue on blue incident and made the whole war alot bigger.
