Corps asking for ridiculous amounts of SP and PvP experience...
So how am I supposed to get PvP experience? Any suggestions? RvB is not an option as I was with them for 2 days and hated it. It's just clusterf**king, it's not organized worth a damn and you don't learn anything. If you're a noob you're just free kills for the vets in RvB.
I've learned my lesson about SIZE given my experience with Test, so I really no longer take that into consideration when looking for a corp. Just trying to get what I need so I can join a decent corp that actually does **** and I can actually start to enjoy the game instead of playing skill-queue like I have been for the last 4 months or so.
Will be awhile before I can get the f**king 30 Mill SP many of the decent alliances want, but I guess some will overlook that if you have some decent kills, pas the blood test, all of your references check out and your credit score is above 600.

There are plenty of corps around that don't care about experience or SP. Brave Newbies come to mind. If you were paying attention you would have noticed a link to the community spotlight CCP wrote about them in your launcher. |

1. Solo pvp - corps will count these kills literally 100x higher than group pvp. 2. Join a "non-elite" pvp corp. Work your way up. 3. Join a RvB or an Eve-uni type of corp and learn to FC. Corps will line up to recruit 1/2 decent FC's.

News flash, this is true for anywhere you want to pvp. If you don't know how to pvp, obviously your gona get steamrolled by a competent pvper, regardless of sp. I've seen 2-3 month old characters kill years old characters in 1v1 and 1v2 situations all the time. Experience matters a lot more than sp. |

Actually if you stick around and ask some questions you can learn a lot in RvB. There are a lot of good solo pilots and some decent FCs too. As was previously mentioned you get good experience on how to act under fire. I sucked 100% of the time before I joined, and now I only suck 95% of the time. But its not for everyone.

When I first started playing SP was always an issue.
But all the corps i joined waved the SP requirement if you can show or prove that PVP is where your ability in the game lie.
Most of the really good PVP guys in the game is good not because of SP but because it is something they did from the start and just has a knack for. If you have that then any corp will take you regardless of the amount of SP you got. If that was your experience in RvB I'm pretty sure you failed to use such resources as the noobfleet channel and of course, the corp chat. However if you are looking for experience and arent sure where to go, try lowsec, youll either learn or burn, either way youll find out if the pvp life is for you. |

I remember you. I directed you several times to the NoobFleet and corp chat to learn, but all I got was rage in return. In any case, you could join a corp like the one I just joined that only has a 2m sp skill cap. You are probably looking in the wrong areas. Try these corp ads: Thread 1 Thread 2
Or even put your own advert up in the recruitment forums to show that you are actively searching for a corp. Its actually not that hard.
Max Doobie wrote:Who reads the launcher crap outside of patch notes?
You should. Its a great way to get involved in the community and that's what Eve is all about.

This may be another thing that you might want to work on. Show you want to do it and they will work with you in most cases. I got out to null as a 2m sp newbie in a corp that had a 10m sp requirement, because I showed I was capable of supporting myself. |

We are trying to create an atmosphere like that in our corporation. I also got the same kind of feeling when looking at most the corporation ad's lately. Also all the big corporations that say they want to teach new players tend just to use totally new people as cannon fodder and throw them around systems and force in to fleets just to shut up. I am not saying that when doing a fleet run everyone should babble random stuff in VoIP, heavens no! I just meant that it's a big step for a total newbie to start asking for stuff if the initial welcome is cold.
Now that the dueling system is in, corporations should all take the idea of starting training they're players and give them that real needed PvP experience by the corporation buying some frigates for everyone to blow up dueling. Meaning that we can overlook how the fight goes, give some tips and both pilots get to be on "same level". Doing stuff like this really gives real exprience, later on all the fighting comes more naturally after getting trough that whole idea of shooting other pilots and not hesitate and keep calm.
Also there is no point about arguing over corporation's recruitment "standards" as they choose themselves what kind of people they want, I just think that recruitment should always start from the "human point" and then if stuff clicks together check over the character information. Even if the player would be on that day not qualified enough to join, you can always make contacts outside of corporation and keep these people at loop and look the application over again in 1-3months of time, if he still would be interested after that time you know this fella is going to be great addition to your corporation ranks. There is nothing to be gained from turning down applicants with cold comments like "lol noob, get some SP were too pro for you"...
My tip for you would be to look for some company that appreciate you and like to hear about you over voice comms and always ask you to get on the action with everyone. Also if you are new for PvP I wouldn't recommend going low/null-sec just yet, get some company and learn basics in a small gangs or fleet. Also you could think of War Dec corporations or Faction Warface corps, they have good small scale action going in hi-sec.
Take care out there and don't stay "care bearing" too long being afraid of the world, you are going to miss the most fun stuff this game has to offer :) |

As far as gaining experience goes, the best way to do so is to just get out there and start shooting stuff. Some people will tell you solo is dead, it's not, it's just a bit of a rough ride sometimes. So long as you continue moving forward and taking the initiative yourself, doors will start to open. While you wait for your SP to build, you become a more attractive recruit, probably figure out what PVP niche you prefer thus helping you decide what corporations are right for you. |

News Flash.
You cant just inject the PvP Skill...nor is any one corp going to be able to make you an elite PvP'er overnight.
Competency at PvP requires patience. You will need to train skills, learn skills and learn from your mistakes (i.e. getting blown up by the more experienced player). Instead of raging about it on the forum, why not just ask them some questions and learn from it.
You dont seem very patient to me. |

I play FW 90% solo with less that 1.5m SP. I have good general pvp experience from playing back in the day but frig pvp is totally new to me. The plex system (only allowing certain ship types in) means that I get good 1v1s often.
I die often but I get the odd kills and it all improves as you learn. The SP requirements are pretty much bull, it mostly comes into play when you're playing against an older player 1v1 and it is literally his skills and better gear versus yours in ships with similar tactics.
Specialise immediately is the best thing to do, you want to be good at one thing and choose your fights carefully. Also, you can only learn by actually going out and playing. Fit 20 cheap ships and go out with no inhibitions about loosing them and I guarantee you will improve. Militias run gangs you can just join as well which is fun enough. |
