Eugerelia's pragmatism never ceased to amaze Indah, and so she wasn't shocked to see how her mother had readied a little set with a towel, a piece of cloth, a comb and some water. Indah cleaned up her face with a wet cloth, then dried up with the towel. Meanwhile, Eugerelia removed the kerchief around Indah's neck, folded it and put it inside a pocket of her coat. As Indah cobmed her hair, Eugerelia stood behind her, holding a mirror, and sighed softly after seeing the top capsuleer plug on indah's neck. Albeit it was carefully implanted and the skin around it was healthy, it looked so unnatural that it felt as if it could be just detached, instead of being solidly anchored to a vertebra. Eugerelia knew that there were four more, under the shirt, and she was tempted to stroke them above the cloth, but resisted it.

Kuto drove the last couple of kilometers and Indah asked him to lower the barrier so she could see the house through the windshield. Ironically, Indah was so used to see it that she never bothered to memorize a general impression of it; seeing it grow as they got close was like a new experience.
The Fazmarai house was set in a wide open space, with several buildigns cattered to the right of the main drive and the manor to the left of it. There was a small forest of hard wood, which was used for events drign the summer, and several small groups of trees were scattered along the gardens in a apparently random fashion. The Fazmarai family was traditionally linked to tree business, from lumber to fruit trees, and Ruggenor also had expanded into other vegetable business like the LiveMac brand and even traditional agriculture. But trees were the main business,a nd the house was built 400 eyars aog with that spirit. The manor was built on monocarbinated wood or MCW, a hardly combustable and very tough matherial that allowed to build such a large house with incredibly thin pillars and vanes. The house itself was painted white with some structure elements in MCW's raw black color. The roofs were painted green and black in a pattern that reminded of treetops being held up by the thin black pillars.
As the car closed in, Indah could see a spaceship landed on the back pad. It was of Amarran design and had a convoluted decoration with golden swirls that shined under the sun. Indah figured that it was the personal yacht of her sister Perughan and her husband, a wealthy trader.
- Perughan is here?
- Yes, she is.
"And so you wanted me to look nice, even if i'm wearing these Gallentean clothes", thought Indah.
- Did they bring the children?
- No, they didn't. Your brothers also didn't came, as they're on duty, but Patixan said she would try to get a ship and come here... she's pregnant, though, and it's not less than 15 or 20 jumps.
Not seeing anyone else of her siblings, nephews and brothers- and sisters-in-law was not something that concerned Indah. She had travelled many jumps -and across a blockade- to meet her mother and discuss... discusss... Oh God. Discuss what? Indah felt a growing pressure in her throat and tears ready to flow again from her eyes. With an effort, she stiffied her upper lip as the car stopped. Kuto opened the door for Eugerelia and then for Indah, and they both walked to the main door, which opened from the inside.
Indah saw Urughan, the house butler, as he bowed to welcome the house lady and the young lady. Then he guided them to the welcome hall to the left of the main door, and there Indah could see two figures in Amarran clothes: her older sister Perughan, third of four, and her husband. Perughan was almost like a darker version of Eugerelia. Perfectly Khahnid but for the nose, she wore a strict black coat and trousers and her hair was put up in a knot. Her hair was naturally dark brown, but she dyed it black and along the side of her head was a stroke of red dye called a "holy gore", which was fashionable among Amarran female. Albeit her husband was Khanid, most of their business partners were Amarran and it was no secret that they were raising their children as bilingual Khanid and traditional Amarran. Also was no surprise that Perughan's first words upon seeing Indah were:
- Eventually you are here, young Indahmawar. Maybe you informed us of a wrong time of arrival for your flight? -then she turned to Eugerelia and kissed her right cheek instead of both lip corners.
- Welcome, mother. Are you fatigued by your outing looking for sister?
- Please, Perughan, may i ask you and your husband to accompany me while Mawi settles at her bedroom and readies for dinner?
- Of course, mother.
Seeing that Perughan made no hint to greet her, Indah hesitated but nonetheless kissed her right cheek, then Perughan's husband step forward and kissed indah's cheek coldly, muttering:
- Welcome milady Fazmarai, my sister-in-law.
Indahmawar bid farewell and kissed Eugerelia, then she walked to the stairway. She knew the way and didn't needed help to reach her bedroom.

Indahmawar's bedroom was on the second floor, as all of the family members. Also were the former bedrooms of her siblings, now still in use as guest bedrooms. There had been a busy time when both of the Fazmarai brothers dwelled together and guests had to be hosted at the third floor, but since then the only bedrooms that hadn't been refit for different uses were the main bedroom (with the ancillary wife and husband bedrooms), and Indahmawar's own bedroom.
Obviously her luggage had arrived earlier and most of it had been set up at the dressroom, and the bags were stored in a closet; and so the bedroom looked almost untouched since she had slept there for the last time more than a year ago. The furniture were antiques, mostly painted white with black and green decoration following the family livery, but everything else was in Indah's taste. The walls were light blue with a soft green lowr band; there was a thick carpet by the bed (which Indah used to sleep on when she was a child and was upset), and the "princess bed" (actually an old artifact of the manor, quite severe under the colorful paint) was covered in a pale pink conforter with red kitten silhouettes. Indah smiled at the sight of the old comforter, and for a second a embarrassing thought crossed her mind with memories of meeting a man right on top of that same comforter and rushing for a towel to not stain it...
Indahmawar took of their clothes and had a shower (the bathroom hadn't been refurbished since she was 13, and sported red hearts on the walls). While showering, she browsed mentally the clothes she had brung with her and picked a few candidates to dress up for dinner. Probably she would meet his father then, and whatever had to be discussed later -again a pressure in her throat, which Indah soothed with a little gulp of shower water- would be of utmost importance.
But then, what was to discuss? Orphanage, as more than 70% of patients died during the first year? Heirdoom, again? How do you discuss wether your mother shall die?
Slowly and carefully, Indahamawar started picking clothes with shaky hands...
