Well since travel times have become even longer now after patch and travel is the one aspect of this game that drives me nuts, Id like to point out that the implement of interbus travel system has been promised for about 2 years. How about all U nice developers put the nerf bat on the shelve for a little while and do smth to eliminate a very annoying factor of the game. Praeludium to success |

PLEASE give us a faster way to travel. This sucks right now, I can't do anything right now because it takes an hour to bring my battleship more than 15 jumps and takes half that to do it in a shuttle which still wastes tons of time.
It would be great if interbus had jump drives too. Where it would jump 5 systems, wait 1 minute, and jump another 5. If it just travels gate-to-gate then i might aswell use a shuttle. -----------------------------------------------

for travel i just fit everything with an mwd and any other speed boosting things in low slots, unless im going to expect a fight along the way. Instas still work though. Buy new ones or make ones for the new routes.

Make it easy to travel, and hard to haul. I.e. if you want to trade items, that will take a while, but just moving yourself should be easy. This will keep the regional markets while letting people have fun. --
Want your POS to make money? Call me up. I've designed POSs that make upwards of 50m a day. |

I agree with this (a very good idea).
However for all the people saying "Ooh I have to lug my BS 15 jumps", centeralize your activities and apply some forethough and organisation to your corp activities.

Shouldn't it be so that one (or even the major one) disadvantage of BS is their "slow" speed?

Yeah, give us a way to get places fast, but we should not be able to take anyhting with us. I'd be happy if we are forced to leave our ship behind, and be forced to get a new one on the other side if you wanna go flying.

I can't figure out why CCP made travel so slow. Is this a cultural thingy?
Slow travel = boredom = noobs quiting. Not me, I'm old enough to have tons of patience. But I can see where younger folks can't be bothered. I was that way when I was young. Of course we didn't have computers or computer games back then.
It would be interesting to get a Dev's opinion on this.

Pre-patch a lot of people complained that all space was "generic" and that different areas were not regionalised or unique.
I agree with the above but am a lazy sob and would be happy if every system was one jump away

Who not introduce a series of special acceleration gates that are designed to throw only pods or special kind of shuttle over huge distances.
You can pay maybe 50,000 ISK to hurl your pod from say Jita to Tash-Murkon and several other long distance routes via one of these gates.

So what your saying is that because travel was a pain to begin with, that it should remain that way? Gotta love the traditionalist backwards thinking

An hour? 15 jumps?
Lordy, haven't you heard of nanofibres and an MWD?
Fit those and your battleship won't be much slower than the aforementioned shuttle. I had to move my bs 27 jumps last week and it took about forty minutes. I will move my bs 15 jumps just to join in a one-off mining operation.

Yeah some kind of far distance travelling gates that send you from one side to the other. Ofc these gates would have ship size restrictions

Just introduce an interface whereby XXXXm3 of cargo space cost XX isk per jump.
Each jump should take approx. 30 minutes each.
So, for example, you could use an Escrow-style interface to move 25000m3 (charged at 1M isk per 1000m3) over 23 jumps (charged at 2M per jump). This means it'd cost you 11.5hrs and 71M isk to move your stuff around.

Thing is, in 0.0 I don't always have the luxury of stations where there is good ore and good npcs. Sure instas are nice, and I do use them off and on, but aren't we trying to move away from using them? Right now, all i see is more demand for them. -----------------------------------------------

man, all we need is too let the dreads/carriers be able too jump drive with other classes of ships, problem solved.
let them form a worp jump bubble then whatever skill range they got means the more ships they can jump with in that bubble & the less fule they need too do it. work somthing out like that anyway. it would be better for fleet battles too i think for raiding and such.

From what I gather the highways were causing server load issues with so many people all jumping into the same places. The devs have said a few times how much less load on the servers there are now. This is unfortunate, since as you've said, newbies are starting to hate the huge long trips. What's even worse is the removal of the gates means that newbies on their tutorial and storyline missions are being sent on 17 jump trips into .4 and lower space. Welcome to EVE, spent an hour traveling and die horribly why don't ya!
Add to that the frustation of the "avoid pod kill zones" where people aren't able to make a single jump because some warmonger killed someone in Kisogo, and you have some VERY unhappy newbies. There's a lot of confusion and disappointment caused by the removal of highways, and people haven't started going to 0.0 or spreading out like the devs wanted.

Kinda funny I was around before most of the interstate travel systems where I live.
I still ***** it takes to long to get places.
Simply because you have nothing better to do does not mean the rest of us want to be bored to death.
And to the comment that we should centralize all our assets stuff ect. It's a large universe why shouldn't I enjoy as much of it as I can?

Ahhhhhh Haaa! Bingo, good idea. Eve has been needing a few isk sinks since exodus, and this will create a win-win situation. Long travel times are a pain if u need to haul a load of junk, so paying to have npcs do this for you would allow more time for fun, at the same time as sucking a few mill out of the economy.
Although maybe the time and cost per jump may be a little bit OTT at the figures quoted..... But then again, I'm a tight bastard so maybe it is a reasonable figure afterall

Well, it is completely without risk so I doubt it would be very popular as far as game balance goes. Perhaps their could be a random factor introduced whereby it fails to reach the destination due to NPc pirate invasion and you get an Agent-type mission to "rescue" it?

Yeah, that could be cool, or possibly your goods would go out as part of a regular NPC convoy, thereby giving other players the chance to gank the haulers and loot it in transit using the same/similar mechanics as exist already?
Maybe that would be a little too risky tho. However imagine the fun factor if a killmail were generated and the looters were flagged to you and your corp for say 24-48hrs, maybe with their location shown on the map for it's duration to allow you chance for retribution!
Dunno really about any of this idea. I'm still locked outta TQ since 5 days ago, so just filling my time by reading these forums. Still think your original idea is good, and maybe could work with a few tweaks to help with balancing.

Yes because even though new ships, new guns, new mods, new everything has been developed (from a RP POV) new travel methods shouldnt have?

How about this: Interbus can take you anyplace in the galaxy for a nominal fee. This is handled like any other contract:
- 1 hour downtime per jump. If you want to jump 20 hours, then your character is out of play for 20 hours. No more grinding. Use another character for a few hours. I hate the grinding. I don't mind it being like training a skill - come back after reading email or dinner or whatever. - 5K ISK per jump. This makes it newbie-friendly. - 5 units of cargo/one item, or half of a shuttle. This is your "luggage". You could do many courier missions like this, if you wanted to take more time and have lower profits. - You are delivered from your originating station to the ending station of your choice. Obtaining a ship or whatever once you are there is your own problem. Smart payers will bring along an item worth some ISK just in case, or to sell and buy a shuttle. Or not, and just jump around getting market info.

WOW thats a good plan. Ties the NPC convoys back into the PvP nature of the game too! You could make them only vulnerable when doing the slow ass 100km to and from the destinaiton and start
