It's just funny how people completely ignore the fact that the collision-checks have to be done on the server and that per-triangle-collision-checks for every model in a fleet of potentially HUNDREDS simply isn't going to work.

Again, that appears to be consistent growth, barring the glitch when the Chinese server shut down for a time, and as soon as it re-opened the numbers went back up. Obviously no-one but CCP has access to the data regarding unique accounts so it is completely impossible to gauge the number of players with multiple accounts, but the numbers still show a steady growth in online player numbers and active accounts, and thus a steady increase in income for CCP.

We are tracking EVE and DUST players with separate PCUs. You can decide for yourself if the combined total contributes to the New Eden population, we certainly think it does.

Until I read this I thought next weekend was assured to pass the old 65k record.

Looks like our resident "18 year old armchair virgin expert" says EVE is dying. Guess it must be.

A lack of growth (the graphs are basically flat) is evidence of decline when you consider the market is growing. Older players make more alt accounts, some players unsubscribe, and so a flat line tells us the game isn't attracting new players, or older players are leaving. EVE is outdated technologically, and there has been little attempt from CCP to seriously modernise its underlying technology. We still have bounding-sphere collision physics from 1995, and graphics from 2007. DUST is on the horizon, but it is supposed to rescue CCP rather than to rescue EVE.

This would make sense, if not for the fact that the market for this type of MMO is shrinking. If you're not a F2P MMO based on the LoL/WoT model, then odds are you've been losing subs at a fairly rapid rate, enough that MMOs are going F2P to try to scrape some cash up.
