I know there are some ppl who do take baths in green tea. Only thing I know is that a lot of tea leafs are required to do so. Old Chinese saying says "Tea cuts oils".

Tannic acid won't do the bathtub any good.
it might be healthy from some aspects, but it is not going to get you clean.

I thought it could clean soap scum and lime since its an acid. it wouldnt be to get clean but to help your skin and everything since green tea could kill all the bacteria and virus.
how about for a mouth wash. I read that you ccan use greenn tea for mouthwash because itll kill all the bacteria and has flouride. - but if it has tannic acid then wouldnt that destroy your tooth enamel? I know tannic priobably isnt as strong as phosphoric or citric acid, but could it still do what they do? I drink lots of green tea ( 20+ servings a day) but dontr want my teeth hurt

Yea, the tannins cause bitterness and come out when you steep too long, press the leaves, or use boiling water. I read up and tannins aren't the same as tannic acid, so I'm not sure they will be harmful to the teeth.

Not sure it will kill all bacteria. That would take some potent chemicals. Bathing in hamburgers, now THERES a concept for real men. Pass me the ketchup.

Picture a giant coffee cup, but with tea in it and a person swimming around in the middle. ah a tea bath would feel so great.

Adds a whole new meaning to "Please join me in a cup of tea"
I prefer to drink tea though. Call me a hardline traditionalist. ------------

Hmm, Loving some of the replies. I have another question though for you green tea drinkers (or bathers ) out there, what is the most potent , fresh, and strong tea I could buy. They don't grow tea here. I can only buy Lipton, Salada, and some wierd named brands at grocery stores and extracts from health places. Does anyone here order online to get fresh Chinese or Japanese green tea sent to them? I need a recommendation from personal experiences of good types of tea. I don't care about taste as much, but more about the health benefits.

I buy my "treat" teas here Fortnum and Mason. The small hampers make great presents as well. If you are American I can recommend this place The british shoppe, my sister emigrated to the states a few years ago. I buy her the occasional food parcel from these guys. They are a little pricey but the service is great.
ah I just noticed you are talking about green tea, your best bet is the local oriental food emporium.

Now THAT is an ingenious idea! I think I'm going to fill my swimming pool with hamburger. But MINE is going to use Worchestershire sauce!
And then, if I take a flamethrower to all the ground beef, I can make the biggest flame-grilled burger in the history of the world! Unfortunately, it will be shaped like an uneven brick :(

I prefer black tea. My favorite is Bigelow's Earl Grey, I find it to be fresh and very tasty every time, I think the packaging keeps it fresher than other brands. As for green tea, I'm rather fond of AriZona Green Tea with Ginseng and Honey. You can buy it in gallon jugs (very convenient) and it tastes quite good. I think the honey makes the difference, I consider it to be the world's greatest sweetener. Honey pwns cane sugar. I think they use Sue Bee (very good brand) but I can't remember. ___________________________________________ ^^^***---All things serve the Beam---***^^^ GDBT is recruiting! |
