Learn who you can and cannot fight, most of pvp is knowing when to fight, and when to run to the hills. In certain ships you may end up doing more running than you had hoped for, but at least you stay alive. IGNORE anything your opponent puts in local (unless itŠs nice) and always try to use your weaknesses as strengths. (If youŠre small and theyŠre big, youŠre mobile and theyŠre slow. YouŠre hidden, theyŠre exposed)

Get a tech1 cruiser fit it out and go have some fun.
The insurance payout covers loss better for cruiser isk/risk in my opinion better than any other in game.
Pick a quiet time to get into 0.0 safely, like the second after d/t.
Make yourself a mid gate ss, and scan ships entering system, if your setup for anti frig and older players do show info on you, they might become foolish and think they can take you easily.

Go find some decent fighters and hang out with them  If you're lucky, they won't even notice you're just zooming about not managing to hit the broadside of a barn in all the action

try a destroyer, they are dirt cheap to lose and they are very very unforgiving meaning that if you learn how to fly one of these with success you will be able to own in a interceptor!

Oh, and if you are going thorax I suggest finding a way to fit active hardners and some small or medium nosses instead of so many guns if you are taking the plate route.

Join a good PvP corp and learn to PvP from a mentor. A novice shouldn't be able to just move in and start killing experienced pilots.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |

I am very new to the game myself (8days) and i will be subscribing, this i know for sure. Obviously being 8 days old EVERYONE (well 95% of everyone) will be better than me no matter how long i play or what i do. Obviously I'm going to have to compensate with strategy ALOT, or make some friends, or both.
I am not a whiner (I have lost 3 caldari merlins already with roughly 3-5mil in mods on each in my first 8 days alone, i can take it, and revenge will be mine someday be it by my hand or a group of corpmates, when i find one) The only thing that bugs me is I will never ever be on par with any vet player (skill wise)in this game ever.... no matter how much effort or time i put into this game.... i will always be lower. I can accept this, but in the back of my mind it bugs me, just a little.

I will trade a half-dozen losses outnumbered and outgunned for one improbable victory screenshotted or FRAPSed.
Which is more impressive? Someone who has lost one inty in the last two months, or someone who has lost 6 but has solo battleship killmails?

Yes you can. Everyone eventually max out their skills and then you're on par with skill points vs a vet player that chose the same path as you.

It's a team game.
Join a PvP corp, fly a cheap frig for a while and learn on the job.
I have seen outstanding pilots with only 2-3 weeks eve behind them.

yep join a pvp corp, try recruitment channel,
intercepter is crap alone,
seems u want a thorax setup
5 t2 150mm guns, with antimatter, lead and iron in cargo
8heavy explosive or EM drones, i tend to use explosive
kin, therm, exp, hardeners, t2 med rep, 1600mm plate
in mids, a good webber, 20km scram, AFTERBURNER
that setup is practically a HAC

You know I think you're wrong. That is a hallmark of awareness. Why take on a fight you know you can't win?
If I had an ISK for every time the PFM were accused of cowardice I wouldn't have to agent *****, but you know what? We get kills, and we win fights. Knowing which is is one you can win makes sense, especially to a char who is getting disheartened.
Having said all that, I admire your bravery. Just not tactically sound
