Did you ever stop playing Skill Queue Online?
In about 270 days, this character will be 'done' training, meaning that all skills pertaining to my interests in EVE will be at trained to V. Due to some periods of sub lapse, this will give me roughly 50M SP on a 3 year character. I don't consider to be 50M high-SP, but it's all I will need, apparently.
The only thing I can think to do at that point is use an empty slot to raise an alt for the Bazaar, but it feels odd that my main will not be training anything.
Anyone else reach this point and care to comment?

So your saying all support skills and everything is all at 5 and there is no other skills you would ever be interested in training or training for stuff they might release in the future?
You can always create an alt and start training him.
My main is at 155m SP and still training and thats only pvp related skills. |

You can always create an alt and start training him. The first sentence sums it up pretty well, and yeah, selling an alt for ISK was my initial conclusion also. There is the caveat of CCP introducing new Navigation or Defense skills which would give me cause to 'unpause', so point taken.

Dessau wrote:Did you ever stop playing Skill Queue Online? My friend Aandaan (161m) started one day after Dr Caymus (212m), but has 50m less SP as he hasn't always been training (was a hassle pre-skill queue).
Aandaan has been chasing certificates for about a year now, after training to pilot every ship up to titan (those skills are a bit silly in cost).
It drives me batty that he doesn't round-out his skills and get them to at least 4, before say training everything in Electronics and Engineering to 5, but Aandaan tells me he doesn't care, because he doesn't need all those skills anyways; there is a very small set of skills he uses regularly. Aandaan is currently mapped for charisma, chasing some leadership and trade certificates. I was really hoping he'd go through Mechanics instead.
So training may go on, but that doesn't really mean anything once you have all the skills you need to have fun. |

I've just passed 200M SP, I still have skill plans totaling over 3 years of optimised training for skills I still want and need. ATM I can't fly capitals, jump freighters, marauders, logistics, exhumers, black ops or command ships, I want to get my leadership skills up and I want to improve my ECM skills.
My second account has 184M SP and there is even more I need to train on him than on this char.
To a certain extent I have been playing Skills Online because this character has always tried to be top of the lvl 5 skills list and my second account is chasing the Eveboard global ranking crown, but I have also tried to train skills I need for my everyday play as well. |

What I would caution against, is at some point, haveing a 5 or 6 year old character with only 50 million SP. I think you might find yourself wondering "What was I thinking?"
I have 3 accounts. All over 100 mil SP, And I train them on quite different skill paths. Many times I find myself thinking that I can do everything in EVE and do it pretty darn well, but i definately still get satisfaction from level V's in many categories.
I have sold a couple of character in the market. I would say , I liked the ISK from the sales, BUT I wouldn't do it very often. For me, the lost training time is more valuable than the ISK I got from the characters. |

I stopped even caring if my skill queue ran out occasionally around 15 or 20 mil SP.
Then , everything above the cruiser size category, and even most of that, bores me to tears. So I'm probably the exception there.

I don't understand the OPs point at all, or what he is getting at....
EVE is a sandbox that allows you to train skills without physically being in the game,..
The entire thread is pointless to me. This game does not require you to be logged in and killing things to obtain skills and levels so why would you not have anything in your queue. ???? |

50M SP and done? Maybe, depends on what you are specialising in.
I'm at about 82M SP(I took a 6month break from eve at one point, hence the low SP) and I still don't classify myself as done.
The list of ships that cannot fly is getting smaller and smaller. My First long term goal in eve is about to be met, be able to fly EVERY Sub Capital Ship. After that will be to be able to use every T2 Weapon, that is a little further off, atm, I'm using T2 on my Primary Race and Drones, have been for a while. And then I have all the industrial and exploration skills, I still have a long way to go, it appears to be a never ending quest. |

Yeah I stopped training Malc almost 2 years ago. I did put some SP into the new sensor strength and Micro Jump Drive skills, but for most of the last 2 years I have been training up another character on this account. She's looking pretty nice - she passed 60M SP a few weeks ago. She can fly all the T2 medium ships, but she has trading, industry and research skills that are useful in an empire alt, but not so much in 0.0. I also have a 900k SP cyno alt who probably won't get any training any time soon.
More recently I have done the same on my second account; my "second main" has stopped skilling, and I have a nice hi-sec ISK making Tengu alt with 31M SP. When he has all the skills he needs (He's skilling up for his CNR to complement the Tengu), I'll stop training him and start skilling a 3rd, probably a small ship focused specialist (T1 and T2 Frigates, Dessies) that I'll maybe put into FW. Well, at somewhere at approx 45 - 50 mil SP you will have the essentials done. At that point there is nothing wrong in doing couple of extra auxiliary alts. A NPC corp freighter alt for wartime, for example, couple chars with okish PI skills for running reactinos near Jita, A inventor/T2 production alts or Jita trade alt, etc. In any combination you like.
Now obviously there is still stuff to train at 150 mil SP and above, but lets face it, essentials have been there. At approx 50 mil SP you no longer hit the issue of "omg new fleet doctrine and I have to train 3 months for it". Sure, it would be nice to push all T2 guns to 5, all turret and missile support skills to 5, etc etc and thats what people do up to 150 mil and bejond. Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... *THWONK!* GOT the bastard. |

My main sits around 60m SP give or take and I don't consider it even halfway there. I'd rather pay for secondary accounts and train up alts than gimp it. I'm actually against over-speccing, as it's limiting. Trade alts, copy/invention alts, cyno alts and the like don't fall in this category, of course.
It's mostly about being nerf-proof rather than saying you actually fly all those ships. The way CCP goes around ships and erm balances them, you never know when your beloved isk maker (for instance Malcanis' Tengu, lol) goes from hero to zero.
Leadership skills are quite good to have beyond a certain point, especially since links will be moved on-grid, I suspect there's going to be quite a demand for skilled people to fly as boosters in battle (and I'm not talking about zero tank 6 link T3s here, but decent-fit Command Ships).
Ymmv, but there's a saying - "never sell your main". I'd contribute to that "and never stop training it". |

I'm a bit over 100M SP, after having played for 6 years now (including long periods of only logging on to train), and even without having trained for capital ships, nor done much cross-training into non-Caldari ships (although I'm starting to do that now), I still feel like there's a bunch of skillz that I'd like to train.
It's not an urgent, burning need. Back in late 2008, my ISP ****** up big time, and I was offline for 11 days. There was no skill queue back then, and I was almost foaming at the mouth for being unable to connect, and because I was missing out on a week and a half of training opportunity.
Now I've got most skillz to 5. Certainly all the important ones. I have a backup 3G connection now, that I can use when my ADSL malfunctions, but amusingly I'm much less upset about missing out on a half day of training opportunity here, or two days there.
(Note that if I had gone more efficient with learning skillz, and gotten big implants sooner, and if I had been proactive about optimal remaps, it's possible to get quite a bit more than 100M SP in 6 years. Not a lot, but quite a bit.)
