Canada would be good, because most of Europe does not hate them like they hate us...
Plus, I go to Canada every weekend to visit my GF, so I'm cool with that!
I vote for Toronto, hold the fanfest at the observation deck of the CN tower!

Quote: Holding it in Montreal would work well because both french and english are spoken there. Add to all this the weaker canadian dollar and the possibility of a low cost high quality venue and it should look like a very attractive place to host a multinational fanfest
Well, Quebec is pretty hostile to us Americans... (they see a US license plate, they deem it as thier duty to steal, smash or burn your car, etc...)
Not bashing Wrangler, just speaking from personal experience, not just mine, but many family & co-workers as well... I'd rather see it in Toronto... ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |

Quote: Dunno where this happened to you but Montreal is not like the rest of Quebec.. Montreal is a Canadian city
Uhmmmm...
Happend in Montreal, on more than one occasion.
The ppl up there seem great for the most part, and it's a nice city.
But, use a rental car, lol... ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |

Quote: Besides, if I saw your license plate I'd also consider it my duty to steal, smash or burn your car..
Just plz don't smash & burn my 1966 Chevelle SS396 that I've been painstakingly restoring for 6 years.
I'll make sure to put the Bhaal-EVE Online license plate on the manure wagon instead, have at it dude

Quote: Yeah the new Fallsview casino is fantastic very vegas like.. however the problem with niagara is flying in internationally would be dificult. The closest major internatinal airport would be Toronto.. or maybe buffalo but i dont think you can fly in from iceland to buffalo :)
Niagara Falls International Airport
Yeah, would be better to fly to Toronto, hold it in CN tower like I said initially :) ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |

Quote: I believe that airport is in the US which is what concerns some people. Flying directly into Canada is what we're after.
Yes, yes it is as I live about 10 miles from it...
True, flying into US, then crossing the border to Canada would suck...
Would Montreal be that much cheaper than Toronto? ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |

Quote: Not much cheaper but much more acomodating given Montreal has a casino and Toronto does not. Plus two languages makes it a bit moer atractive to people from France or anywhere else french is spoken.
I went to Quebec with a girl from France, she was laughing at how they butchered her language... ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |

Quote: I pitched the "BBQ in my backyard" idea mostly because I've been living in my house for a few years and realized I haven't had a housewarming party. And I figure a few dozen drunk strangers from other countries would be able to kick it up to the "Legendary" notch. :)
I'll fly out there if you supply the food & the hot women.
You'll need to have an escort for my GF at the mall, so I can, ya know, have fun with the hot women & such... ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |

I was unhappy that I missed the fanfest last year.
I'll miss it again this year, simply can't afford it...
After reading this thread, it's apparent that you can't even make 50% of the ppl happy...
I'll just wish CCP lot's of luck with it, and hopefully they take a ton of pictures... ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |

Quote: Ah, but Kieron. Holding a FanFest in the US could also allow you to plug the game here, where it's all but off the shelves of most stores. Except for those of us that caught wind of it during development, the US is a virtual un-tapped hoard of new players. :)
There are so many Sci-Fi geeks in the US, but there are so little of them in the game...
Get a commercial on the US Sci-Fi Channel, the new Stargate (With John Chriton & Aeryn Sun from Farscape), Stargate Atlantis & BattleStar Gallactica are starting up new seasons here in the US in July.
Those shows get great ratings for Sci-Fi shows, and I bet 90% of the audience watching has no frelling clue about EVE Online... ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |

Quote: After seeing TomB covered in body guards at the last fanfest, I think they wouldnt hold a fanfest in America, in fear of some ship-nerfed angry player attempting to shoot TomB
You saying that could only happen in America? ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |
