I bet that its often the case that sometimes the logs show you're talking utter bollocks
Better to say "they show nothing" than to get into a "he said, she said" handbag fight.

I've always had pretty good luck with my petitions as well.
Many of the smaller ones I have submitted were resolved within a single hour. Had a couple that were resolved within 10-15 minutes. Rare, but appreciated at the time.
In my experience, the only petitions which can take days are account, reimbursement, and "other". Whatever that other might be. |

IB4L/Delete I guess its a good thing they don't say that everything is logged then isn't it? DUST514 isn't on PC because CCP wants 2 different communities influencing each other, not people tabbing out to give themselves Orbital Strikes. (Also they don't want to cannibalise their existing playerbase) |

Everything is logged in great detail -- but you have to keep in mind that there are, on average, anywhere from thirty to fourty thousand people playing EVE at any one time. Each one of them generates a near-constant stream of data -- market transactions, chat logs, client-server synch data, latency reports -- so when a Dev says 'the logs show nothing', they've had to search terabytes of information to try and find that one little bit that might prove a person's case.
I'm willing to bet that when they say 'the logs show nothing', they're really saying 'Sorry, we've looked as hard as we can in the time we have available, but we couldn't find anything that would help us make a decision'. |

every GM has there own little copy and paste they use for years now..
GM pyro uses this line
Quote:After fully investigating this matter, we see no indication of any bug or server side error in this instance. We are unfortunately unable to intervene in this matter as there are no signs of game mechanics not working as intended in this instance.
He has been using this part of tekst for several years now as other ppl who petition complex matters gets exactly the same reply.. Same goes for the reply in timely fashion..
The more complex the matter the longer they wait untill they send you an responds.. So you can already except the fact that your screwd..
There is absolutly nothing which gives you the impresion that they actualy investigated anything.
New however is being threatend with an ban.
Not being able to re-open your case is an very nice to have tool for ccp.
CCP customer support is by far the most frustrating of the whole game. |

i still dont belive that CCP actualy have all the logs that they say they have lol, that or folks handling petitions just copy and paste that response when looking into the matter would take to much work. |

The logs can only show an occurrance if it affects the server, they cannot show something that occured on your client computer (and could be altered if they requested them from you).
I have had a couple of instances where I petitioned and logically they could not substanciate it from the logs. As it turned out the issue was totally client side or an issue somewhere between the client and the server. This makes sense and is completely understandable.
I have also had several issues that were immediately substanciated by the server logs and dealt with accordingly.
This is nothing new or unusual in any way, it just happens to be something that most people do not feel the need to comment on as they are well satisfied with the results.
Kudo's to the OP for pointing out this particular instance. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

Ive only had a couple if instances where I felt the need to petition for a loss, and I both times things were resolved to my satisfaction. One was when I was recalling probes and the sever crashed during the process. I got my sisters probes refunded. The other was some POS guns that would not unanchor, but actually came on-line and tried to shoot me despite the lack of a control tower. CCP destroyed the guns and refunded new ones.
Once a corp mate used drones from his orca to blow up a blue wreck, clicking through the (pre-crimewatch II) warning. CONCORD releaved him of the Orca and the Hulk it was carrying. He felt it was a bug ( it was not) and petitioned it. Customer services took pity on him and refunded the lost ships.
There are some things you can do to help.
The server can only log information it gets from the client, and information it sends to the client. It cannot log that you clicked a button and the packet got lost. So think about what happened: is it something that the server saw happen?
Next: Be polite. Don't demand, request
Then: Give as much information as you can in a concise manner. include what matters, leave out what does not. Your goal is to make their job as easy as possible. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

My most recent reimbursement petition was for a loss to station guns after shooting a WT POS in LS extended my GCC long after I had stopped shooting neutrals. The logs showed what happened, and I was reimbursed.
The previous petition was for a loss caused my the well publicized issues the Mac client has. The logs did not show anything, as the problems were entirely client side, and I was not reimbursed.
Seems to be how things work. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.
