I've been trying to move minerals around tonight and everytime I go to the destination that is buying that mineral at a certain price, when I get there, they never buy it at that price. What's going on? I can't transport like this - too much wasted time.
Is this a known bug?

This is an issue with the Market refreshing. You see the old price from a distance, but it hasn't been updated for a while. When you arrive at the station, you'll see the real, active price. For most items where there's not such a constant demand for the goods or where they are slower to move (ie modules, etc.) it's not such a problem. Minerals have such a constant turn-over that you'll see this kind of supply/demand fluctuation a lot.
Perhaps the best way to deal with it - imho, others may have better suggestions - is to sell from the station of your choice, setting the price you would be comfortable to accept. Saves you from flying all over hither and yon and someone who wants the minerals will come get them, gladly, for the right price.
You might also want to consider setting up a private brokerage of your own where you commission in advance for so many minerals at a set price for certain corps.

That's all fine and dandy for minerals. But really is annoying for Trade Items. Jumping for an hour to get the items and to another station to sell it only to find out that the item you were going to sell suddenly has a demand under the price I bought it for wasn't a lot of fun to find out...

It's known as competition, supply and demand -- you are just one of many people selling the goods on the market. When the others sell their goods, both demand for those goods and their price goes down. If the others are closer to the destination point than you are, they'll sell faster and bring price down before you get there.
Perhaps a workaround could be, once you get to the station where you intended to sell your goods just dump them (or part of them) in your hangar. Then next time you should be able to sell them remotely, at the current price? (haven't actually tried that so it's just a guess)

I'm afraid that you are just too late. Someone got there before you.
I've been stung this way as well. So, if I'm making a long distance run I will try to be sure there is a large demand at the destination.

If I was too late with my sale, I'd have no problem with it. That's part of Eve, first come, first served :)
Trouble is that the market still told me that there was demand for my item while I was in that system at that Station.

It is quite an issue. One which qualifies as a bug, I think. Two nights ago I jumped for 30 minutes to sell some minerals, and upon reaching the station, the order had disappeared and was replaced by a much lower offer. I was alone in the system, and I had a friend check the market for me when I was just 1 jump to the station to check if the order was still there. An hour later the ghost order still appeared in the demand table for the region.
This has caused me to waste several hours jumping to phantom buy orders accross many regions - I've half a mind to just settle for less just so I don't have to deal with the deceptive market :(
Those NPC traders may be causing some of the grief.. but I don't know how much of an impact they have on the market (if they actually buy/trade things NPCly). Most corporations which would need large amounts of minerals now have their own miners, so it is difficult to sell ore at good prices to PCs.
Perhaps a more up-to-date refresh of one commodity report at a time could be an answer... perhaps there could be a small fee for a market agent or maybe a market analyst skill which could finally give you accurate market reports! |

What i have found is sometimes the market lists a station but if ya check around that solarstem you will find that quanity and the price shown. I have found it several times at another station in the same solarsystem with a totaly different name/roman numeral than listed in the market.

I'm afraid this isn't a refresh issue Pann and to you others who are quick to point out that it is a factor of compettition - you are all wet also. It is a BUG.
How do I know it is a bug? I know it is a bug because many times I cannot see my OWN sell and buy orders placed in the market display when I'm not at the station and I know they are still in place. The advanced market display is quirky at best and seems to often display incorrect information. Occassionally even nonsensical values.

Yes, market has problems these days. Sometimes in the advanced market it tells you the closest deal is 4 jumps away and you can see on the map of the same advanced market that there's nothing 4 jumps away, or the price is not what it says, or other discrepencies. So the market tool is not consistent with itself even. Why is the market not refreshed? I have a feeling the game is very static, and not much is really dynamic, is the market refreshed once a day during downtime?

The buy/sell orders seem to be static and refresh after 24hrs or Downtime. Whichever is sooner. Additionally my list of bugs I posted for budding traders seems relevent, my list is here:

Hello.
What I noticed:
Regardless of what you select to sort the systems after on the region/constellation market panel, the STATIONS shown on the panel are ALWAYS the ones with the highest demand.
So if you look after BEST PRICE, you will have to check for the right station insystem again - on sytem range, of course.
Secondly, when you are looking for supply, the advanced market tell you that the BEST SUPPLY PRICE is the HIGHEST, which clearly is wron, the best supply price should be the LOWEST - hey, it's buy low, sell high, right? Even I got THAT ;). Again stations named on the region/constellation panel are the ones with the highest number of items only.
I hope that was somehow understandable.
And yes, sometimes you are just too slow on long distance routes, so I would think it would be nice to be able to somehow call dips on a business offer from a distance. On the other hand trade RUNS are funny. ;)

Heck, I love the thrill sometimes on a trade run. Especially when I constantly see the same person in the system I'm jumping into. Even more so when that person has a cargo-capable ship.
Always like to 'pretend' that he is hauling what I am hauling to the same spot, so I try to beat him to it.
Those cold gas burners come in handy then :)

It seems, for trade goods anyway, that when there are two stations in the same system with the same name (ie. two Wiyrkomi Factories or whatever) but at different planets then the supply/demand will be listed for the wrong one of those two stations in the market list for constellation or region view. The listing is correct if you check system view.

I noticed this too.
The demand is still there, you just have to jump to another station (or three) in the system. The amount identified in the markets as well as the price are displayed correctly it is just the Station listing that is wrong.
But, remember to heed the advice given above. If you are going to jump 20+ systems to meet demand somewhere, likely I'll have already been there first =0
