Very much doubt dev's "cheat" on their player accounts. Sometimes devs such as TomB comes online with his "dev" account and fools around though.
Also, devs dont get fired if they're found out, thats only polaris vols, never heard about a dev getting found out but i'm guessing if they did, they'd just delete the char. |

Plus Devs have to be on a minimum of 8 hours a day.
Having a dev in corp would definately be interesting.
I beg to differ. It's not that this job is like being an Ultima Online, Gamemaster on a freeshard..and you have to have a minimum time "online".... it's their job, they do it fulltime... when they go home they can play eve of course.. they just have to keep those 2 things separated. ---------------------

Just look at the current system for mining, the crappy can system, the stupid concord protection of thiefs and grifers, and the lack of ideas on the dev's part to fix any of it.
Now you know.
Because they don't want to fix it. Jettson your ore? You throw it away, it's anyones ore now.

I think the real question is. If they play...Do they Cheat
afterall i find it a bit difficult to believe that Ovuer has to get out the old mining APOC and mine soe ore for cash when he gets a bit skint. More likley he will just "gift" himself what ever item he needs
now the question becomes if a dev is caught cheating in the game can we partition a ban on his/her account

Edited by: Rod Blaine on 14/07/2005 20:58:28 Edited by: Rod Blaine on 14/07/2005 20:56:43 Devs probably play different types of play just like everyone in the game does.
I do expect there'll be more in PVP and alliances then there are empire missions runners or miners. If you create an intricate piece of gamery I'd expect you to want to experience it to the full extent of what you intended it to be. And, as valid as the mission and mining professions are, that full extent is not found in safe and simple empire gameplay (not saying it all is like that in empire, cause it's not)
But, all in all, I think you'd be surprised what the CCP devs like and learn from that. So far, even the changes I've been most sceptical about eventually have turned out alot better then I'd have said upfront, indicating more comprehension of their own game then you would sometimes say from the looks of some things.
Anyway, don't expect any of them to be major corp ceo's tho. They would never have the time for that kind of play. they'd probably be on an hour or what more or less daily and keep themselves a bit on the background.
Oh, and the coomunity did discover one of them at a time (NOT in my corp btw). I think he's simply changed character appearance and wiped his corp history now, having gone off to a corp on the other side of Eve probably... _______________________________________________

Originally by: Siri Danae The Devs swear they play the game, but what kinds of players are they? They're secretive about it... conspiratorially secretive.
My theories on who the devs are in their alteregos:
1. Mining carebears. In some remote station in high-sec empire is a tech 2 large mining barge with 4 Jovian stripminers. 2. Ganksquads. Battleship fleets suddenly appearing near people who complain too much on the forums. 3. Illusive 0.0 Industrialists. Building an Outpost so far out in 0.0 that no player will ever find them.
Any other theories?
#2...yaaaa, thats CCP devs, gankers extreme...

One of my friends was a BH when he wasnt on the test server he was on TQ killing pirates in his raven, but the strangest thing was is that he never joined a corp, im not sure if this is a policy or what but he was happy in his noob corp.

When the Devs log in, they like to look around and pretend they don't see any of the blindingly obvious bugs that we've been putting up with for so long.

I would think that they do play, as well as GM's, and that if they did become known we would probably be extremely supprised who they were or what corp they were in etc....
Do they cheat?
Yes in 1 way at least, they know whats comming, with the best will in the world, if you know whats about to happen it would influence youre actions. For example when the price of bs bpo's was dropped, would a dev have bought 1 at the old price the day b4 the patch?
Do they cheat to the extreme of spawning themselves ships, mods etc? I doubt it, if you could give urself everything and kill every1, what would be the point in playing?
If i were a dev id keep it quiet as well, could you ever enjoy the game as a "normal player" if every1 in youre corp knew you were a dev? Imagene the constant questions, requests and favours you would be asked for............
