I tried the recommened patches but unfortunately they do not work on my system. Would anyone be able to tell me what settings changes were added to these drivers, and maybe I can make them manually.

Hmm, fonts look crystal clear and fit in perfectly (are also very sharp) on my 17" crappy CRT here. Don't know what the problem is. --

Changing the font to a Unicode one means it is more compatible with eastern character sets and machines. If the font's messed up, as people have stated update directx if it's not fully updated already, update grapics drivers, run windows update, play with the settings (try tweaking the font size in particular).
Also sometimes the more info window for agent missions doesn't render the text properly, making it all squash up to one side. Re-opening the window does the trick for me. ----------------------------------------------- My Ideas: Drones wish list <-- 2 years old :O

I am also having a problem that even the Omega drivers wont fix. And yes I have tried them all. The only driver that will work is the factory one . Could anyone tell me what tweaks were made to the Omega drivers that make them work? If so I could try them on my machine.

Omega drivers do not appear to supply linux drivers. As such, they are no help to me.
I'm used to having problems running it under linux, don't get me wrong I'm not *****ing "Oh it doesn't work under linux it must be crap", frankly, I'd rather run it under windows since it generally runs a lot better, but not having a windows machine to hand, this is the only way I can keep sane.
Most problems I can live with, I'm a carebare so a little judderyness here and there or whatever I can live with, but not being able to read the chats is another issue altogether, since I largely play eve for the community and social aspects.
and please, don't say "Install windows", if I at all wanted it on this machine it'd be installed already.
Yup, the new fonts broke the game for us Linux players using Cedega, though I haven't completely given up on it yet. Cedega 4.4 just came out and it fixed the mouse problems. I'm also gonna search around and see if installing come unicode font packages might do the trick. Lastly, if anyone is able to zip up those font files that come with the game for me, I might be able to get it to work by installing them on the system separately. *shrugs* At this point, anything's worth a try.
That would be cool, please let me know if you can solve the problem, should I find anything I'll be posting it here.
In the meantime, I'm gonna go back to trying to work out why the new version of point2play doesn't seem to want to actually let me play games anymore at all! The wine-preloader processes appear, but nothing seems to happen after that.

No, outdated drivers aren't the problem. I have the most up to date drivers available for my nvidia card and they still won't work. I can't use Omega drivers because they're windows only. An unofficial, untrusted third party driver fix is not a fix at all anyway, in my mind. This really needs to be fixed one way or another.

If your SIS drivers are the most up to date, I guess you're in the same boat as the rest of us who can't use Omega drivers or they don't fix the problem then, sorry. CCP's gonna have to release a fix of some sort but we haven't even seen them acknowledge the problem yet, much less state they're working on a fix so...

Greetings once again
My problem was a black bar at the right side of my screen. It seems the driver from Omega don't want to give me a higher resoluton then 969 x 768, it's doesn't support any resolutions higher then that (at least for me).
When i do manage to change it, turning the option of showing only supported onces off, everything becomes blury (fonts, icons, ...) and I still get a little bar.
I guess the max width my PC can give with the newest stuff is 969 or it goes bang. It's a 2 year old Tosh with 16MB video, so ... .
But EVE works great, so im gonna play with the bar i guess.

<Dusting this thread off>
I had the exact same problem as the original poster. My graphics card was an Nvidia GeForce4 MX440 AGP8x. I've updated my driver with the current one from Nvidia and the problem is solved. Just so you know...

I have this problem now.(yeah 4 months later then this thread was created) I just joined and noticed that some of the text was so bold or foggy that it becomes impossible to read. This includes the text in the tutorial window, chat window, and some other places like information that comes up on items and ships/players.
My video settings are: SiS 760, Release: 10/5/2005, version: 6.14.10.3700 Witch was the most up to date driver I could find. Further my computer system is: AMD Sempron 3100+, 1.81GHZ, 192 ram. I allso have the latest DirectX driver, and have tried re-installing the game 3 times now. Someone please help..

Ok, I have the same problem: I have a 'gforce4 440 GO' P4 2.8Ghz, 512mb on my laptop I'm trying to update my vid drivers but NVIDIA doesn't have them (the GO series drivers) so I had to find them on Packard bell site (makers of my LT). low and behold! I already had the latest drivers (shock!! not having updated my drivers in the 2 years I've had the laptop!!!) so dead end!
Now time for my long awaited question: I have seen that other laptops have the same graphics card will using there driver Scr* up my laptop??? I won't try until I know; I need my laptop for Uni and can't afford too loose anything during my dissertation!
Maybe the update CCP are doing now will sort this out I hope so!!!! Have to wait till 2000GMT to find out!!

I too have graphics problems with my 2nd system and Eve.
I have a Shuttle SN43GV2? nvidia mobo with onboard graphics. Have latest drivers, even re-installed windows, all other games work fine (if a little slow) apart from Eve. It does run sort-of in windowed mode but there is significant ship corruption when in station. If I switch to full screen the whole display flickers as if it is running at 20hz or something, tried playing with refresh rates but nothing works, apart from windowed mode. I have tried the drivers from shuttle, and nvidia, and even as many older driver sets as I could find, each time with a fresh install of XP Pro complete with all patches and latest (even tried earlier) DirectX. All in all I think I have spent 100 hours plus trying to sort this out, and have to admit defeat :(
My main system has no issues at all, using an old Ti4200 and XP2500 cpu. Via chipset.
I don't often post but waiting for the patch server to fall over as 20k players attempt to download the patch at 8pm hehe.

Exactly the same card, and drivers I have... I sent a request for help to the GMs when the initial issue came up for me and they said... "We dont support SIS video cards" or they only support ATI and NVidia, or something along those lines....
basically it seems like we are Sh** out of luck. -- http://www.phuncorp.com

In some other games where I had font issues, the cause was Windows 'smooth edges' feature.
to change, go to:
Display properties -> Appearance -> Effects
There's a few options in there.
Not sure if it will make a difference with EVE but it has worked for me on other games. --
