Latin words do not use Latin pluralizations in English if the word isn't something that would ever have been pluralized in Latin.
E.g. the correct plural of "virus" is "viruses", not "virii" or whatever.
The plural of "Noctis" is therefore "Noctises" in English. |

If you wouldn't write it in italics to indicate the word is foreign, it is (by definition) considered anglicized, and normal rules for pluralization apply. Hence: Octopus: Octopuses. Noctis: Noctises.
Tippia was right the first time though. There are almost no latin nouns that haven't been anglicized to the point that they should still be pluralized with -ii. And you are almost certainly over-correcting if you do that as well as making a mistake. If you wanted to really do Octopus correctly, you'd have to realize it was Greek and not Latin and the proper would be Octopodes.
