Im slowly getting into my PvP side and starting to experiement with different modules and tactics.
Ive got skills trained for the Medium Energy Neutrliser II (and anything else that is applicable) but have yet to try it.
Was just wonder, with an actiation time/duration of 12 seconds, and the 'amount of energy drained' equalling 180GJ (or so) does that imply I can drain 180GJ of enemie capcaitor PER 12 seconds, or is there a maximum of 180 GJ drained - likewise, using multiple neutralisers drain more.
The idea being that you basically stave them of energy so they cannot shoot/scramble/whatever to your ship right?
Also - is there any advantage between using these modules vs. vampiric modules? Or is a vampire the way to go as it also ADDS energy to your own ship?
Probably a straightforward answer, but anything i much appreciated! Cheers all. |

Neuts are able to starve enemy ships of energy, preventing them from using their own modules, yes.
And Nos's can only drain a cap until it is higher than your own cap (percentage). At the point that theirs is equal to or lower than yours, the NOS will fail to continue draining capacitor.
Neuts will drain the amount stated at the beginning of the cycle, and will not drain any more than that until the cycle ends and the next one begins. That means they lose 180GJ at the beginning, and nothing happens for the next 12 seconds. It is for this reason that it is best to "stagger" the cycles of your neuts, so their cap is kept as low as possible for as long as possible. In some cases a small is better than a large for this due to the short cycle time allowing it to keep the capacitor low over the duration, as opposed to the large "nuking" the capacitor and emptying it all at once, but allowing a target to regen capacitor throughout the cycle.
Edit: forgot to mention: the more neuts the better. If you have 2 staggered halfway, you can empty their cap every half cycle, but you can start with them both at the same time until you get their cap low if you want. All up to you to figure out how you want to use them. |

Cool. Handy wee modules, arent they?
By 'stagger', you're implying multiple modules and activating one at a time? |

By 'stagger', you're implying multiple modules and activating one at a time? Yeah, activate them at off times compared to each other. If you have two, let one cycle to half before activating the other. If you have four let each perform a quarter cycle before activating the next.
I know the Heavy neuts have something like a 20 second cycle. With 8 of them activated all at once I can cap out a Battleship, but for the next 20 seconds they'll be able to regenerate cap unhindered. Instead I prefer to activate them one at a time so their cap will drop to about 0 anyways, but they won't be able to activate any modules from that point on (or in many cases after draining their cap to empty I'll leave 1 or 2 staggered on them to keep them down). |

Since you mentioned it, don't expect neuts to save you from tacklers. Any half competent ones will have nos fitted to supply energy to maintain their point. Standings Improvement Service https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=19454 |

Against a true tackler this is true. Against a combat fit ship who just happened across you and is trying to hold you in place until backup arrives, it might save you. All depends on the circumstances.
But yeah, more times than not neuts aren't anti-tackle. |
