This is more of a question then a statement really.
We believe that the role of the freighter will be to haul lots from station to station, that they won't be able to dock (load/unload) at a POS, that they're slow... yada yada...
BUT - here is the question...
Can they Jettison? 
If they can - then they could supply POS just fine, but not get the finished goods and haul them... for that you would need the outpost and the haulers so that you can load it up. 
It could also sit at a safespot and pop frigs or shuttles out of it's belly for downed pilot (in fleet) battle to come and board (get back in action)... 
The main question is - CAN YOU JETTISON FROM ONE OF THESE BABYS... 
All day long speculation is Great... but Oeveur or Dev > all day long speculation. 
If this has already been explicetly stated somewhere, please let Weirda know...

Weirda.. I'm suprised you didn't figure this part out already.
You load up a freighter with what you need to take to the POS and then blow it up and loot it outside =P

You know the one thing that you REALLY wanted to bring would be destroyed... 
To bring this idea further - you could always pop an industrial out of you belly, then a bunch of crap... hop in the industrial and load it into the pos... But it would have to be not-assembled in you belly. Dunno if there space for that... definatley space for frigs though (hell - can almost fit a vigil in an industrial iwrc)....

I'd imagine they will be (re-?)using code much like that for the dronebay - can't put items in/out unless docked in a station, so I very much doubt jettisoning will be an option.

how about instead of jetisoning, they have some sort of mechanism for in space trading to industrials. so the indy acts as a small cargo runner that can load up and unload the freighter. Only an indy could take anything or give anything to a freighter, and only if they were both piloted.
this way they could even make them useful for mining ops, without being overpowered for hauling.. have the mining gang jetcanning ore.. the regular indy collecting from the cans, and the freighter which can take the ore from the indy. kinda like the processers from homeworld .
