Hey Guys,
Just a quick question. Is there any avenue for changing your characters name? Ive noticed that there is account options to switch portraits.. But what I really want to do is change the character name (I have a number of characters with themed names, and one without).

Not possible I'm afraid.
I believe the only circumstance where it is allowed is if the name offends someone.
(You could get someone to complain that the name in question means something naughty in an obscure language )

I suspected as much, would give people too easy a way to hide from things they had done. Ah well, guess Im stuck with the name :)

Don't worry mate, there's always someone with a worse user name than you. Trust me. How about mine, for example?  Inspiring isn't it, must have taken me all of 0.125 milliseconds to come up with. Not being the sharpest knife in the drawer I assumed I'd be able to change it to something more suitable at a later date.
A few e-mails later I found out only abusive user names can be changed.

Or something similar...
Yeah, as you now know, only an offensive name can be changed.. Just gonna have to live with it im afraid.

I don't know why they don't make a system that tracks character names. I've seen it in some other games that kept track of every name you had used, so that if you did something bad and tried to hide by changing your name, anyone could still look you up with your old name anyway. Maybe it's not entirely within the RPG spirit, but coming up with a good name is hard, especially if you change your mind a bit at some point (making a new character just for the sake of name change is a bit overkill).

Yep, that sounds better. For me this was my first MMORPG and I thought changing names would be a little like Counterstike (i.e. no hassle) I really never thought I'd be lumped with whatever stupid name I chose at the beginning.
Having looked at a character creation section in an EVE guide, I knew there was a lot do before I even got into the game, so having had my first two name choices rejected (they were taken) I just picked something simple so I could get on with it. I fully expected to be able to review it or change it later. Gah!
