Obviously for more expensive hulls (or if you're just looking to 1v1 similar hulls) it doesn't make sense but if a big group like RvB started pushing the idea for cheaper hulls, maybe it would catch on.

The cartel isn't really relevant anymore, as the price of tech is effectively hard-capped by the price of cobalt+platinum+fuel blocks. Stupid to fit an expensive micro auxiliary core when a t1 provides enough powergrid and cpu is not an issue? T1 exploration mods when t2 have high skill training times and faction are expensive or a loss is certain? There are ample times when t1 non-meta items work well, are the best option cost-wise, or the only option. Just because you don't realize that doesn't mean you need to belittle others.
