faction ammo will be available after next patch - probably only as loot drops though.
afaik there is still no word on tech2 ammo.

I don't have a problem with faction amo doing more damage, as long as the laser crystals degrade. You'll go through faction amo in a HURRY.

hmmm....u only ever need to loot 1 set of "lazer crystals" comparied to crap loads of missles/charges.

maybee you might be able to get a bpc of some npc rats ast a 15000 run that would be one way to make it worth while maybee even a bpo now that will be worth a lot

Faction ammo seems to always drop in stacks of 1000. Therefore it would make sense if crystals were limited to 1000 uses, after which they'd disintegrate or something. Of course there would still be the problem that with 1000 hybrid charges, you can load most, if not all your guns, whereas 1 crystal = 1 gun, but I can't see how to go around this.

They could make the crystals last for about 2000 shots since you can split them up between your guns like with shells or charges.

Making crystals degrade doesn't add anything of value. They could make other faction ammo more readily available though.

The faction crystals should degrade. It shouldn't be equal to the amount of a faction ammo set since projectiles have a lot lower rofs compared to lasers.
