You can decide for yourself if the combined total contributes to the New Eden population, we certainly think it does. Until I read this I thought next weekend was assured to pass the old 65k record. Looks like DUST bunnies won't count? It might not be needed. I think we will have a higher than usual login anyway when everybody wants to check out the news. However, there will probably be an even bigger interest from the Dust crowd and many of themare EVE players so that will split their attention somewhat but that will probably just mean more multiboxing than usual ... |

Looks like our resident "18 year old armchair virgin expert" says EVE is dying. Guess it must be. |

Eve won't die until all the alt poasting accounts get cancelled due to a lack of intrest in Eve dying.
I predict that won't happen.

It would be very interesting if CCP gave the numbers of how many unique IP addresses were online 24 months ago, 12 months ago, and today.
Yeah, the numbers the past couple weeks may show a spike of accounts online, but I am far more interested in knowing if the subscription base is broadening, or if Eve is seeing less people with more alt accounts. |

Still, probably better to be an 18 year old armchair virgin expert than an 18 year old virgin armchair expert I guess.
Besides, you can extrapolate anything you want from a graph showing annual sub levels and player activity, right, right?

Older players make more alt accounts, some players unsubscribe, and so a flat line tells us the game isn't attracting new players, or older players are leaving. EVE is outdated technologically, and there has been little attempt from CCP to seriously modernise its underlying technology. We still have bounding-sphere collision physics from 1995, and graphics from 2007. DUST is on the horizon, but it is supposed to rescue CCP rather than to rescue EVE.
This would make sense, if not for the fact that the market for this type of MMO is shrinking. If you're not a F2P MMO based on the LoL/WoT model, then odds are you've been losing subs at a fairly rapid rate, enough that MMOs are going F2P to try to scrape some cash up. |

another major reason would most likely be corp thieves, and other gutless, dickless, losers like you :) |
