Verily that was a scam on the verge of Art Ryoko. Masterfully done :)
I applaud thee

Although Jade speaks for us oh so well, I must chime in in saying that I do not see where Setec's group was in the wrong on this particular case

Decadent Gallante gentleman, eh? Somehow I think I fail in that regard myself, lacking the talents of our Most Esteemed CEO. Spending to much time in my Factories to work on my linguistic skills, as if I could hear myself over the clamor anyway.
My only true regret is not being on hand to assist the Summer Rain in her time of need, although she managed to escape from the situation with her hull (mostly) intact

Actually I think J0sephone exited stage left, saying something about a Casino.
May Lady Luck shine on her endeavors in said establishment

Saladin. They are Pirates. If they took the time to confirm EVERYTHING they wouldn't be able to rob ANYONE. The Negotiator didn't get the money, and they saw him log off. What more do you want?
"Hey everyone, he just logged off, but lets waste our two minutes before he is gone by checking our wallets"
Does it matter if he went link dead? They don't KNOW that. It LOOKS like he is trying to escape payment by logging off. Perfectly Understandable.

"So it is understandable that they opened fire without checking their wallets, yet it is not understandable when someone being held up for cash pays the first person he sees on his screen? from my perspective it LOOKS like they fired on him after payment. Is it "Perfectly Understandable" that I am ****ed?"
The catch to all this is that he went link dead after paying. Did he have a chance to TELL them he payed? Personally, even transferring money between Corp Mates I ALWAYS say, "Ok, I sent you the money", because we don't get a message saying it happened.
This entire incident would not have happened, if he had not lost his connection (which is not his fault), and could have said, "Here is your money, now let me pass".
While I will admit to not having experience with Pirate blockades, I can't imagine it being SOP for a Victim to pay up and then log off RIGHT there. What else is there to assume but that they are trying to get out of paying? Especially if the person talking to the victim sees he has not recieved the money.
You may be angry, but its over a misunderstanding that would not have happened if he didn't crash. I don't think you can really blame this on anyone. Yes, he should have payed the person he was talking to about the terms and payment, but he could have made it clear to them that he had in fact paid if he was there to do so.

Ha! No Photographer can harm the looks of this Gallente, take that as you will.
I have seen my share of Fair Gallente Maidens, although I'm somewhat partial to Caldari as well. I would gladly take you up on any offers Jade falls through on Miss J0sephine, although I'm not nearly as linguistically talented
