most demand centers around the plentiful, but bulk y harvesters. They are much cheaper and much easier to find, as well as being only marginally less effective than elites.

Thnx anyway. I sell my own - i was after an average market price.
And for whats it worth - Elites are much better than harvesters, and here's why:
Imicus frigate (423m3 cargo with 2 basic expanders + 250m3 drone bay) loaded with 2 Miner Is mines 80m3 per minute.
Add 5 basic mining drones: 130m3 per minute Add 2 harvester drones: 140m3 per minute Add 5 elite mining drones: 230m3 per minute
those figure are base values without skills factored at all.
5 Imicus' with 5 elite drones each can fill an iteron MK II in 3 minutes.
It's got to the point now, where we are having to train up Indi L5 to get Iteron MK5s, simply because we mine too damned fast.
So im sorry - but IMO, Elites are far better than harvesters. You factor those numbers up with bigger ships and you are laughing.

if you got a small boat Elite drones is nice, but when you use a thorax for mining you can take 8 harvestors bought for nothing and still have 1200 drone bay left for wasps :)

The elites are nice if you have a small drone bay, but if you have the room for them the harvesters have slightly better stats I think. And anyone who has a small enough drone bay to need elites instead of harvesters probably isnt a dedicated mining boat anyway, so probably doesnt mine often enough to justify the cost of the elites.

What are you nuts? Your using an imicus with 2 Miner I's and think elite miners are worth the extra cash over harvesters?
For the money, you are better off getting yourself a Thorax and haversters rather than paying an arm and a leg for elite's.

Did i say that KillZone?
Im sorry, i though i said i said im selling not buying.
The Elites cost me the grand total of ZERO.
i post a simple question, and then follow it up with the reasons why i think they are better, so how about people lay off the negativity biscuits for a while...

Askari. By your numbers (i'm guessing) Elite drones mine the same volume as harvester's?
Harvester 30m3/min x 2 = 60 Elite 30m3/min x 5 = 150
Is this correct? Anyone have the specs on these puppies? If they take half the room and yeild the same amount I would figure they would be the better of the two types.
No body ever did show a price iether. Any quotes?

nono they both mine 30/cycle.
So yes on paper Elites are better but the point is if your a dedicated miner 800 dronebay should be simple to get (Thorax) and since Harvestors cost 35k each and Elites cost however hundred thousands they are it's better to get Harvestors because it's saving you a lot of money. If for example you have a smaller cargobay then Elites are better but if your mining with a frigate and not a Thorax then you arn't a dedicated enough miner to afford Elites. Say Elites Sell at 750k each that's 6M which is almost enough for a Thorax. I'd rather spend another 1M for a Thorax with 5 Miner 1s then 6M for 8 Elite drones and 2 Miner 1s Then buying 8 harvesters is trivial. 300k max. So hopefully you understand what I'm saying. Elites are better but if you want bang for buck go with harvesters.

everything you say there is true, Elite's are expensive, but if you want bang for buck, you are better off getting Advanced Drones.
Advanced drones mine 25m3 per minute, but only have a mass of 50m3. so you can still fit twice as many as harvesters.
I honestly don't get why everyone is so obsessed with harvesters??? I dont really care, I'll just stock pile the advanced and elite's and sell harvesters instead... ---------------- ~= Askari =~

OK, I'm new here but I think (Unless I'm missing something) the elites sound better because:
Assuming you can fill your drone bay with as many drones as posible...
If I can carry twice the amount of elite drones as harvesters, I will mine twice as fast...
This means, to me, I can mine twice as much ore in the same time therefore making twice as much money in relation to time spent in game...
So even if Elite's cost 10 times as much, the extra mining available through saved time would soon pay for the added expence.

No - because you can only control 10 drones max atm...so if you can actually fit 10 harvesters into your drone bay then it is better to use them as they are a lot cheaper than elites...
However if you have limited drone space then the elites could make sense...
I am flying an Omen (Amarr Cruiser) atm equipped with 4 Xcel mining lasers but only 3 harvesters as they take 100m3 volume and my drone bay only has 300m3 volume.
I would definitely buy 'elite' mining drones as I would be able to carry 6 total and therefore double my drone mining capacity....
With an 'elite' drone producing approx 3/4 of the ore of an Xcel mining laser - having 6 'elite' drones would be equivalent of strapping another 4.5 Xcels to the side of my Omen giving me a rough equivalent mining power of 8.5 xcels lasers.
The Amarr arbitrator cruiser on the other hand can carry 10 harvesters which are cheaper than the elites (equivalent 7.5 xcels). It also has two mining laser slots. So can mine as if with the equivalent (roughly) of 9.5 Xcel mining lasers.
Ofc that mean training drones and drones interfacing up to level 5 (in order to control 10 harvesters).
Therefore I will stick with my Omen until I get my drone skills maxed out and can control all 10.
If anyone has any elite drones to sell I am interested...

First to answer your question they go for 250-750 depending on amount, distance, and desperation of buyer.
Second, the reason I greatly prefer elites or advanced to harvesters in any and all situations is:
In a frigate, you can fit more advanced or elite than harvesters, so can mine more ore.
In a my cruiser (im using a thorax) I can fit my 8 elites, and 6 wasps. I equip 5 mining lasers, and go mining in .3 - .5 solo When the pirates show up I scoop some of my miners, and launch wasps...my mining lasers never shut off, i get ore, bounties, and med level loot. Then I go grab my bestower and haul the pile home after a couple hours.
The only time I can imagine my having wanted harvesters, would be if a rich friend gave me 4 million as a newb, so i bought a vexor and some harvesters to mine plagio and stuff with no pirates...i dont need the drone space for combat drones that way, and i can get more drones for my money than elite, and they are easier to find than advanced.

That story with ur thorax mush have been a joke Bashar ;)
Really, those ships have 2000! drone space. Fitting ten Harvesters (the max you can control at once) still leaves u 1000m3 for combat drones. Why would you go for Elites in that case?
Elites would only be a popular commodity, if you could control abt 20-40 drones ;) miners would use thoraxes fitted with elite drones then. As it is now, you have to learn a good month to get drones and interfacing up to lvl5 both, so u can use 10. Most probably u'll settle with 8 or something around that. But even that takes good 2 weeks.
I'm sure, elites have their place somewhere, but as of now, their stats do not justify their price. Why would i buy any if i can get drones with the same stats for 1/10 of the price or even less?
CCP should boost elites a little. An elite could do 35 ore / cycle for example. Now that would justify the price.

Ok, a few things seem to have been left out of this discusion.
what seems to have ben missed is that elites are aslo 50m/s faster than harv's. Now i know that doesn sounds like alot, but if you like me and you tend to mine in one spot for a couple of hours then haul your ore it can make a big difference.
Because with drones range to the roid you are mining is a big factor. Lasers have no prolems with this obviously and you will alwasy get the same amount per minute. Drones on the other hand.....
Personally, i like to sit myself with range of as many of my chosen roid as i can, then just mine them all dry, that quite often means i have roids at the 12k mark, now dornes moving at only 200m/s that can take a fair while to cover, at add extra 50m/s and over a period of a couple of hours... do the math. IMHO Lasers will always rule over drones. Never sacrifice a turret mount for more drone space.
Now in the case of the Thorax miner how can handle 9 drones at once elites are a very good idea. 9 elite drones is only gonna take up 450 drones space leaving 1550 left, thats 6 heavies vs 4 heavies if he was to take 9 harv's with him. If you solo mining in a 0.1-0.2 system, more is always better. And lets face it, if you can afford a Thorax fitted with 5 cu vapors you can afford to splash out for quality drones
When i mine solo in those systems i have to leave my elites at base, Rupture only has 600m3 drone space, so i use 2 ogres and 2 warriors as defense, I can take out anything that bothers me with no problems at all. With 6 heavies in the drone bay you could afford to lose 1 or two and still keep mining.
But when i mine with the corp and we have protection, You just can't go past 8 elites and 4 cu vapors.... Just wish i had astrogeology *grumble*

Nice to see your insulting me when you don't even know what I was talking about csebal
I very clearly stated the reason I would go with elites was the size. Having 1000m3 space left for combat drones = 4 wasps
Having 1500m3 left for combat drones = 6 wasps
My current skill being 8 drones, means i can carry 8 elites and 6 wasps and 2 hobgoblins, and solo mine in .3 without any guns
that is why my story was only funny to you.
And on another topic, i presonally find a cluster of several rocks i want to mine and park 600m above them...i have my miners mine those, while my lasers mine any other rocks that are within 12500m of my ship. When the outlying ones are gone, then they help the drones. Becuase i am so close to the rock, my drones dont have to fly anywhere to deliver ore, and I can scoop them instantly. Using drones at any distance fomr the roid they are mining is to be avoided like the plauge ;)

Interesting.
Id have a Thorax fit 6 Elites and have rest of cargo full with battle drones when pirates come in i scoop miners and deploy battle drones. But while using the miners i might aswell use my full potential 10 and let 4 battle drones floating round me or near to where the pirates spawn for quicker killing. BUT if i was mining in 1.0 sec then id use 10 harvies and 5 cu's
BTW any1 know the ore/cycle the Cu Vapours pull in?
