Very nice ship but I dont know if its the fastest.. I got a claw with 1 gistii a-type 1mn mwd + 4 domination (40m/s) overdrives and with my gang skills I go around 900m/s with no modules active.

With the mwd or afterburner active its the fastest. True the Claw is faster without anything running but thats why the modules are included as well.

Because the Claw has a higher mass so goes slower when the mwd kicks in...

the quoted base speed was without any gang skills or other modifiers.
Having seen Catalyst's ship in action, and struggled to keep up in my own racer capable of "only" 7.8km/s... that is the fastest racer out there.

right so with "gang skills" and "other modifiers" youre saying that the crusader will go faster then 900m/s without the mwd active? and your saying that mass has anything to do with top speed?
Dont try and fool anyone, crusader is a slower ship then claw without any modules or modifiers. they both have the same amount of low slots. mass does not affect top speed, only acceleration. Therefore the claw is the faster ship.
you get an F for effort and an F for noobs.
This crusader is most definately NOT eves "fastest" ship.

In 2 weeks I'll be able to fly both the claw as well as my current "speed racer" crusader. I had planned to move my existing crusader setup over to a claw and see if my top speed increased. I'll let you know how that works out if you want. Otherwise that setup is solid, I'm trying to put one togeter myself. Right now I run 1 Gisti MWD, and 4x local hull overdrives (shopping for doms atm). With crap skills I pull 6.42 km/s until the cows come home and dance in the yard. Consider this your informative bump.

Claw
Claw: 4 low slots and 475m/s base speed
Max speed before skills: 635m/s
Crusader
Crusader: 4 low slots and 455m/s base speed
Max speed before skills: 615m/s
Now, with those facts, no matter WHAT bonuses are in place any character using one ship and then the other will ALWAYS see that the Claw comes out on top.
It is only appropriate to compare a ship in consistent variables to another ship, and any variables to one must be applied to the other to have a genuine measure of performance.
This is a clear cut win for the Claw, and indeed when put under the same circumstances, then Claw will continue to be the winner.

...typing every word with a capital first letter just makes you look foolish.
Also, mass does have an effect on top speed. Why do you think they're called 1mn/10mn/100mn AB's/Mwd's? Because they are comparing them to the ship's masses.
Now, I don't know whether or not this will make the crusader faster than the claw, however, I know that the bonus from mwd will have a greater effect on the crusader's top speed, than on the claw.

I could be talking dross - but when you activate an ab or mwd it adds mass to your ship which decreases acceleration.
Top speed will still be reached, but it just takes longer.
Where that differs is when you try to turn. You then have acceleration to deal with again.
If I'm right... (thats one hell of a big if with me  at this random time and place) the Claw wins a race in a straight line, but the crusader wins if you want to win a race in a circle.
Thing is - orbit is a circle, but the increase in radians that you get over in a crusader over a claw is negligible at the speeds they'd be operating at anyway.
Either way - I won't spend 500 mill on it...

Right, to finally put an end to this wide spread of misinformation that is going about, I jumped in a Claw this morning and got the speeds with and without a mwd active...
With my skills and no gang bonus the results were...
Claw: 833m/s without the mwd, 7507m/s with it on
Crusader: 807m/s without the mwd, 7584 with it on.
Now, anyone else want to claim then Claw will still go faster?
This isn't a thread about how fast I can go, its about how fast the person who puts a bid in can go.
Imagine if you would, Thrust II up for auction and with the new set of pirate implants out there that speed can be smashed...

I aint the best ceptor pilot around but i have got my crusader to 7976 ms but give me a few more days and i will break the magic 8kms barrier :P
