Appologies, but I wasn't really interested in them when they first appeared as there was no way I could possible afford them, but circumstances change...
Can they be used to pick up cargo from space, such as mining ore into a can?

I know the freighters were created to haul station parts and such, but can they carry regular trade goods?

from what i know, Freighters can carry anyhing you put in them, includeing Ships that are packaged. But what they can not do is pick up anything from space out of cans, or Take anything out of POS's. They can only load/unload while docked at stations.

See now that confuses me cos then how do you deploy a station construction platform if u cant jet things?

You can jettison things, but not pick them up again.

have tested this (except station platform)
u can`t jetison anything while in space
u can`t scoop up anything while in space
u can transport anything u want
u can only jetison the station platform but not pick it up again
this ship is pure station to station and has a 1min alignment time for warp

See now where is the logic in being able to jet a platform which is HUGE and yet not be able to dump a can?

Maybe it opens its' entire cargo hold to space and jetisons it that way.

what we need is to be able to have a giant suction-cup crossbow with a big rope attached to it (preferably with a big ôACMEö written on the side)
