Its not 0.0 its 0.00001323 or something. Its only in below 0.0 that sentries wont attack e.g. a -0.00000001 system. For gods sake its empire :p they are meant to hence why its AMARR EMPIRE soveringty, everyone knows that :|

hmm i remember seeing a few sentries on gates in outering . somewere between PF-346 > 4C-B7X , i do agree though about not having them in 0.0 tbh

Well, cause it only has room to display one decimal place... and through the wonders of rounding 0.00002 gets changed to 0.0...
Anyway, this is the way it is. It's been like this for the last two years, you didn't know and someone lost a ship as a result. No big deal, lesson learned. Whining about it on the forums isn't going to change anything.

Its just low sec empire like 0.4 0.3 0.2 0.1 and 0.0
But its still empire. There are many 0.0 empire systems but there are meant to be... its like.... part of the game....

I've never met this phenomena before, and it is incredibly misleading when looking at the security status in the top left of the system don't you think?
Had I met this before, I'd have kicked up a stink before.
Regardless of whether it's empire or not, if the security status is 0.0, then surely this means you have 0.0 security there?? Needs making MUCH clearer if it's catching out players like myself who've been playing for as long as I have!

It's been like this forever.
I thought the general rule was that if it is a "named" 0.0 system then it has sentries.
I did however see a few random looking systems in the outer ring that had them. That puzzled me.

was with flying with a mate one time who got killed the same way in Edbringer. No 0.0 system should have sentries, named or not.

There are 0.0 systems that are NPC claimed, its not always easy to figure out wich thise are but then again... if you dont bother finding out about the local area you will probably step on a few toes.

If the system has sentries, even in 0.0 (0.0 systems with actual names do have sentries), then it is still empire, you still take security hits and the sentries still shoot you if you are a criminal.

mmm lets see those that dont have the XXX-XX name in them but are empire claimed and 0.0 have sentry guns. Hence u get destroyed want to be free of sentries u have to go to the XXX-00 systems

General rule if there is sentrys they will shoot u, only exception i know of is outer ring.
And as someone said system names is a good hint.

i guess the original poster is a bit frustared as the system went against him - but a lesson learned now and ship insurance means he will be more careful next time in empire 0.0 systems

Empire and 0.0 space have never been distinct regions there are areas of intersection. In those areas the fact that it's empire controlled has always over-ridden any security status. If it's controlled by an empire, expect that empire to impose its laws.
Sahkt had sentry guns before it joined to Delve, and it still has them.
What would the point of sentry guns be if they didn't shoot you for breaking the law ?

As others have said, lesson learnt.
I simply had in all the time i have played Eve, never visited a 0.0 system with Sentires, and engaged someone there causing the lesson to be learnt earlier.
The guy that lost the ship, will no doubt take it on the chin.
My understanding of 0.0 was it was a lawless environment, as the warning when you enter a 0.0 area for the first time tells you so.
My underatnding of 0.0 systems has changed, and the corp that ****ed us off, will probably get a war dec instead.
