Edited by: Humera on 15/06/2005 10:38:27 Sorry about your loss.
I will only ever play with people that I can reach out and "touch" if something does happen. If I do however join a corp I would simply never want access to anything. The problem herein lies in premeditated deceit festering in good old fashioned greed. The old adage rings true: "I envy you, give me what is yours. Oh, I can't have it, then I'll steal it. What? I can't steal it? Then I'll deceive and cajole you. Still no luck getting your stuff. Okelydokely, now where did I put that darn gun". Funny and sad how this game seems to bring out the worst in manor woman (respect to the ladies playing the game too). One can argue the psychological, ethical, moral and philosophical intricacies of the person infront of the screen 'til one is blue in the face but the questions still remain. WTF kind of a person are you in RL to commit these acts? Do you shoulder a role to heavy in life so that you must instead prey on innocents and alike? Do you find this behaviour acceptable in RL?
Now you might just wonder if I am just a little too serious about the issue. Well actually yes. Relationships are built on trust and people that I can't look in the eye in RL I simply can't trust. This whole cyberfriends thing has been whacked up side the head a few too many times. People who can i.e. party and do things together will also play better together and it is my understanding that there are quite a few corps who do this quite well. Humera

Mate in real life espionage exists, it seems only fair it should in a game world too, although loss from faulty game mechanics takes any and all glory away from the ursurpers imo. Other than syaing what they did sucks total ass im more depressed in the manner in which it was done, however there are more than one way to skin a cat, and now you have a healthy dose of revenge to dish out im sure in some unsettling way this will actually add yet another side to the gameworld you have developed your charachter in. Lets hope it doesnt deter you from further play and experiment, thnks for the tips, ill KOS either of them if theyre around me.
BTW if your interested in a real honest and decent corp with decent people check out Zitek. www.zitek-corp.com, theyre also members of Stain Alliance.
Good luck with the revenge

Having once flown with Zavier (when he was in Psych0sis, who he bailed from, turned 180 degrees and joined Armoured Assassins), I stopped considering hmi trustworthy when he decided to try being a pirate. One day he left -ASS-, now I can't help but to wonder if he was kicked for being incompetent or for trying to corpthief them.
That being said, this is not going to sound nice, but his employment history is somewhat blemished, he shouldn't have been accepted into your corp first time around.
That, of course, does not detract frmo the situation at hand. My sympathies to you and your corp for the loss, trust is a rare thing to be able to maintain in the game. Like somenoe else mentioned, the forced change of password might be something petitionable, as I doubt it's intended to work like that.
Well, Zavier, and his former corpmate in -ASS- "SaraJ" are hopefully branded as pond scum by now, if they weren't already.
I hope you'll recover in time, Panzer.

I am sorry to hear of your loss.
However, there is no call for real life retaliation for in game actions. This is a game with winners and losers. Theft and piracy are part of the game. We may not like the lack of in game mechanics to address this sort of behaviour (personally, if it is possible to prove to CCP who did it, then Concord should take an interest as far as I am concerned - negative standings and destruction should follow), but let us not act in an insane manner. In game and out of game are not the same.
In game, we kill "people" (or, if you are me, then other people kill you). If anyone is confused about whether this is acceptable behaviour, then they are playing the wrong game. It is part of the game. Not RL.
Speaking for myself, I play neutral/lawful characters on the whole; but if I were to choose to play evil, that would not reflect on my RL persona. It is a game.
Nough said.

Originally by: Riddari You said that there was a bug there, if you are fast enough to click you can gain access to control panel.
This sounds like petition worthy AND refund worthy due to faulty game mechanics allowing others to unlawfully gain access to your controls.
Sorry for your loss also :(.
Agree with Riddari though. Try petitioning for this. I've pulled off this maneuver myself after the password I set didn't want to let me back in again and I'd read in the forums that this was possible. It was surprisingly easy to pull off :/.

My question is if the corp your both in knows about this did they boot him? let him stay? offer to replace losses since it was used for CORP BENEFIT?
If the corp has any respect for its self they should replace the lost structures with same kind and also stock it with a weeks fuel. Some people may say it was a member of the corp that did it and why should the corp pay. Here are some reason.
A) wanting to show that the corp looks out for its members when stuff like this happens.
B)Show that they are also honorable, what would have happened if he had done it to one of their alliance friends? I am sure they would have replaced it and not complained cause the Alliance prob would have said that each CORP IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR MEMBERS ACTIONS, if not replaced I am sure the Alliance would have broken off with said corp then stared a war.
IMHO I think the corp should be grand enough to help you out since you devoted so much to helping the OTHER MEMBERS out.

Actually if zavier had the password he could have checked that "allow corpmembers" box so Sara J could enter the forcefield.
If that's the case it would just be 'corp theft', corp theft made possible by the utter inability to secure ANYTHING on a POS. Something CCP needs to look into ASAP btw.

he didnt, we had set up a new PW after we suspected them (when the POS was still there tho) and 4 ppl only knew it (i didnt even know it lol, cuz i was to bed when my friends put the pw and unchecked corp member box - was a good initiative)
but yeah you cant secure anything on a POS that sucks... What i REALLY hate is how hangars are organized... all the same, you cant customize anything. great. but oh well idont mind, i have no more hangars lol.

Did you ask if your corp will help replace the lost mod's? and add 1 weeks fuel to get you back on your feet?

Look forward to seeing you in battle soon.

Well that should tell you that its a good corp if they are willing to help replace loss's due to a fellow member being dishonest.
What I would do is this, you know who to trust set the pos up again, but limit to personal and then have a friend set up with the few you completly trust that will allow to have yoru POS set up personal but allow friends to enter field.
Have large cans set up to allow them to deposit minerals which you will refine on a weekly basis, take your 10% then put refined minerals in a passcoded huge container that you and the corps leader has access to this way you can controll what is taken and stored in the POS area.
If the corps leader trust you totally with that systems mining operations you could then just set up a storage module which to move minerals to and just load a HUGE CAN when the corp needs minerals.
That way you get your losses restored, the corps does'nt lose a good member that is actually working in the corps favor, and you get some faith back in the EVE community specifically your current corp.

Edited by: Skelator on 16/06/2005 04:08:16 Edited by: Skelator on 16/06/2005 04:05:44 there's an issue, at the POS, that makes it possible to access the control tower "manage" pannel, even if you dont have the password of the forcefield as long as you have starbase role; Just be fast enough to click on the tower before you're thrown away by the forcefield, check the box, apply and any newb with starbase role can steal your POS, basicly.
If there is indeed a Bug then this is a Exploit and should immediately be petitioned as one with all Offenders banned.
If you did not have corp set to use it and they did the Shield bounce Trick Petition it under the Exploit section you will get all your stuff back.
CCP is very fair about replacing things lost to exploits and bugs in their code.

First Panzer hope your exams went OK.
As the others said, if they got access because of the known bug, then just do a petition. Their accounts will be kicked, you will get back the POS and then back again to profitable mining. And Trust No One. Exept people you can "touch".

I feel for you man. I have seen things similar (though not as bad)
The bright side is that they will have to make new chars to get into any corp ever again because I dont think anyone in their right mind is going to invite them to corp now.
The thread highlights several things.
1) Security systems and hangar management on POS is laugable. Permissions need to be more fine grained and customizable. I get annyoned that I cant refit at the POS but I havent asked for permission because I understand the need to restrict that.
2) You really must do background checks on players.
3) -V- alliance are total idiots and cowards. If they had anything like honor or ethics, they would have declined to take down the PS and shot the traitors and podded them instantly. If someone gave me a BM to an enemy station that they worked over like that, I would instantly pod them and help to get the station back online. Millennium has honor and we will EARN our victories thank you.
If they sploited they should be banned. <-- note the period
There are a lot of total jerks in the world man. Dont let them grief you out of the game. Im sure there will be lots of people that will help you get back on your feet. --------- The words "Exciting" and "Safe" are mutually exclusive; pick one. |

4) there needs to be a corp wide log that tells you EXCACTLY who gave what permissions to whom and when. A corp log of all transactions on permissions as well as hangar transactions (this one only for 1 week). --------- The words "Exciting" and "Safe" are mutually exclusive; pick one. |
