According to some tests I've heard about on SiSi, cruise launchers now do more damage to cruisers and nearly as much to battleships as sieges, in missions that is. Apparently they also hit mission frigates for reasonable damage.
Adding the fact that cruise launchers will now have better RoF (22 instead of 28) and still easier fitting than sieges, I can see the new Raven setup being a 6xcruise, 2xNOS setup, doing similar damage due to T2 launchers and the new skills.
Will cruise be the new siege? -- Dark Shikari: POS Consultant!

Edited by: R31D on 03/07/2005 18:22:05 I've been on sisi and I've decided that for BS v BS combat, I'll stick with sieges. For NPCing I'll probably start using cruises seeing as they might have the RoF to actually kill the tougher NPC BS (If they don't do enough damage, I'll stick with torps and just use smartbombs for the little ones)
edit: I can't wait for arbalest siege prices to plummet

The fact that you only used 4, and didn't have the Raven's RoF bonus, would be part of the problem. You also have to use a target painter -- Dark Shikari: POS Consultant!

Uh huh. So you're saying that this 'uberness' is conditional on having straight 5's in skills, and using the best launchers available, and also using target painters?
Tissue?

Uberness? I'm not complaining here . I like cruise being the new siege.
Having all 5s in skills is the only way that sieges will be any good any more. Which is why everyone will use cruises. -- Dark Shikari: POS Consultant!

Cruise missile / rockets = pulses / blasters. Torpedo / standards = beams / rails

Edited by: ErrorS on 04/07/2005 00:57:00 seems you have trouble with the obvious.
Cruise = Beams/Rails Torpedos/Rockets = Blasters/Pulses.
unless of course you wouldn't consider blasters and pulses short range high damage weapons?
lets see here..
cruise missles do less damage then torpedos they have further range
hmm, what does that sound like?
torpedos have shorter range and do more base damage... err, uh? ________

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 04/07/2005 01:34:01 I'm expecting that most cruiser pilots will switch to light missiles (assaults) and most BS pilots will switch to cruises, simply because the damage loss is minimal (20-25% at most) and can easily be offset with a couple levels of the new skills. -- Dark Shikari: POS Consultant!
