I just came back from a long break, and I had completely forgotten what stuff I have and where it is. Poking through my assets, I got to thinking-- Say the asset window relies on one specific hamster to function, and that poor guy decides he's done and goes home for good. (To be fair, he's been working pretty hard and I'd say he's earned a retirement.) How much of your stuff is lost forever?
In my case, there's a carrier that I'm pretty sure would take a few weeks to find, once I remembered that I had it. Then there are other random ships stashed all over EVE (most with varyinigly suggestive names), "just in case a good fight pops up" BC's around old stomping grounds, "shuttle" frigs with nothing but an MWD on them, jerry-rigged probers, small stacks of ammo all over the place, and stacks of industrial bits from when I was into that side of the game.
I've also got a salvaging destroyer that'll probably stay in its player-owned nullsec station forever. It's the only ship I still have from when I first started playing, and I'll be damned if I'm going to sell it!
I may just be unusually scatterbrained, but I can't be the only one. So whaddya got? A couple hundred exotic dancers in some backwater lowsec station, leftovers from one epic night a few years back? Stack of minerals that just aren't quite worth the risk or effort of hauling them somewhere useful? Fess up! |

Funny this topic comes up now. Just finished a 'spring cleaning' of sorts. Sometimes use my asset window as a way of autopiloting someplace I want to go easily, so left a few items in key positions. But was getting cluttered with the type of stuff you described. Trashed the odd piles of crap (Ore/mins from ganked miners, small piles of T2 Ammo, etc)
Also, -Stacks of old Tempests/Maels and Thrashers stashed along ganking lanes that never got used before Tornados came out. Collecting them was worthwhile because Tempests and Maels were around 75M and 110M respectively at the time - and are now worth twice that.
-NPC trade items that used to be marginally profitable along well worn routes - just to insure your freighters were always 100% full. Some never got to their destination before changes were made to NPC trade orders.
-Odd stuff like stacks of "Large Grav Cap" Rigs, when I used to run pre-covop cloaky BRs to NPC 0.0 stations. Rigs were always popular items, but rigs were sized differently since then. Anyone nead Scanning Rigs for their Napoc?

I have crap EVERYWHERE. Mostly due to my dabbling in market trading. I've been trying to clear some of it out recently, though. Scooping it up on the way past, making dedicated runs, etc. It's kinda hard. |

I know what you mean here, I still have "Probe drop" bookmarks all over solitude from the old scanning system. If I look around I might have a buzzard with large grav cap rigs on it, but I'm not entirely sure. |

The worst is if you store things in a passworded can and so cannot view its contents. Forcing you to visit it to find out what it was. I still have a few items in fountain and syndicate from when Bruce was about. A 3 year break made it like starting again as a rookie. Also shuttles, shuttles everywhere. |

On topic:
I do have alot of junk everywhere, but sometimes I do a little bit cleanup. Most of my stuff is in highsec systems, somewhat near tradehubs.
All the stuff I had in nullsec has been sold / trashed. I still remember how much efford CVA pets put into catching the rifter I tried to get out of provi. Those guys must be bored, I even said Hi to my old friends and they only replied with smacktalk. The Logi Pilot we need... Not the Logi Pilot we deserve |

I've started to look at asset management in Eve like any other ISK generating activity. If I can make more ISK doing something else then I do. And when a cluttered inventory starts getting in the way I start trashing things. If something is worth keeping I go and get it, then and there. If not then it gets trashed, whole hangers in many cases. Its been very liberating.
This is a youtube playlist going over my first 30 ship losses. Video sucks but the audio came out well. There are some good lessons, and if you know the game there's some funny stories. |

I spent about an hour this weekend tracking down a capital BPO trying to work out which alt I had contracted it to and where. |

Two weeks in I made a region-wide buy order for drone poo before I understood how that works. I now have 2-3 of each.
