Is it possible to pre pay the rent .....
i nearly lost my labs this weekend cause i went away and wasnt in game to re-rent them, it did however cause me to lose 3 days copying time >o|, surely CCP cant expect ppl to play everyday just to make sure nothing has changed or been updated :(

That was going to be my question - I'm off on holiday for two weeks soon and I guess that means I'll lose my research slots :(
And before anyone says anything they are in use ALL the time ;-P

It looks like, under the current environment. Pre-paying rent is not allowed. Remember, rent is currently set for 5 days, and if you do not use the factory in that time frame, rent cannot be renewed.
Unfortunately that means if you're going to be gone for a week, you either need to turn your factory and lab slots over to someone who can maintain them, or say goodbye to your rent contract. That means if you take a vacation your long search for a research slot is going to start all over again.
Yes, I think it sucks. But at least you have a chance of finding some again. Before this rule came into effect, no one had factory or research slots unless they grabbed them during the first week of release. :(

You can go away for up to 9 days with out losing your slots. Rentals are 5 days.
So unrent and rerent (this starts the rental period today and pays rent for 5 days). Now pay the rental extension ( pays rent for the next 5 days you are now paid up for 10 days). Use each of your slots this will mark each slot as used such that your rental extension will be excepted.
Then your safe for 9 days. Some time befor the end of the tenth day you have to logon pay the rent extension and use each slot or you will lose them.
This worked for me when I went away for 5 days last week. ( I have heard some folks are still reporting 3 day rentals but mine were all 5 days when I renewed. )

Well maybe by some shear grace of god a Dev will see a similar post that i raised in the ideas lab of the forum, where i suggested an autopay option to be implemented .... it wouldnt affect the use it or lose it policy since the algorithm could simply check before the payment goes out to see if anything has been researched / built during the last period. If so it rerents automatically, if not it is refused in the same way it does now if u do it manually.
We can only hope someone out there in the world of CCp is listening

First everyone cries that people rent all the slots. Now ppl cry because they can't have a slot renting drone to go around and rerent their slots so other ppl can get them

Think you missed the point slightly Aras.
My point was if i rent a lab and i'm actively using it (ie.e research/copy batch) i dont see why i should lose it just because i was not playing this game 24 hours a day 7 days a week to wait for the rent bill to come in.
This isnt like the situation before where pplwould rent them and never use just to stop others from using them.
