Is this due to the missile changes only, or the added difficulty of a few of the level 4 missions?
Only a few of them were made harder, most are the same as they were pre-patch.
If you name the missions you are most unsatisfied with, I will take a look at them.

Both of you have a point. Missions were too profitable due to the massive bounties on the high-end NPCs, but them being too easy is a non-issue as level 4 is not the end of mission difficulty (level 5s will be a step above level 4 and we will probably go higher than that eventually).
I am very interested in feedback from fairly new players who just started doing level 4 missions and find them too hard after the patch. Level 4s are not supposed to be group missions, but of course a group mission is a very relative term as it totally depends on how powerful the player(s) doing the mission is/are. For some mission X may be impossible to do solo, for others it's easy.
And please keep this discussion civil .

Level 4 are neither supposed to be solo or group missions, because as I said it's completely relative to the player and his ship/equipment if the mission should be considered 'group' or 'solo' oriented. What I mean is that they can be considered either a group mission or a solo mission, depending on the player, and therefore we can't really call them either as we aren't forcing players to solo or group in them, we leave it open to the player to decide whether he groups or solos.
We increased the difficulty slightly on a few missions, perhaps a bit over the top and I'm certainly open for any complaints about that (I just need specific mission names and reason(s) why they are too hard).

We only raised the difficulty of a couple level 4 missions to make them more group friendly, however the player does have the option to decline them if he/she cannot do them solo or find any help to finish them.
But yes I agree with you we shouldn't force people to play in a certain way, that's why it's my intention to pretty much leave the level 4 difficulty as it is (with minor tweaks perhaps) and instead implement level 5 missions in Kali as something that's more intended for groups due to the difficulty increase. Rewards being split between gang members is also scheduled for Kali.

The bounties were too high, according to various experts inhouse. The fact that we reduced the bounties doesn't mean the mission won't be profitable for groups, because remember you're killing a lot faster in a group than solo.

Killing faster means you're getting more money over time. So if you are in a good group, you could potentially be getting more than if you are solo since you can complete the missions a lot faster and don't run into trouble (and have to warp out) as much.
Even though you're splitting the profits, you're also getting a lot more over time than if you were solo since you're killing faster and completing the missions faster.

I'm not ignoring anyone in this thread actually, I just don't have time to reply to everyone.
About the shared mission issue, I've been campaigning for this feature for over a year. It will finally materialize in Kali. Of course it would have been better to implement it in Exodus, but we only had the time and resources to implement so much.
The rewards will always be looked at by us, I didn't decide to nerf them myself over a cup of coffee, they were nerfed after a long and arduous debate within Game Design. We still have to analyze what effects this has on the game and we will be monitoring that closely.

To end this thread:
I noticed a couple missions that were too hard for generic level 4s. Would have been fine for COSMOS, but they were a tad too hard for the generic level 4s.
The advanced players here might argue that they are still easy, but level 4s in Empire aren't specifically crafted for you guys . Level 5's will eventually be implemented to give players with lots of skill points and top-notch equipment a challenge, but it's impossible to balance level 4s to suit both those players and the ones that have recently acquired a battleship.
However I agree with you that level 4s in Empire were too profitable due to the lucrative bounties, and so do all of our veterans inhouse. That's why they were tweaked. But that was the underlying 'problem', not the fact that they were too easy. Therefore both of you have a point, and both arguments will be listened to. Have a nice day .
