Oh wait! I know! How about as a paying customer It is my CCP given right to utilize any aspect of the game in which I choose at any given time of my choosing.
G'day. I love it when people trot out the, "as a paying customer..." thing, as if they've never read the EULA. Your right to form a corp when you don't necessarily need to be forming one is not something that's a God-given right. You give CCP money, you get to play their game as they see fit.
There are some very good arguments to be made for making it harder to form a corporation. This game is difficult, and when noob-corps vaccuum up newbies like it's no tomorrow, they're setting these new players up for failure.
The reason eve has such a relatively low newbie retention rate is because nobody really knows what they're doing. Goons had to make their own wiki, and add knowledge about the game to it as they were able. Our wiki was better than any resource for eve online for ages. When a noob asks other noobs to follow them, they just set themselves up for disaster.
There should at least be a few months worth of training required before a corporation can even be formed. It's silly that CCP is losing customers because idiots take them under their wing and completely destroy their ability to play the game properly. |

No. They do not really want others to change, but they want to have a reason to play their game in their way, which often means to avoid playing "by the book" (meaning to follow social conventions, being morally right, etc.), but to do something new. In reference to the above:
Yeah, I took a couple of weeks break after beta, but once in I formed my corp ASAP with people I knew from Beta. That being said, it was a much simpler time in many ways.
As an interesting aside, the university where I work just recently completed a mandatory training session called "Shots Fired". As it turns out many organizations are finally realizing that while yes there is a time to just keep your head down and wait for help, you also need to be prepared to fight back if the situation evolves to the point where not doing so will end up in your being slaughered like sheep. The trick is in knowing when that time comes, and how to not come across as the assailant if law enforcement is also in the building at the time.
To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

Do they really? Where do they say this? I see in "The New Halaima Code of Conduct" that they are enforcing their view which is summarized as "no afk mining allowed" by suicide ganking and bumping the offending miners. The "rebel miners" have decided that "afk mining is allowed and encouraged," they try to resist with websites and tactics. The fact it spawned some content is coincidental and great.
Do you take into consideration that in wanting to have a reason to play their game in their way that they must enforce their views on other players in order to do so? This post was loving crafted by a member of the Official GoonWaffe recruitment team. |

You seem quite caught up on the word arrogance, by the way. As if treating new players as anything other the unique and special snowflakes you think they are is some sort of crime. It isn't. They're told that everything that puts them into direct competition with other players will cause their face and hands to turn into poisonous scorpions and that they need to mine and grind missions until they grow bored enough of this game to unsubscribe.
I don't think anyone is telling the new players this stuff.
The big established corps do have skill point limits, but that has nothing to do with ability and everything to do with weeding out spies, alts, griefers, etc.
They are told not to fly anything they can't afford to lose, but a cheap frig is like million, with a decent fit, and you get most of that back should you lose it in combat.
When I've run new player corps, I was very clear in my advertising what type of corporation I was looking to run. HIGH SEC, INDUSTRIAL CORP, looking to mine, manufacture, avoid conflict and maximize profits. So, the people I had contacting me about applying had already SELF-DECIDED that they didn't want to play this game in an aggressive, competitive manner.
I was always very clear with them that there was another whole side of the game that involved going out and trying to ruin other players' days, and that play style is perfectly legitimate play style option.
Several times I've been in corps run by others where they gathered high sec industrialists, then after they had a critical mass, started bringing in PVPers in preparation for moving to low/null. Every time, as soon as the PVPers start stirring up trouble and causing war dec, the hard core industrialists drop corp into a more peaceful corp.
PEOPLE know their own interests much more than you give them credit for, and in fact, they know themselves MUCH better than you know them.
Some people hear that EVE is a great PVP game, and when they get into the game, they go looking for a PVP training corp. Other hear that EVE has this really complex materials, research, manufacturing, player driven market, etc. When they come into the game, they go looking for a high sec, industrial corporation.
The problem comes when the PVPers think they know better what "EVE is about" and think they can dictate to others, how those others should play this game.
EVE is ABOUT, playing the game however YOU enjoy playing it. |

Am i forcing people to play by "my rules" because i teach them not to be afk in space, because i'll blow their ******* head off ? Oh hell yes, i do. And i'm good at it too !
MANY people have stopped being afk in space or autopiloting. They are telling me ! lol It went so far that some random who saw me paniced and warped off, just because i was around in a frig, hauling stuff.
I really don't see the issue of forcing whatever the hell i want onto anybody, as long as i keep it ingame.
It's a game, it gives me the freedom to do it like no other game out there, so i play it to it's fullest potential.

It is literally happening, yes. I've seen internal mails from corps I've decced to not undock anything for the entire duration of the war because if they lose something it will encourage other people to also dec them. It is a sad, ****** state of affairs.
You say industrialists don't want to play in an aggressive manner. That's fine. But there isn't an opt out of PvP button. It will find you. This is a game where one of the central pillars is competition. Encouraging bright-eyed newbies to shackle themselves in fear and ignorance is not the solution. That way just leads to defeat and people hating this game because they feel powerless.
My OP in this is my trying to tell people to stop stealing newbie's power. They could be incredibly capable if only they weren't being weighed down by poor information and poor leadership. Founding member of the Belligerent Undesirables movement. |

This is an easy one, the mercs are charging to much. I was inquiring about highsec wardec costs and most of them want way more than they are worth. Gross. I mean, I guess there's things to be said about the difference in cost between the Orphanage model when you dec **** for super cheap and get whatever you get vs. the model of deccing select targets and making their lives a personal Vietnam.
The latter should be much more expensive. Although 2.5b is nuts. 1b is much more realistic in my experience.

This!!
It's very disconcerting that so many bitter vets continually try to dictate how newer players should play.
New players, it's your 15 bucks a month, do what the frak you want to do in this game. Unless Joe Schmoo is paying your subscription fee for you, tell him or her to kick rocks (or space debris).
