Edited by: Veneth on 06/07/2005 01:11:13 seriously what is going on with frieghters?? why do they take such a enormous amount of minerals to build? and the prices of the skills are astronomical.
I think the dev's are starting to think that players have to much money kicking around, which is sort of true, but this has gotten insane.. it's a cargo hauler... I can buy/build a small fleet of battleships for that price.
I just can't believe how many people seem ok with these prices..

Considering it is just a giant cargo bay, with no fittings at all, the pricing of it seems off.

Edited by: Moominer on 06/07/2005 01:26:51 I think the idea is they are intended for corps/alliances for large scale hauling (of repackaged ships/modules/fuel etc. etc.) from empire down to 0.0 in one big go, and not for individuals to hop around empire in.
Or obviously very rich players, in which case they are being an isk sink which is badly needed currently.
My hauler alt can basically fly a gallente frieghter already (its 2 months old...) but im not going to be able to afford one for *myself* for a long, long while.

It's not an isk sink, people are building these, so someone is making money.
Rich is so..relative.. I have around 1 billion in cash + assests.. I know people with 300+ billion..
My point is. why charge so much for something that just hauls cargo??

because .. it is not intended for personal use..
it is intended for "mega" corporations who need to move couple battleships, cruisers, frigates and still more between places.
it is intended for alliances, who need to do the same as "mega" corps + it is needed to build outposts which costs even more and each component takes 100k m^3.
this is not intended for the single induvidual or small corp, its expensive because it's not "just" a hauler, it's an important logistic ship. ______________ Only in the Tales that humans tell, do the hunters kill the wolf in the end. |

Originally by: Veneth and the prices of the skills are astronomical.
Skills, ship BPO, component BPO all are bought off the market from NPCs so are isk sinks.
The minerals mined to manufacture the ships are just moving isk already in the system not generating any more.

they changed the ships skillbefore it went on TQ and you don't require the capital ship skill now. That skill alone is 400mil which you won't have to pay so don't complain.
anyway just think of all those trade good people can ship around and sell now with those things. The shear quantity means you will make alot more isk from doing it.
Also if you are going to build an outpost you need one because some of the components are 100,000m3 and they need to be built in a station before being hauled to ther platform.

onlything is, with base speed and no modules, everyone will be insta-booking them, or have a friend as a gang member, giving you a good warp in point at every gate

IMHO it doesn't cost enough. If it was 2 billion I would still buy one because I have cussed too many time wasting valuable man hours hauling cruisers and battlecruisers 10+ jumps from my mineral depot to amarr. Cargo is the life blood of EVE... naturally a uber cargo ship will cost uber wages. Its a professionals ship... if your not one then don't complain and just get an itty 5 and some 27% expanders... oops hell that is pretty expensive too... go chew out the vultures selling expanders so high before you question the DEVs intentions.

perhaps you have forgotten there are still people that are will to spend large sums of money on a ship, but since when should a massive freight hauler make a battleships price tag seem whimpy?
Many of you have simply lost a grip on money with how easily it can flow in eve, I'll just leave and let you all enjoy excessive pricing.
And my heartfelt apology to any noob trying to make it somewhere in this game these days..

Do you have any concept of how much money you could make with just one transport of goods? How about the truly mind boggling quantities of minerals you could move from those huge, low priced sell orders to those huge, high priced buy orders?

transport of trade goods wouldn't be affected terribly much seeing there's a limted number released in a day.
and the low sell orders and high buy orders would even out as they could themselves move the minerals.. those getting rid of the need to blow out the mins cause you don't wanna haul..
THINK
edit: and simply because joe other there wants to sell his trit at .001 cause he has 30 mill units shouldn't be a basis for a pricing of a new ship class..
should the prices of i5's rocket cause I'll give you free Zyd that'll just fill it's cargo hold so u can sell it? no..

You think. I said goods not trade goods. If you can't imagine a dozen ways to make a billion isk by using a freighter then you lack imagination. These are powerful tools and a valuable investment.
Time is isk.
Those buy and sell orders even themselves out? Looked at the market lately? Transporting huge amounts of mins is costly. When one run in one ship can replace dozens of runs by a half dozen ships, that is worth MONEY.
When one ship can transport five battleships at one time to their point of sale, that is worth MONEY.
When those battleships can be of all four races and not require a transport character with skills to pilot all four races' battleships, that is worth MONEY.

Edited by: belzebub1 on 06/07/2005 07:29:55 Doing 200 jumps in 1 day with 2 accounts hauling trit is a pain. I am glad that freighters are here and I am happy with the price. My BPo is already in the lab and the components Bpo's will be hitting the labs today.
Some points to note Gallente freighter takes nearly 3 weeks to raise 1 ME. Takes 15 days just to build 1 - not including the components and gathering materials. It also takes a long time to copy the BPC's. Taking all of this into account there will not be to many of these produced every day unlike all the other ship classes.

Want to hire trit miners will be paid very well

You are absolutely right.
The first thing a new player needs on joining the game is a freighter. I mean if its not for new players then whats the point in making them in the first place. The BPO is also unreasonably priced. I dont think its worth more than maybe 45k to 50k isk. The mineral requirements should def be below that of a shuttle.
Oh wait I'm talking nonsensical crap just like you are. Get a grip and enjoy the game or quit (I prefer whiners quitting actually)

Yep they take about 15 days to make the ships and something like 6 weeks to make a BPC so don't expect that to happen. No point inresearching the ME unless you have the Component Bpo's. At current minerals prices expect them to be closer to 1bil than 800mil

These are BPo's they are only available on maret, Gallente BPo costs 1.98 Billion,
If you get a BPc you either have to get BPc's for all 4 components or buy the components from manufacturers.
If you are intrested in mining trit give me a shout ingame please as my corp will be making freighters.

here's a little hint. next time you try to call someone a noob why don't you check out just how long they've been playing for? I think you'll be suprised
did I say noob being able to buy one? no.. my personal vision for freighter prices was in the 150-200 million range. not this astromical pricetag they've come up with for a mass cargo ship.
The problem this game is encountering is that every new ship they crank out (besides Destroyers and BCs) but the Interceptors, covert ops, Logestics (sp), HACs, Assault ships, Bombers, transports and now the Freighters and Dread's are for the select few.
there's no reason for a mass cargo ship to have close to a 1 bill price tag. the price of a battleship + some would of been fair enough if you ask me.
The problem I see with most of you older players like myself is you "screw NEWER players" attitude. you've become to leet. heaven forbid someone playing this game for a few months can fly something cool
And don't worry I already quit. but no you can't have my stuff. gave it all to the Corp ;)

They're all for the select few because they are specialized ships and only needed by the select few.
The price of freighters is based on their potential profitability. Is a freighter potentially ten times more profitable than a battleship? Easily yes.

Hi, noob here. Ive been playing this game for a couple days shy of a month now. I have absolutely no problem with the new freighter prices. If everything in the game was available to anyone that played the game hard for 2 months what would the point be of playing for more than that? I love the fact that there are huge things out there to strive towards.

Ditto, been playing about 2 months now. Mainly as a hauler to/from 0.0 to/from Empire, and love the idea of Freighters, and am fine with the price. It shouldn't take that long to recoup with the profit potential of that ship.
